I seriously watch this practically everyday! i think what your doing is amazing! You have changed my mind about racehorses. A while ago i decided that this summer i was going to get an untrained horse and train it myself. but after seeing all of your videos of dee i have decided to get an ottb! @Bhukshine I have a 3 yr old average gelding quarter horse. he's amazing when riding, but his natural behavior is dangerous. He's sensitive, spooks easily, and is dangerous to be around. He is alot like Dee started out. I would like to know how you work with horses, like your groundwork in natural horsemanship. So if you could leave advice on how you can turn a dangerous horse into something like that . that would be wonderful.

Truly amazing, i was in the same situation with cuople of my friends.

We bought a retired racing mare, and she was very kind and gentle but she needed someone who she can trust :D we we retraining her for a year or so and she was also a very good jumper, after a while we rehomed her and now she is very happy with her new family.

beautiful this has changed my opinion of ex racers before i thought they we're nutty twigs tht broke their legs easy i still think their more supseptable to leg injuries then other horses becausethe majority are broke in too young and this causes leg issues in the future but i now think that ex racers are gonna be on my possibility list in the future i just cryed when i saw this its just beautiful absolutly georgous it just shows what you can do when you put the time and effort into them XD xxxx

Awesome. I just got an OTTB myself a couple months ago and I already trust him more than my pony that I've had for 6 years. He is also 4 years old and the sweetest horse I've ever met. I say he has the attitude of a therapeutic riding horse. I can crawl under his belly, throw a tarp over his head and he just chills there like he's done it all before. hey i have a question: why did you take her shoes off? i own an off track tb myself, and her feet are absolute shit, and from what i've experienced/heard from my blacksmith that generally all tbs have flakey, easily cracked/bruised and generally soft feet. not going after you in anyway, just curious, since i know my mare's feet get shot straight to hell if she goes shoeless for more than a couple of days :)

wow, you've definitely inspired me. I started riding an OTTB named Hal towards the end of July. After Hal's racing career was finished he went on to play a  major role in a movie, as a race horse of course. He was then moved to the barn where I take lessons and given 9 months off. His training as a hunter/jumper began about 3 months before I began riding him, and I took him to his first hunter show last weekend where he did very well!

Its very true Tb's are just for track racing. One of my friends uses her horse for western events. Scoots also wasn't good at track racing. Riley,is a TB another friend retrained like you did Dee. He is now the whole world to two little girls who love him.

Absolutely LOVE this little doco. I was sitting here grinning away like a loony by the end of it, haha. We do OTTB rescue at home as well, so know all the ups and downs you go through with the TB's. They are amazing animals though, all ours have come from grim situations. Two of them heading for the meat market, and one was so badly neglected the vet thought he wasn't going to make it.
