@jonahsa2000 I bought this one without playing the second. If you just get this one, it actually feels like a sequel to the original. There is nothing in it that you won't understand from not playing the original release. It really is its own game, and most of the story is the same from what I've read.

The Chuck Greene version is the official canon one, but this one's a what if game... or it could be a way for Capcom to determine which version IS better suited for being canon.

@fpsisfun It's just a re-interpretation of Dead Rising 2. If you are familiar with the first, remember how it was a 360 exclusive? Capcom wanted to let people imagine what if Frank West was in Chuck Greene's shoes during the time of Dead Rising 2 but also at the same time to make up for the fact that PS3 plays couldn't get their hands on the first in the series. As in new game they added more weapons and his iconic camera back.
