i have mixed opinions on this. it isn't nearly as bad as people are saying, but it is over the top. but if you're going to make fun of doctor who for being over the top, why are you watching in the first place?
I thought the cyberking was from the 70's or something because I have a poster from the magzine and had a look at it. Guess I was wrong! I was pretty freaked out by looking at the poster though
about the open-mouth problem, in the first close-up there is some kind of barrier sliding up into the top of the mouth. seems like it wasn't open at all until clear of the water
Water, like all matter, will surrender to gravity. There is NO WAY an object that size can be rise from under the river and leave the water undisturbed. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT. However, I keep an open mind, and by no means consider myself a genius...I would be thrilled to hear your explanation. humor me.
and as for that last bit, I smart enough to not HAVE TO THINK PARTICULARLY HARD to see something physically impossible because of the laws of physics. No, opinion is no match for FACT, and FACT IS, there is no way that the CyberKing could have risen from IN or UNDER the Thames without causing NO PHYSICAL changes to the river. Any other theories you'd care to share that can be dismissed by scientific fact?
Simple theory - being that it is Sci Fi, it may not have been within the special effects budget to add the touch of massive whirlpools or similar. To be honest, I was focussed on the awesomely giant stomping steampunk robot and for all my love of physics, cared little for the state of the water it had risen from!
And you obviously are so thick you don't know anything about physics - Even IF there was a metal grating as a platform allowing water to flow through, then why wasn't the underground cavern flooded at all times? And grating or no grating, there still would have been a gigantic whirlpool generated by falling water (since the cavern wasn't flooded.) thus the Thames still would have been drained...
1. It's science fiction. There have been more major errors in Doctor Who... a lot.
2. It's the Cybermen. If they can make a huge energy weapon wielding robot in the victorian era, they'll be able to find a solution for that I guess. Perhaps some sort of forcefield, or some sort of separation, rising up from the water around the robot.
I agree. The sense of scientific realism was permanently ditched at this point - honestly, how does something that tall get COMPLETELY submerged under the Thames standing upright? And don't say it was under the riverbed - if it were, it would have caused a giant, gaping hole in the river, causing a massive whirlpool. And the Doctor is revered as a "super hero" here. Like hollium says - a power rangers script that someone spilled a Doctor Who seasoning shaker on....
Its what you expect from RTD's stories though - apocalyptic plots/themes, pitting the Doctor against ridicuously astronomical odds, nameless people running, screaming and gasping in the streets - oh, and kids - almost every episode of NuWho, (especially RTDs) have centrally involved kids - Fear Her?
wait, which episode is this from?

I like the design of the king itself but I do find it......hard to believe since the mondosians had ships of there own..
If it was only something the cybus cybermen used THEN I could make sense of it.

The Cyberking is similar to the MasterMold from the X Men series: Giant factory of mechanical humanoids that resemble what they will create

@sixstanger00 Doctor Who barely ever makes scientific sense. So stop harping on about about how it's incorrect, pretty sure nobody cares.

@Tripsey128 not only does it rarely make scientific sense but it also screws over history...including it own
