Where do you get your PE in your country then? Isn't it possible to synthesize pentaerythritol from erythritol at a simple lab? If you can get your hands on PE pretty easily, then make ETN/PETN for a very oxygen balanced and powerful energetic material.
Pentaerythritol can't be made from erythritol unfortunately :( But it can be made from formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, but the latter is very hard to come by.
i think i remember making some acetaldehyde in chemistry. its the chemical that gives cider its smell. dont remember much from chemistry class but it cant be that hard to find out how to make some.

Where do you get your PE in your country then? Isn't it possible to synthesize pentaerythritol from erythritol at a simple lab? If you can get your hands on PE pretty easily, then make ETN/PETN for a very oxygen balanced and powerful energetic material.

Pentaerythritol can't be made from erythritol unfortunately :( But it can be made from formaldehyde and acetaldehyde, but the latter is very hard to come by.

i think i remember making some acetaldehyde in chemistry. its the chemical that gives cider its smell. dont remember much from chemistry class but it cant be that hard to find out how to make some.

Yes, it can be made by oxidation of ethanol by dichromate in sulfuric acid (its the stuff that give you a hangover :P)and subsequent distillation, but that's just a pain.

You said the detcord was around 1cm thick, do you mean the inner diameter? For 20g of somewhat packed PETN to be able to fit inside a 2-meter-long cord, the inner diameter would need to be approximately 0,3cm thick..

When You say the cord is around 1cm thick, You don't mean that the inner diameter is 1cm, do You? I'm planning to make detcord myself from APANx, but the problem is that I would need to use a cord some 0,4cm in diameter, so that I would have 10g/m detcord. What kind of material would you recommend me using and how thick should it be? Thanks!

I use aquarium tube, but it must be the larger possible for an easy introduction of the explosive. Your APAN must be a very fine powder.
