  • It's a white guy with black soul...he is amazing !!!...

  • Golden Period? I saw John Mayall three times before 1975 and loved the line-ups of that period. But nothing before or since by any blues band could beat the Mayall, Mick Taylor, John McVie and Colin Allen Bluesbreakers of 1982 in their Australian tour.

  • Blue is its own color its neither black nor white.its nonracial and defin8ly discriminates..c/- True blue Aussie..

  • Im a blues baby and gotta say my Dad has taste... aka Roxanne =)

  • Fucking amazing !

  • Lunchie: No one is on his own. The real bluesmen sang about it. Someone cooks you cornbread. Someone buys you a pint. Someone patches your holes. Someone lets you grift. What do you need to be shown? It's already inside you. They can teach you the difference between an A note and a C. But they can't teach you what's already inside you. The idea is that life is what we make it. The idea is that you've got to look out for your own. The idea is that love has no higher power. I know you.

  • unfriendly state like AZ? What exactly makes it 'unfriendly'?

  • Saw him at Filmore West in very late '60s or early 70s.

  • this man has not been getting the recognization he deserves, his blues, wiht in the context of musical creation is creative, different non sadness like, acid, free spirit, psycodelic if you will. I will download some from his LP best blue Album "USA" ... wathc i can tell young folks will love. thank you for historic small video of John.

  • hippyyy!?

  • Marquee Club ... is there a Time Machine just for one day for me?

  • Good Times ... Good Music ... Love It <3

  • REmember seeing John Mayall at the Fillmore East in NYC about 1969 and Room to Move blew us away...snuck off into the bathroom to smoke a joint....

  • saw Mayall in Boston in '70 with no drummer ... played Roxanne, Room to Move. ... great show!

  • I've been a fan of Mayall since 1969 when I heard Room To Move. Saw him at the Whiskey in 1971 with Mark and Almond. What a great show.

  • I've been a fan of Mayall since 1969 when I hear Room To Move. Saw him at the Whiskey in 1971 with Mark and Almond. What a great show.

  • I've been listening to Mayall for about 40 years and still love his sound. A lot of super musicians began under his wing.

  • skinny bone skeleton, jon.

  • nice closeup of johns nipple hair

  • "Roxanne".

Perfect music to listen to lying in the bed of a pickup truck driving across the Golden Gate Bridge at dusk.

  • You listen Mayall, and you are hear a master!!:)!

  • the man is inexaustible!

  • I saw Johnny Lang play this song MANY years ago in a bar in Abilene. He did it almost as well as John does. The album, "The Turning Point" is great.

  • they absolutely should make a movie on the life of john,,,

and all the great people he launched to stardom...

as he just lived the life of a fantastic 'bluesman.'

  • I actually met John Mayall... outside a public restroom at the Dallas airport!

  • @zoomerx when I saw John Mayall play a few years I took along a CD I had made of my favourite music, ending in his Mists of Time. I was going to hang round the stage door and pass it to him but he was out in the foyer mixing with everyone and I had the opportunity to talk to him. He took the CD and thanked me. I often wonder if he ever did play it, maybe on the tour bus?????

  • @prisonerfan Good story. I saw John Mayall in Honolulu a few years ago (before I met him in Dallas). We showed up early and here was this unassuming guy by the front door, setting up a table with boxes of CDs, taking cash and giving change back... well, that was him! Funny thing is, lots of people didn't even know! Stardom has always eluded him but he'd be the first one to tell you he couldn't care less.

  • @zoomerx Yes, he was selling CDs and DVDs that night in the foyer too. He also signed my programme. I told him I had always liked his music and he shook my hand. The reason I was looking up John Mayall on You Tube was because I had his 70th birthday DVD playing in the background on the TV. It is such a polished performance with Mick Taylor, Eric Clapton and Chris Barber, plus of course the very talented Bluesbreakers. I hear he's got a new band now?

  • Protestez impotriva timpului ce trece....

  • poor guy couldn't afford a shirt?

  • A true masterpiece from the alltime jewel of an album...THE TURNING POINT...

    time runs too fast sometimes

  • I saw John Mayall w/ Johnny Almond, Jon Marks in Hawaii, in the early 1970s. They were on tour promoting the Turning Point album. What a concert. As the album linear note states, "blues without bashing". A great time was had by all. The smoke was thick,... contact high like it or not! Party on brethren!

