  • This is priceless. As a kid I remember seeing this happening during the intro, and only now, years later, do I finally figure out how it actually works. NOBODY, not me or my friends could ever figure this out of all the time we spent playing this game. This has to be the most epic hidden secret video game skill of all time. Thanks so much for finally enlightening me to the secret! :)

  • dude thanks for the vid and descriptions now if i ever get in trouble i will know what to do tho i never went below 6 energy tanks when i had 10 and never went below 4 when i had 5.. if you play a game too much u know where everything is and it gets boring sadly X_X;

  • why are there so many question marks in the Comments? DOH + 1

  • does any one know how to make samus scream to break it tunnel in maridia??

  • @CHASEHER89 Use the power bomb.

samething in metroid zero mission inbetween the space pirate ship and the chozo ruins.

  • maybe this is what samus is doing at the very begginig of Metroid other m?

  • Huh. Of all the years I've played Super Metroid, I never found this? Odd.

  • how are you supossed to find that out?!

  • @bluefAng When you finish the game, the video demos that show up in the Title Screen change, you can see shinesparks, infinite bomb jumps and the crystal flash. Somebody saw that and devoted his life to find the good buttons...

  • zomg spoiler i makes da samoose a female!

  • i did what the description says and it doesn't work for me ):

when i hold L, R and down i cant move nor release a bomb

even when i hold L,R i cant move, only shot or release a bomb

    help please

  • @mantisolivares get a controller, keyboard restricting you to three keys

  • Comment removed

  • lol

  • Is that the sprite from when she dies?

  • Woa you proubley heard this one before but how did you do that? Awesome!

  • read the description

easy enough; L + R + down + fire (hold them all) when you have 10 missiles, 10 Super Missiles, 11 Power Bombs and under 30 life.

  • @DarkJDL

it doesnt work by me ?? :(

  • @SoraofKHII

you must be doing it wrong?

  • @DarkJDL 49 or lower energy actually.

  • @GoldenShadowML Read the description I said, it's not like I invented what I wrote, I just copied what the guy said. don't @DarkJDL me lol.

  • correction: 50 energy point or less. not 30! ;)

  • hey does anyone know if the Murder beam and crystal flash are in fusion and zero mission?

  • Both - No.

  • Holy shit, that was cool.

  • i cant seem to be able to do it, it doesnt want to lay down the power bomb

  • can yo do this in the virtual console version. I cannot get it to work to save my life, pun not intended.

  • yes you can. just select power bombs, morph, and then hold l, r, down, and fire all at once.

  • wow didn't know i can do that instead i stuck up with killing mother brain around 5health tanks and around 5trys i still beat it so great =D rated 4/5

  • its at least 10 =m 10=sm and 11=pb

  • a games greatness should be measured by your own opinion not someone elses... except this one. BEST GAME EVER HANDS DOWN!!!!!!

  • Agreed!

  • I wholeheartedly agree. Anyone who questions this games greatness must perish.

  • That is too awesome.

  • funny note: you can see that trick in one of the auto demos of the game that are running when you don't press Start-button

(i have the european version, don't know about us- or j-version)

is it just me or is super metroid still the best of the series?

  • super metroid was awesome but i also liked prime 3 alot

  • "Super Metroid It's considered one of the greatest games in the video game industry and the definitive Metroid game."

Taken from Wiki, so umm, yes =D

  • Who cares about Wiki?

I'm only interested in Gamer's opinions!

  • Whose do you think that made and support the Wikitroid einstein?

  • first: calm down, wasn't attackin you, because...

...second: i didn't know about Wikitroid!

thought you were talking about the classical Wikipedia.

ok, you have knowledge about a M-fansite, doesn't mean that everbody does, or am i wrong?!

    no need to be rude...

  • Hey! I wasnt attacking you, it was sort of a joke, bad one i guess, sorry =/

  • ah, no prob, at least we're just Metroid-fans at all!

