I paint more historical stuff than fantasy( though I do paint my the occsional fantasy piece), but find your vidoes (and not just the ones promoting SCAHMS) fun and informative and this one was no exception.
I think one think you can try, to paint really tiny, one brush hair point wide blood splatters on the dryad, like she's strugling in the blood and it splatters on her.
Wow, that turned out awesome...would really pose a problem for any adventuring party...do you rush in to shave from the tentacles or just shoot her from a distance to be safe :D...Jim
excellent video, interesting watching you change your mind on various things. my only suggestion is that the blood is in my opinion too red. blood in that volume would be a deep crimson brown in my mind rather then a bright red, but that is just my take. very very nice piece
@cyphertheory Yeah the blood is not realistic, but I wasn't going for realism. Sometimes you have to decide to paint either what looks good or was is real. Plus by not paint realistic I can use the old painters excuse: It's magic! :)
thanks dude! Love to peak into some else's kitchen, so to speak. =P
BTW what is that stuff you use to top the blood of at the end? Future floor wax or something? What does it do? I mean does it dry and get a hard and transparent finish? Odd thing for just a floor wax (?)
@bazZy33K Future Floor Finish, or Pledge with Future shine. It's an acrylic floor polish that is very glossy and has many uses in modeling and painting.
Got an off-topic question :D Whats the name of the song you used for the "dance party" ? its awesome lol
Really nice home made Cauldron btw and cool painting. Im going to make an Anvil of doom from scratch, in the near future.

@FunkVJ You can find it on YouTube. It's from a series of foreign firework safety commercials. Finland I think.

I see must people are using the Model Color and not the Game Colors in these videos

@CaptCamping I have no preference to one or the other. I use both equally.

The Army Painter tuft grasses are just rebadged MiniNatur tufts, but nonetheless they are so awesome, I use them on everything I base.

Step 1: Find old paint recipe
Step 2: Decide to use old recipe
Step 3: ???????
Step 4: End up with Bronze patina!
Really like the end result even if it is a bit of a weird recipe!

@prophet89 I just updated the notes with an alternate recipe that might be easier to follow.
