  • The Kingston Trio sang this the best! I used to sing Folk music a lot many years ago and of course sang this one with all of my heart. The words to this song will always be eternal. The message goes on generaton after genration, - with the main thing being: " WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN? " Nobody wins during war as on every side family members and friends cry over the loss of somebody they loved. " OH! ... WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN?"

  • Oh for crying out loud is there not one version of this song sung by Peter, Paul and Mary on all of youtube that isn't played live?????

My apologies to the maker of this video, as it truly is touching and it carries an important message.

  • I feel for you in regards to your loss, Cal - none of have died in vain and none will be forgotten.

  • I feel for you in regards to your loss, Cal - none of have died in vain and none will be forgotten.

  • Obviously a lot of the poster posting here were not around in the 60s and early 70s. I'll leave those to their own ignorance's.

  • @MrDanBlather Ok so you have admitted your wrong but young people cant understand anything about nam? It is ok to be wrong and a there is hope for a man that can admit to that.Young people can learn about nam but they need to know the truth and not a lie ok dan lets teach them that. Not something made up that the government wants them to read in a high school history book. To cover their ass.

  • Just when I begin to think we as a people have lost sight concepts such as Honor, Respect and Integrity I come across a video such as this.

    Thank you Sir for posting.

  • Y'all have missed the point of this beautiful and sensitive video. The losses are on a personal level and surpasses all politics or reason. I watched this with tears going down my cheeks. Thank you for making this video.

Love, A child of the sixties

  • @banfile7 Thank you for getting it.

  • @banfile7 that is true iam old enuff to remeber nam and crying when it officially ended being a school child myself and seeing some of the men that came back screwed up bad.CAL is a good man and all of us second generation nam war babies need to teach the younger people today about what really happened and cal is donig a very good job at that great smart discussions going on here.

  • Pete Seeger was a Communist and never served in the military. Get your head out of your rear end and your facts straight before posting tht kind of tripe.

  • @MrDanBlather Why don't you open your eyes and see what has really been going on if you're old enough? I don't care if Pete Seeger was a Girl Scout to be honest. Do you see Commies peeping out of your wife's blouse?

  • @MrDanBlather "His biographer David Dunaway considers this the first public manifestation of Seeger's decades-long personal dislike of Soviet Communism."

    Dubmass

  • @MrDanBlather You got to be kidding me.Your going to compare an anti war song to communism? You are off your rocker no one at that time cared they just wanted good leadership.Nobody stepped in to lead the whole thing was made up to make people money.

  • @MrDanBlather Except the truth is that he served in the army during WWII in the Pacific, first as an airplane mechanic then as an entertainer. You may want to take your own advice.

  • Unfortunately sometimes war is a necessary evil.

  • As long as the human race exists, there will be major conflicts

  • @kakasji As long as people continue to lie and think like you.

  • I'm soldier.... I respect opinion which you have stated here.

But...... someone needs to do that dirty work.

I lost several good friends (Americans) in Afghanistan. During the war in Croatia and relatives, so I know. There will always be war, be reconciled with that fact. We're only human beings and not gods!

I hate war too... but over there.....Kill or be killed.

    I love my life!

  • the american people thank you.One day we will all live in peace.

  • Impossible to attain true peace

  • i hate war, i mean it wont change anything -.- the ppl can speak with eachother instead of killing each other :/

  • The problem is greed for the most part. X has something that Y wants.

  • We had a period of relative peace after we pulled out of Viet Nam, but GHW Bush couldn't live with that.

  • Seriously there were reasons George Bush did as he did, so fuck off

  • @kakasji Yeah, all monetary. Why don't you?

  • @kakasji Look dude, People died in nam .You cant just judge a video. You had to have been in nam to talk about it.Going to nam and being drafted was a nightmare for young men of high school age.Man dont try and tell cal or me for that matter about war.You cant even remeber the draft.

  • beautiful song:

war is hell but necessary to protect our way of life and freedom!

  • @asku23 It is not necessary that we send people to die for our own greed, though.

  • As long as there are humans, there are wars, that's all to it

  • What is man, that he can give so very much for war; yet so very little, for peace

  • @ITILII It doesn't speak well of man, does it?

  • @ITILII

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind

  • sadly, I think we are going to go to have to deal with it again and again until we learn that war may not be the best answer for all our woes.

  • When will they ever learn?

  • it NEVER is

  • I was 8 or 9 years old and my brother, his friends and a couple of cousins were on their way to Vietnam..... The trauma it caused me is something I will never forget. I thought all the men I knew were going to come back as flowers.

  • I think any of us who lived through the era of the Viet Nam war are veterans of the war whether or not we went into the service. We lost family and friends, and had to try to help the friends who DID return cope with what they went trough the rest of their lives.

  • AWESOME
