The endless wars and conflicts indicate just how powerful we really are, but we need to retain our consciousness to use that power to give peace a chance and to allow people of all colour, of all races, of all backgrounds, to sit, and sing, and listen and recognize the most righteous thing instead of neglecting who we are, to cry without shame, to let go of our guards, to let the money slot keep running with no sentient recipient, all having fun reconciling their "opposites" for as long as now.
I hope we awaken soon because sharing the experience is what makes the game worth the candle, to be together, to love, to laugh at our divisive past, to forget about nation states, to forget about the masks of God, to forget who we think we are and to remember who we are. I am silly but so what? We have nothing to lose, we are implicitly together. Question is will the spiritual impoverishment that is now deteriorating bring my Palestinian artificial self closer to my Israeli brothers n sisters?

I am an ex-muslim, even though that does not matter, but becoming an atheist shed more light on my spirituality, individual efforts bring forth what is "truth", and that can only come about when we stop thinking as individuals and start realizing that omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence are present in and of the universe and everything in it. The mistake that conventional religion has made is to take "God" before those unifying qualities that are within us, the symbol before the understanding

I have no problem admitting I love Jesus. The sermon on the mount is beautiful but that does not mean I will worship the man and become Christian. Jesus called us to be like him and said our works will be greater than his. How could we do that if we are nothing like him? He is set apart because he is the teacher for that part of the world. When people find out who we really are we are set apart because everyone is sleeping. The irony in that is we are really one.

He completely skipped over the first half of verse 36. That's kind of an important bit to explain.
Alan Watts is the greatest spiritual philosopher of the 20th century and perhaps of the modern era but gets very little credit for being so. Geniuses like him do not fade away in history but eventually do receive the proper credit they deserve.
@xsimidv8 - I couldn't agree with you more... the man aggregates and articulates what I've always felt and questioned about existence and conventional "wisdom", and presents it in the most interesting, profound and humble manner. A true giant among insects!