  • And also, who do you think edits the Super Metroid page on regular Wiki? Metroid fans; gamers :P

    I love semicolon.

  • @rotskert123 ye, it's in the US version, and I've been wondering how you do it ever since I saw it

  • @rotskert123 I consider Super Metroid to be perfect and cannot be improved on...but Prime was more fun and the only thing that could possibly be improved on that game are the graphics. However super metroid's style of graphics can't be improved on.

  • I never knew that

  • Finally i know how u do this... Could never figure it out.. tanx..

  • lol did not have internet in those days and finally today I know how to do it HAHAHAH.

  • yeah this trick was in the super metroid official guide ( didnt have internet back then). you hold down the down on the pad, L, R, and let off a powerbomb in ball form. it will waste the first bomb then start charging your health off of 10x each item. get full life. not a bad trick when you get hurt in lava areas or areas with strong space pirates.

  • I don't think you'll be able to fight the Mother Brain without any missiles! :)

  • After playing super metroid so many times I never knew about this trick until now. thanks for sharing.

  • Same here, you can watch Samus do it in the demo reel, when you just let the game idle, but I've never been able to figure out how it was done.

  • how do u do it just go in a ball and let off a super bomb

  • lol I never knew about this until now. I mean, I had seen it done before, but I never knew what it was called or how to do it. ^__^;

  • Awesome man. Thanks =) This helped me get the x-ray vision before the Grappling beam.

  • =O but now u'll have to beat the mother brain with ur charge beam!

  • It's at or less then 50, not 30

  • 0:06 i don't think the wall wants her to heal...

  • I have done all of this and nothing happens

less than ten of everything. No reserve energy and under 30 units of life. I hold L+R while morphing into a ball with power bomb highlighted. I press and hold fire and NOTHING HAPPENS. Do i need to keep the default buttons for shoot, etc?

  • you need 10 or more of everything. not less than ten.

  • It still does not work unless I use the default buttons.

  • Weird...

  • You need to hold L+R+Down to do it. :)

  • Samus took her clothes off!

  • Yeah but now you don't have any missiles for Mother Brain?

  • I was going to ask that :S

  • Comment removed

  • True, charge shots are stronger, but as you said, missiles are faster. I don't know why, but when I played Fusion, I use charge beam, but in Super, I rely more on missiles.

  • @mattrdsx2 You can replenish in another room.

  • @mattrdsx2 He's gonna screw attack her to death.

  • @mattrdsx2 Can't you use the charge beam?

  • @mattrdsx2 I'm pretty sure, the "Power Rings" will give her some missiles.

  • its called description read it

  • hey can someone post a vid explaining all or most of the hidden moves? getting an explanation via text is difficult to understand- and i woulnd know how to find a place that explains them anyhow. could anyone help?

  • i have always wanted to kno how 2 do dat. im talkin for years. I love u guyz. (No HOMO)

  • Super Metroid thought of everything. I just love esoteric stuff like the Crystal Flash. Genius game.

  • yeah it's the ultimate classic of an era.

  • Is that supposed to happen? Or is it a glitch?

  • It's supposed to do that, it's one of Super Metroid's hidden moves. There are others, though this is one of the harder ones to do.

  • No Glitch. One of SM's special moves. There are several others though I cant perform this move though.

  • so thats what that looks like

i've never tryed it, i've always had less than what is needed to do that ... or died befor i could try it xD

  • theres also switching to powerbombs in normal form and then charging up any beam, the results vary depending on what beam is equiped

e.g. ice beam creates a ice sheild

  • As long as you have at LEAST 10 of each and at LEAST 11 super bombs this will work. Be sure to keep holding down L+R and down AND the bomb button for it to work, don't let go of the button that fires the bomb, that was my problem. Also, make sure your reserve tanks are empty.

  • It has to be 10 missiles, 10 super missiles and 11 power bombs precisely or they can be less?

  • it's only out on the super nes but it cam out on the Virtale console as well

  • i did not know. thanks

  • Lol, i did this and the sound went off O_o

  • They saw this is going to be zero suit samus' final smash. by doing this she'll even get her suit back!

