  • that power supply is as big as my case O.o

  • LOL! the GPU has a bigger heat sink than the CPU XD

  • can a HD 5970 gpu run with my FSP EVERST 85-plus 600w PSU ?

  • @MrWonnabee No!

  • @kokuto1024

    thanks for answering 5 months later :) - i got a GTX 275 now....

  • EEEW

  • Funny little video.

  • all mainstraem mini itx boards

    should have the 780g chipset

    mini itx gamer boards should

have mxm mobility built in graphics

    and ddr3

  • where did you pull that out of your ass!

no mini ITX will be good for gaming or will have DDR3 in MANY MANY years!

  • Oops gave you a thumbs up. You should pull that out of your ass. My company already uses a modified MSI 9803 motherboard with DDR3.."many many years" is just ignorant anyway, wow. And speaking from experience, The 965 chipset coupled with a T7500 Core2 can play many games at higher resolutions (Red Alert 3 for one.) Crysis is different story and a video card will always perform better and free up the CPU but seriously dude- you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • This was in response to linuxrules "where did you pull that out of your ass!

no mini ITX will be good for gaming or will have DDR3 in MANY MANY years! "

  • hey, how much power does it consume on idle?

  • mine runs at 52 watts.

  • The chipset on that board ruins it

  • Agreed.

The 945GC sucks, the onboard GMA 950 is way too slow and it only supports first-gen DDR memory. And nVidia's Ion platform isn't really that good either.

Proper carputers should have proper decode(/encode) and a proper graphics processor.

And they should have SSD storage media and quick RAM memory (DDR3 for instance) for quick boot up and shock resistance aswell as integrated 3G, WLAN, Bluetooth and GPS capability and the ability to use external antenna for those interfaces.

  • for example an affordable mainstream ram drive can boot win xp in 4 seconds, the ramsan300 can boot windows xp instantaneously, changing a processor will not give you that, because a pc is only as fast as its slowest part. thats why scsi and raid0 and ssd's exists in the first place. Processor performance is overkill for the bandwidth of the hard drives that are available today, unless u own a ramsan300 that matches the cpu bandwidth of a quad core.

thats why cpu performance is not important.

  • Amazing how little knowledge people have. The Atom CPU only uses 3 watts max which is nothing and any tiny piece of heatsink can cool it with ease. The chipset on the other hand uses many more times as much power hence the cooling. YES it is a stupid mismatch of CPU and chipset. NOW, I dont understand the reason why anyone would buy an ITX board. Just get a older Pentium M laptop. The atom CPU is SLOWER than a 900mhz Celeron M. You can buy a pentium M laptop which would be FAR fastr for less.

  • ir dosent matter if the processor is a bit slower in bandwidth, becasue a processor CANT fetch data faster than the storage can give it, so you would not see a difference, fast storage is what makes a pc fast, not the processor or ram speed.

  • ITX board like these are great for small nasbox.

  • @angryjoy dude im currently doing an intel i5 mini ITX so please only dis atom's

  • @angryjoy wats a nasbox?

  • @shuffle953

NASbox is a network attached storage. You can look up on Wikipedia for more details.

  • @angryjoy oh ok thanks xD

  • The chipset fan is too loud :/

  • Anybody notice that the large heatsink is on top of the CHIPSET and not the cpu? lol

  • yea!! i was like WTF!?!?!

  • The heatsink with fan is to cool the GMA 950 graphic chip. The Heatcink without fan is to cool the Atom CPU.

  • Is this the Atom 230 or the Atom 330

I see two cores in windows taskmanager, so it sould be the 330 but when did this cpu came on the market??????

  • Now I get it, It has hyperthreading.

its a single core, the 230.

  • 40 watt total which close to my VIA c3@1.3g and much faster

  • They made a cool thing like the Atom sound really boring....

keywords: How not to make a videoreview

  • Nice video... But don't use 3,5" HDD on setup like that... Use 2,5" slow RPM HDD or SSD instead... It IS supposed to be low power setup anyways... Just my 2 cent..

  • Intel did the processor, now I'm waiting a good IGP solution from nVidia or ATi for the ATOM.

  • Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen.

Nvidia and VIA are teaming up by having a VIA Isaiah CPU with Nvidia based IGP. (Intel angered Nvidia's CEO recently with the PR for their Larabee and its ray-tracing abilities).

The VIA/Nvidia solution is planned to be a US$45 "affordable Windows Vista platform".

I have no idea when exactly it'll come though...Maybe at the end of the year?

  • Wha an nvidia chip on a mini-itx I think I'll wait for Isaiah comes out for my next mini-itx project.

Nvidia is well supported in linux which I usually run on these things.

  • Its been 2 months since I posted that, and things have been changing.

There's rumours going around in Taiwan that indicate Nvidia is using VIA in order to bluff Intel in a deal. (Nvidia really wants to sign up with Intel and their Atom processor).

Recently, Nvidia got Intel to support SLI capability on their next generation CPU. (Called Nehalem). Its the successor to the Core 2 series.

It looks like Nvidia support for VIA Isaiah (Now called VIA Nano) maybe up in limbo. ie: It may not happen.

  • i tough that power was a case

    omg thats a monster!

  • it's pronounced "super pie", not "super pee eye" ;)
