@FataLxHaZe Check the LG website for the updates to the Optimus M that address these issues. Although the apps are from Android and if you think they suck, there's not much that can be done about that.
@mrfaithfull1 You can't check Deleted messages... they're deleted. Sent messages can be seen in Conversation/Threaded mode (I forget how it's worded on that phone.)
@SuperCcgamer Most people are well aware of MetroPCS network speeds, the phone has nothing to do with it. Metro has a predominantly 1x network with about 20% EVDO coverage which is being rolled out for stability, not speed. I had the Optimus for about 10 months and never experienced issues with dropped calls. Keep in mind also that this phone is no longer available for purchase from Metro.

@Babygirlas77 Go to Gallery -> open album where you want to delete photos -> long press on photo until it shows a green check box active, you will notice all the photos will now show a check box -> select the photos to delete -> select Delete
@Johnny7k13 Do a Google search for "I forgot my gmail account information" you'll see one of the first results is from Google Support called "I forgot my username - Gmail Help" click that and follow the directions.
@ladeeilluzion1 No Facetime for this phone, Apple keeps that all to themselves. Rooting simply gives you access to everything on the phone, for example you would be able to delete the pre-loaded apps that Metro locks onto the phone like MyExtras and Boingo WiFi. Rooting does void your warranty though.

it looks a lot better than metropcs huaweii ascend. that is the slowest phone i have ever had. it takes forever to load and forget having apps it doesnt have sufficient space.

@iRJoanne As far as I know the only way to rename a video file from the phone id to connect your phone to the PC via USB, browse to the video file, right click and rename.
@koolsk8ter111 1x is in the CDMA2000 family which was the start of 3G, true. But if 1x was 3G the indicator would say 3G not 1x. People get confused with the 2 versions of 1x (1x-RTT and 1x-EVDO). EVDO is where 3G technically starts, even though "3G" means 3rd generation the technical limits of 3G are based on speed... 1x-RTT falls far short of 3G speeds. In the same way LTE, HSPA+ and WiMax are called 4G, it's only because they're 4th gen techs but fall short of the 4G standards for speed.

The processor although it is supposed to work at 600 Mhz when NOT idle, it doesn't, for some reason they make this phone slow for metro pcs, when you slide the spaces, it lags, when you scroll the app screens it stops for a few seconds. In conclusion, if you buy this phone from Metro PCS make sure you root it, beacuse is worth it.
@italianodicuore Actually that lagging has nothing to do with the processor. It is running at 600MHz, but the Metro bloatware eats up a lot of that. Apps like MyExtras and Boing WiFi are always running, even if you've never used them they run. Rooting the phone and removing these apps does a lot to "speed up" the phone. I also suggest removing the apps, then doing a reset of the phone, it reallocates the memory, giving more of it to the user, just removing the apps doesn't do that.
Do you think you can tell me what apps I need to remove that I wont use such MyExtras, and are this apps recoverable when you erase them with the root tools program? What if I erase boing wifi, isn't this supposed to be useful for McDonalds or other hotspots? ok thanks for the replies.
@italianodicuore There is quite a long list of apps, more than Youtube will allow in a single post. But I found a good post on AndroidForums that will help, here: androidforums . com/optimus-m-all-things-root/253523-list-apps-safe-remove.html I would make one change to their list though, I wouldn't remove the Metro App Store it is the only way to get back Metro Branded Apps that you remove, it may also be used for Android OS upgrades.
@mikeclarkethethird The Huawei M835 is the MetroPCS version of the Huawei/T-Mobile Comet minus the hotspot feature & 3G (Metro has no 3G). I don't know much about the device other than the specs & reviews of the Comet, it seems like a great phone for the price: $79.00 for a brand new, no contract phone is awesome, however... it is a Huawei, has a super small low res screen @ 2.8", no info on the processor (i guess 600MHz or lower)... it's gonna lag, but you get what you pay for.
I have the ascend and unfortunately it does lag alot even with the 2.2 upgrade. it loses memory quickly as well. It has improved on battery since I downloaded juice defender. Overall the ascend is an ok phone, but I do want the optimus. Hopefully I'll get it before I start class in the fall.

@TeddyRager the huawei ascend lags a lot, i went to test huawei ascend out (that was the phone i was initially gonna buy) before learning about the optimus lg, just moving the lock screen across the page lagged, and everything was off a a couple of seconds when you touched the screen, i recommend the optimus lg, no lag at all, and works great! i just bought mine this Monday.

@MyMrpassword I did some looking around to find out about vinviper, and if you go to the vinviper. com website they clearly have it marked that their Android app isn't released yet (it says coming soon). You may want to check with them for more details.

@current18 In order to delete pre-installed apps you need to root the phone. As far as Flash goes, a stand alone Flash Player is impossible with this phone due to the type of processor used. Flash requires an ArmV7 or higher, the Optimus has an ArmV6, so therefore Flash cannot be installed. However, if you are only interested in Flash movies, not games, then try the free SkyFire web browser, it can convert Flash video into usable video for non-Flash enabled devices.
well any of the ear phones work for it as a mic? like a regular ear phones for like a ipod.. can people hear me through the phone if im using just a regular ear phone?
@shina603 anafg7 is correct, the phone is 3G capable but MetroPCS doesn't currently have a true 3G service, although 1x is technically considered to be a 3G technology.

@one8apc1 Yeah that's a real good deal.Just a word of advice, have your friend meet you at your nearest Metro Corp store so they can verify that he's selling the phone to you. Some people have had issues activating phones they've bought if the phone wasn't removed correctly from the original account. This way Metro can confirm with the original account holder and things will go more smoothly. Enjoy your new phone, and I'm glad my videos helped.