  • Sweet!

  • That would be awsome

  • 'cept it doesn't heal you

  • Yeah it does. :P

  • no i mean the final smash

  • HEH! XD

Dude, so sorry. Completely missed the subject there. I thought you were talking about the original Crystal Flash.

  • VOILA ....there is it...easy at it sounds , try it...100 percent sure of success

  • 3--u need to be in 45 or below of energy and be sure u have no reserve in the tanks and have 10 missiles,10super missiles, and 11 power bombs.

4--click spacebar or default key be sure U ARE IN MORPH BALL AND SELECTED THE POWER BOMBS

  • 1-You need to input this code L,R,X,DOWN,5sec.. on spacebar or any key ..

2-You must be in morph ball and select the power bombs before anything first.

  • use zsnes emu ,there are 5 options GAME,CONFIG,CHEAT,NETPLAY,MISC... click MISC and go directly to Key Comb. the steps are..

  • i have done everything u said and it still wont work i just cant get the keys to even use the bomb

  • Emulators don't like people pressing multiple keys on keyboards. You might have to reassign some buttons in the emulator config, or you could actually buy the game...

  • or buy a 10 dollar USB joystick for the pc which is what I did ;)...works perfectly.

  • wait

  • Interesting... There are some other cool tricks in Super Metroid, such as charging up your beam weapon and switching to morph ball. This will cause a "scatter bomb."

  • This ability can't be used on an emulator using the keyboard, because of the limit on number of simultaneous input keys from a keyboard (2 or 3 is the max). If you were using a controller (USB or otherwise), then you would be able to do this on an emulator.

  • Some keyboards only reject certain key combinations; for instance mine can do QWOP, but not SDXC. For L and R, I use C and the spacebar; you might try that since it works for me (laptop keyboard).

  • I've never seen that before. I guess there are still some tricks I never tried in that game.

  • You do not have to have exactly that amount. You have to have AT LEAST that amount of power bombs, missiles, and super missiles.

  • Or was it at most? Shit.

  • its real,

you have to be below a certain energy (49) and you have to have certain things.

    Its called the Crystal Flash

  • You really missed what I was trying to say, there.

  • where some people may be messing up is that you can't have any energy left in the reserve tanks.

  • If there are any more Metroid games, this power should definately return.

  • Impresionante!!!

LLegué a pensar qe no era posible hacer ese movimiento

  • No, its not a glitch at all. In fact if you let the game cycle through its demo screens (by not pressing start) Samus will demonstrate each technique one by one, including this one.

Eons ago, there was even a Super Metroid comic in Nintendo Power, and they make reference to Samus using that power. The pink ball is the healing energy of the super bombs, she is bathing in it I guess.

  • @ShadowArmor in the comic (if i remember right) she also get her suit on by using a power bomb

  • Is that a glitch? Or did the developers put it in there. And what is that pink ball samus is in and what is she doing?

  • It's all the little things like this that make Super Metroid so great.

  • yea its not working for me either, i put everything exactly as you said. Im using an emulator, does that make a difference?

  • after all these year....thanks fox!

  • I just followed my own directions twice, and it worked so I'm not sure if I can explain it any more clearly. Just do each thing one step at a time. 1) Have the amounts as I listed them. 2) Morph into the ball. 3) Press and hold (L), (R), and down (you can do one at a time until you are holding all three. 4) While holding those three buttons, press and hold fire, and do not let go of any of the buttons. It will happen after the explosion. Hopefully that will help you out.

  • When I hold L and R at the same time, it won't let me plant a superbomb.

  • i can do this easily now. ^_^

  • Ok I dont understand I did everything you said but for some reason it just doesnt work for me any suggestions?

  • You must have exactly:

    10 Missiles - 10 Super Missles - 11 Power Bombs

    1) Go into morph ball mode. (Press down)

    2) Press L, R, AND DOWN, and HOLD it.
