It has become MUCH more popular... but one of the benefits is that it had attracted the attention of AMAZING people all over the world. Is there darkness? yes. Is it still something amazing? absolutely. (this was my 11th year.)

I have wanted to attend for years but living in Boston makes it almost impossible to pull it off with securing camping /housing/transportation to and from. But I just now found a RV company that will dive one to you there and set it up/ pick it up. Fully stocked. Called the Lux package LOL . I am in !!

My girlfriend lived in Boston when she went to Burning Man the first time. People go from all over the world and pull it off. Your best bet for first time and from distance is to get involved in a theme camp, pay them dues for food etc, get involved with the camp, and then do your on adventuring. All you'll need is a shade structure and an open mind.

I also believe there are a number of large camps that head over from the Boston area.