  • Great Has someone the video with "television eye" ??

  • beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the video. Loved this period in Mayall' s journey with the acoustic sound. "Turning Point" was a phenomenal album. I played it so much I think I wore out the grooves. I saw John in 1968 ( circa "Blues From Laurel Canyon") with Mick Taylor and it was a fabulous show.

What a great talent; thanks for the memories John...

  • This is great stuff, but its only a shell of Roxanne. I'd like to hear the entire song with the sax included

  • Огромное спасибо ,за редчайшее видео!!!

    Thanks !!!

  • Yes, a great video I'd not seen before. Thanks for posting it. Seen John quite a few times lately - still touring, still going strong, still knocking the audiences' socks off with a fantastic sound... having a second 'golden period' I'd suggest.

  • this is unfortunately the only John Mayall video, during his golden period 60-75.

its hard being the last of the true blues-men. especial in an unfriendly state like Arizona, another part that makes it hard is being young and white

I suppose that's why I listen to John, he doesn't need to sound black, which he dose,

and he don't need to play no sad-ass blues, but frankly, there's not an adult among me who knows the blues enough to show me.

so I guess I'm on my own, like john and eric and peter

  • Thumbs up to that brother, as the great Leon Redbone once observed, the blues ain't nothing but a good man feelin' bad and nobody ever played blues better than the great John Mayall

  • @LunchieTheBluesMan

If you don't like Arizona, MOVE! This country gives you freedom and ROOM TO MOVE!

    Thank YOU Arizona!!!!!!!!

  • @LunchieTheBluesMan Have you never been to the Rhythm Room in Phoenix? The owner, Bob Corritore's group played at BB King.Bob's plays harmonica, knows a lot about the history of Blues. His club has kept many blues men employed for years and years. He also has "Those Low Down, Dirty Blues" radio show every Sunday night on KJZZ. If there is one place that deserves to sing the Blues it's AZ!!!

  • @LunchieTheBluesMan Search "John Mayall walking on sunset". It's a video of him and a young bluesbreaker band (with mick taylor) on a show called "Saturday Night Hop" in 67.

  • I have been a John Mayall fan since I bought his first record in 1964( bluesbreakers with eric clapton).Saw him in the 80`s once where he had some go go girls dancing on stage(not his best period).I saw him again last year ,again in Helsinki, and it was great, and I got the opportunity to shake his hand.A very memorable evening!

  • I've seen him 5 times now. Most recently in Dublin a week ago. I couldnt beleive my eyes and ears! He is better than ever, looks very fit, and has a great band. He's 75 you know!!

  • That's great being 75 should have nothing to do with it. Great to see him still out there doing his thing.

  • Bloody animal of the blues!

  • I love fleetwood mac. Really nice post this with john mayall. Thanks

  • john used to live ina tree house

  • I've been listening to John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers for over 30 years. I've seen them twice. Once in the Front Row Theater in Cleveland back in the 80's. John McVie was playing bass, and during the intermission they went backstage and did many lines of coke. In fact, John made it a point to wipe his nose in front of the crowd. It was a great show. In the late 80's, I saw a show in Atlanta, and Roy Buchanan was the opening act for John Mayall. T

  • lucky you!! i'm listening more than 30 years and " I still got the blues"..for my 53 years. My favorite show was Rory's....

    a "girl" from Greece!!

  • great piece

  • THANK you... I have always liked the album "Turning point", never knew there was a film!!

  • my brotehr in law--plays bass with him...

  • lucky him

    =)

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee there's a bluesman!!

  • Blues at it's most raw and finest!!!!!

  • yeah yeah yeah blues baby !!

    you blues john!!!

  • I sincerely apologize if I am being redundant or pedantic, but the title "The Turning Point" refers to Mayall's decision to make a break from the traditional blues sound and go in another direction,.... mainly by dropping the drummer and--I think--the lead guitarist from the band. This video represents that decision.

  • fucking sick bass line. anyone know where i can get the sheet music/tabs?

  • you can learn it by ear! don´t be lazy!! haha

  • buen blues rock de john mayall

  • If you don't like Arizona, MOVE. Try Canada.

This country gives you the freedom for ROOM TO MOVE!

