@MrSigi1990 No which section do you think sounds lydian? Its all mainly natural minor and pentatonic stuff with with some minor 9 arpeggios (major 7 shape played a minor third above the root).
@MrSigi1990 I'm not the Radiohead guitarist. This was for guitarist of the year competition so its kind of meant to be along the lines of Vai, Satch etc. I'm more into John Petrucci and Malmsteen as far as shredders go but I wanted to show my more melodic side in the intro and outro sections. So I was thinking somewhere between a Dave Gilmour solo and a modern Jeff Beck sound.
Congratulations, you have talent and I have to say that I can notice a hint of John Petrucci`s style in your performance and the composition of course.
@RadicalRevs This is a live take over the backing from the "radio edit" version I made to enter guitarist of the year, so I have a version that's six minutes. I think the intro section is longer and the arpeggio riff sections are slightly longer too. It also has a slightly different first solo but I think I prefer my take on this one.
@lambgtr7 nothing to laugh about. it's not rare that you get chronic injuries in your back/shoulders from playing while sitting in an awkward position year out and year in..
@thousandsofangels I use my ergoplay classical guitar support for electric and play in the orthodox classical position cos it means I can keep my back and shoulders in a more natural positionand the guitar position helps me access all the frets better. Thanks for the compliment about the song. Sharing the name of the Radiohead guitarist seems to be a bit of a double edged sword.
@MyBottletree Yeah my name's Jonathan, but people have called me Jonny (no h as I'm not John that's my dad's name) since primary school. I didn't know that was the Radiohead guitarists name till I was about 18 and he got mentioned in a guitar mag. Its just some people on here seem to think its some kind of deliberate deception.
@stephendedalusbc Thanks I'm glad you liked most of it. Perhaps I could have played into the first solo a bit better. I was originally written to be a song rather than an instrumental and the solos were already written and I had riffs similar to the arpreggio parts on the 5th and 6th string. So there was supposed to be a kind of interuption from the solo there. I'll try to play into the solos more in future tracks.
@JonnyGreenwoodguitar Yeah I really loved the first and second part. Returning to the solo the first 5 notes are perfect and I think you should keep on that kind of rythm and mood, make it a "fragile" solo. Apply what means being "fragile" to the solo you know cuz it has to be the moment where you express what you feel one on one with the listener. Know what I mean ? ;)
@maxrome67 Perhaps if you find yourself living in Yorkshire. I see you're in Wales. I've listened to a few of your tracks. You sound a bit like James Dean Bradfield from the Manic street preachers.
@maxrome67 Thanks. I've got quite a few more pieces written, I just need the time and money to get them recorded. I don't have any recording equipment of my own. I'll probably be posting more covers and improvising fairly soon though.
Well, I gotta say, I was looking for Radiohead stuff... but this really impressed me. It's really good. I wish you the best of luck with your music. :)
@ShazerThe My name is Jonny Greenwood and this is one of my instrumentals. I'm nothing to do with radiohead despite having the same name as the lead guitarist, though I'm influenced by them in some respects.

@JonnyGreenwoodguitar
Well done, but let me know something...telling that it's a double edged sword, having this name isn't really serious or am I wrong?
I mean, I guess that your name is Jonathan, or John or something, but not exactly JONNY? + without the H...
Just wanted to know..

"Did you hear, Jonny Greenwoods here tonight"
"Oh it cant be THE jonny greenwood, probably someone with the same name"
"But it says he's playing guitar"
"Oh it must be him then..."
