  • Think this should of been called air disappoint as its lack audio play plus my pc screen res goes mental also it connects poorly and at one point my pc screen went black. My advice would be to get splashtop instead and save your money. 1 out of 10

  • what is the point of this app? I can understand why one would want the ipad/iphone on a large monitor, but why would I want to put my 15"-27" mac on a tiny iphone?

  • @loloschool If you were working with photoshop or most other graphics design software then you can use all of your screen space for the actual image editing and have your brushes and layers and such on your iphone or ipad where you can just tap on it with your finger instead of moving your mouse over to it.

  • Fucking Adds - Fuck Chev

  • can u use the touch screen on the ipad while in that mode?

  • Okay, so I just bought this app but have NO CLUE on how to set it up for PC. I followed the instructions on-screen but I connect to my device, and nothing happens.

  • This is an amazing app!! I just discovered it!

  • @headrc Yes, you can. At least that what i have read in reviews

  • Your accent is awesome!!!

  • Too bad we can't use it with USB (probably Apple fault)

Wireless connection means instability, it will be slow, battery won't least a long time, but that's a good "backup" idea/replacement for a second screen I think, or multi screen on the go!

And below 20'' displays are very cheap these days.

  • it only works for Pros or any MacBook?

  • @pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR Mac, PC, and linux. Any Mac!

  • @cjracer1000 sweet!! thanks dude. I always feel down thinking MacBook Pros have more advantage than ordinary MacBook

  • @pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR No problem! Pros are overpowered anyways. If you have a mac, you're not going to be using all of the power.

  • @cjracer1000 yeah I have a Mac...it's the white one. What's the difference between MacBook Pro and this regular Mac anyways? (sorry I'm new at it and lovin it)

  • @pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR I'm not 100% sure, but you can check apple's website for more info! All I know is that the macbook pro comes in larger sizes( I think) and it has a better processor, video card, and (maybe) a higher resolution screen.

  • @cjracer1000 oooh alright I'll swing by the Apple store. It comes with smaller ones too it comes in 3 different sizes I think. But the white one is only one size. That's true it might perform better and faster but thanks dude for the infos

  • @pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR Oh yeah dude no problem!

  • @pinoyALLmotorEVOIXMR You'd better look at Apple website for this.

The regular (most affordable Mac) MacBook (white) are made of plastic and Pro are made of one piece of aluminium. They use processor a bit faster but you won't notice in normal usage. For perfomance, look at desktop computers (iMac, MacPro) or expensive options on 15'' and larger screen MBP

  • @mathieuemi666 I was thinking of getting the desktop ones. Even though they're more compact than...those "other" computers..., I live in apartment and they're really not that portable :/ thought they are compact. Someday when we move to a bigger apartment or a house I'll take your advice. I used the desktop back in High School in media using Final Cut Pro. It's amazing.

  • it works on my iphone 2g and iphone 4 VERY NICE! cant wait for my ipad!

  • Applе suсks, information 100%

  • Apple sucks, information 100%

  • I really dont care about the second monitor deal, I have he app, what else can I use this app for other than a second monitor.

  • OMG! i just downloaded this and its soo awsome its actually a really convenient and smart thing

  • J-I-T-T-E-R-Y

  • This would be great to use for Logic to have the mixer and third-party plug ins on the iPad and the main screen on the MacBook! Awesome job. However, I'm probably going to wait until 2nd gen iPad comes out (hopefully it will have a camera by then).

  • what's the range of it, i mean how far apart can the Ipad (a wonderful device) be from the macbook?

  • @ergerq It works over your Wi-Fi network, so it depends on your router. Practically speaking, in most situations you could move it so far away that it would be utterly impossible to see anything on it!

  • @MacFormatUK Why a router? Doesn't it work just between two AirPort devices w/o a router?

  • @MacFormatUK it works according to the router? uhh well it says that you need to plug it in for the thing to recognize the ipad lol

  • @MacFormatUK can it work for a pc without wifi and im guessing the pc would have to be running right

  • @skralogy They both have to be connected to the same wireless network.

  • @ergerq Help! I need this to work between a large HDTV monitor and my ipad, will this do it? I want to be able use teh ipad to show others on a monitor how to do things on video. Is this the app?

  • @rhrossiter this is NOT the app you'll want, this is in between mac and ipad, to display your ipad stuff on your HDTV you'll want an apple TV, and the latest ios installed on your ipad. once u've installed the latest ios, it will do the rest itself, when watching a video, watching images, listening to a song, an icon will appear on the screen and you can select, it will probably say Ipad and apple TV, select Apple TV and the images, video or audio vill appear on your TV. this is called airplay

  • Looks great!

  • What if you already have dual monitors does the ipad add as a 3 display?

  • Great video although you didn't mention that it's touchscreen like other reviews have.

  • @boydcape True, sorry! I have corrected my oversight in the comments, but I'll edit the description to alert folks!

  • My friend has got that. He said he uses it all the time.

  • Hey thanks for the nice review!

I do have one question though - is this able to function if you set up a local wifi network using the mac? What I mean is, suppose I was working somewhere without a wifi network, would I be able to still use if I set up a wifi network from the mac's airport card?

    Thanks!

  • @Jopsych Yes; if you go to your Mac's AirPort menu and choose Create Network, you can create an ad-hoc network that the iPad can connect to, and Air Display is fine with working over that.

  • but is it still touchscreen...?

  • @brucebrendon How remiss of me to forget to mention that! Yes, it is, so you can interact with your 'Mac' windows by tapping the iPad's screen.

  • @MacFormatUK cool. be nice if there was a data via doc opt to reduce judder - i've always felt this would be a great standard feature (even syncing data from that desktop area - kind of snap N go).

  • @brucebrendon It would be great. Not sure of the technical challenges involved in that; suspect it may need support at a system level that may not be there. That said, the support, in iPhone OS 3 and later, for hardware input to the dock connector may mean it's already possible with a bit of grunt work.

  • @MacFormatUK i'd really like to see the dock use opened up to allow for an external soundcard