  • @gcaire Have you never been to the Rhythm Room in Phoenix? The owner, Bob Corritore is an expert on harmonica and knows a lot about the history of all kinds of blues. His club has kept many blues men employed for years and years. He also has "Those Low Down, Dirty Blues" radio show every Sunday night on KJZZ. If there is one place that deserves to sing the Blues it's AZ!!! Our family's been here > 100 yrs.AZ used to be Progressive until the Brewer,Horne, Arpaio, etc invaded from other states.

  • So many of these do not know Lenny Bruce, freedom of opinion, freedom of expression,

Please get the movie on DVD (if possible) IT would help if you knew more about civil liberties you do no have..pre when? 1995?....when was Bush? the Patriot Act? etc?

  • what exactly was "1969 film the turning point" like? Who all was in it?

  • Blues...

    I love the blues!

  • HMMN, The well-Recognized and Generally, Most"Underrated of An ARDENT Avant Garde' Cadrefrom the 1960s'-Early 70s'. Man, JOHN MAYALL is one of the most Nonchalant,Gifted Musicians I've Ever Had the Pleasure of Hearing & Seeing! It was the "U.S.A. Union" TOUR,in the Spring of 1972, I was"Favoured" by the Latest Ensemble"SIR"JOHN had assembled. 'Seals & Crofts'opened for them. The Old 'Sports Arena...in Atlanta Ga.(A Former Boxing Ring.) JOHN MAYALL, the MENTOR-DEAN Of The BRITISH BLUES!

  • would love to see the "room to move" tune version of this movie, if there is one...

  • Mayall's a complete sport. I saw him in Boise a few years back. He showed up to the gig about an hour early wearing a crappy old ski coat and proceeded rearrange most of the equipment on the stage, all the time chatting us up. A really decent guy.

  • love blues

  • At the beginning of this video, at the very 00:00 there is some guy appear for a split of the second. He looks like Jim Morrison in that half of a second, at least same hairdo.

  • esta chido y nada mas

  • That record is one of the best in history, Thanks for posting this video!

  • yo tuve una oportunidad... y la aproveche! autografo de john mayall, autografo y PUA de buddy withington...la ostia

  • ya te digo, este tio es el jefe

  • Brings back great memories!! John Mayall was one of the best! Thanks for posting this great piece of history!

  • a real poetry

  • Me and a friend at Filmore East to see him. We saw him standing against the railing behind the seats. "THAT's HIM!" "Nah..." "Look!" "... You're RIGHT!" "Let's ask him for an autograph." "No way." "Yeah, let's do it - when will we ever get another chance???" "... OK ok" He's eating a Snickers bar. "Mr. Mayall ... may we have your autograph?" He thinks a moment, starts to put the candy bar down and pick up our pen and paper ... and then shakes his head 'no' and goes back to eating his candy bar.
  • Haha, that's John for ya

  • We owe John Mayall A LOT. No disprespect to the guy but he was a hellish singer. I saw this bunch in The Usher Hall, Edinburgh. They didn't have as drummer and Mayall entertained us all at one point, by twanging a ruler on the edge of a table! Happy days.

  • And now he's an old man...71, I believe.

  • its often sad, he's not the best musician at all;

so he made "The blues alone" Album...

  • One day in 1969 I was walking along a beach on the Queen Charlot Islands, near Alaska. I was waked on dope, had a getoblaster on my shoulder. This is how I first heard this song. It takes me back.

  • John Mayall is an under rated GREAT!

  • many say he is not a good guitarist and dont even a very good harp-player!!! do i worry about this??? NO. because he playes from deepest heart. and i got this concert on cd!!! how great each song. i only miss 'room to move'. the croud at the end starts chearing like i've never ever heard it like this anymore.

  • I hear you my friend, well said.

  • I still listen to the Turning Point often and love the sound (sans drums). It was a great concept for a band lineup especially in the "my amp is bigger than yours" sixties and seventies. Thanks for some sweet tones!

  • Great video, wish there were more videos of him from the 60`s.John Mayall`s Bluesbreakers have still produced the best music for me.Thanks.

  • Anybody know what the line-up is? Or who are the girl and guy outside the house?

  • Thanks for the post,

    But.....we want more.......

  • More videos from the sixties available?

    The 60`s forever!

  • nice

  • Groovy!

  • OMG, great!

  • WoW :) Soooo Very Great! Thanks for digging