@True2TheBlueYoViGang If they made a 4G version of this phone I'd be happy. As far as the battery life and slow roll out of 4G phones, that's not entirely Metro's fault, the battery issue isn't their fault at all actually. If you look at any 4G LTE phone (verizon has a few) they all have battery issues and it's due to the way the LTE chips are made, those issues should be resolved once VOLTE is ready to go. These are the same reasons 4G phones are being released slowly. Patience.

@daisey138 Only if you are surfing on WiFi. If you are using 1x then no. The only company, as of right now, that you can surf/talk at the same time on the phone signal is ATT. That will change in the near future as LTE develops and companies like MetroPCS and Verizon start releasing LTE phone with VoLTE (voice over LTE)... that will allow for simultaneous surfing and talking. Just be patient, it's on it's way, Metro plans on releasing VoLTE late 2011 or early 2012. (that's the plan anyway)
@zzobrabre I used to have a Finesse too, music will go to Bluetooth only if you have a stereo Bluetooth headset. As far as the Optimus goes, I just tested mine with Google Navigation and it will send audio to my stereo Bluetooth headset, and wired headset but not my normal single ear Bluetooth. So, if your diving and have either stereo BT or a 3.5mm connection to your car stereo you'll hear it, that's what i do, if walking and using GPS use your earbuds.
@DrugFreeCraccHead I have not had any issues with freezing. I think a lot of the issues people have with phones (any phone) is that they forget that they are just phones and try to get them to be PC replacements. Keep in mind, the Optimus has only a 600MHz processor and limited built-in memory, so if you run a lot of apps and widgets it will slow you down. In short, you can't expect a $200 phone to do what a $1000 computer can do.

@cas23me I haven't had the chance to play with an Indulge so I can't say much about it. The Optimus is a great phone for the price if you don't mind the slower 1x data seeds. The Indulge has 4G, if it's available in your area, but does suffer from poor battery performance.
@ivancruzable You can, The Optimus M supports the following video types: MPEG4, DivX, WMV, 3GP, 3G2. If you are looking to watch Flash video on the web, by default it won't do it. The processor in the Optimus isn't compatible with Flash, but if you download the Skyfire Web Browser (free in Android Market) it will allow you to watch most Flash videos on the web. Skyfire converts the videos for you.
It does not have flash player so you cant watch regular tv most of the videos and you cant even open some of your emails .Dont buy .I am so regretful!You cant play farmville or cityville games

Hey Z, Iam really digging your videos and I'm at a bit of a cross\roads as to which phone to purchase the Ascend or the Optimus M. Originally I had my heart set on the Optimus and was all set to purchase it . However upon learning about the Ascend and the the better price I thought that the Ascend was the way to go. I have been doing my research and all though the specs are not that different. I have come down to the one thing that will help me make m y decision
@DonnieHaitian Any 3.5mm jack headset will work, or stereo Bluetooth works too. I have both, I have a Sony stereo BT headset and an old set of wired headphones from my really old Rio SonicBlu MP3 player that I just love. But I've heard good things about SkullCandy headset.s

@nichols4326 A Kyocera Domino is the simplest phone that MetroPCS has... again if you had done a little research you'd know that. And it took me all of a minute to find real free ringtones through the Android Market.
1. Open the Android Market
2. Search for "free ringtones" (no quotes)
3. Myxer will come up top of the list... it's free
4. Click on the "Free" button at top to start download
5. Click "OK" to accept permission and download will start

@TheCooolloser You could download them to your SD card via your PC or the phone itself (sorry I don't watch movies on my phone so I don't know of any sites off habd) Also make sure to register your phone as a Divix device: Settings -> About Phone -> DivX VOD Registration for more info, and your registration code.
@nichols4326 it's called a video... it has pause and rewind, and if you're looking for ringtones go to the Android Market and search for them, or use Google.
@sycho72 I believe there is an app out there for it, just be aware of a couple of things. 1st it's against MetroPCS' Terms of Service, 2nd you only are running at 1x (a little better than dialup) speeds.
@Hillermon126 Check and see if those other sites have apps for them. Chances are they use Flash on their websites and the Optimus doesn't support Flash. You can also try using the Skyfire Web Browser, it is able to convert Flash video on most sites to be watchable on the Optimus.

HI Everyone, I would Like to tell you about my LG Optimus.
1) Why the F*&% do they have a picture showing 3G at the Metro PCS Stores?
2) It's only $100 right now, its beautiful and has everything you could need
3) My brother was able to root it although they say it can't be done to ver. 2.2.1
and now it's running at 600 Mhz instead of the factory 245.
4) Battery life is decent, it should last at least 1 Day not a few hours like others.
5) If some one knows about making 3G Work please tell us :)

4) Battery life is about average for a smartphone.

Do you think you can tell me what apps I need to remove that I wont use such MyExtras, and are this apps recoverable when you erase them with the root tools program? What if I erase boing wifi, isn't this supposed to be useful for McDonalds or other hotspots? ok thanks for the replies.

@italianodicuore There is quite a long list of apps, more than Youtube will allow in a single post. But I found a good post on AndroidForums that will help, here: androidforums . com/optimus-m-all-things-root/253523-list-apps-safe-remove.html I would make one change to their list though, I wouldn't remove the Metro App Store it is the only way to get back Metro Branded Apps that you remove, it may also be used for Android OS upgrades.

@mikeclarkethethird The Huawei M835 is the MetroPCS version of the Huawei/T-Mobile Comet minus the hotspot feature & 3G (Metro has no 3G). I don't know much about the device other than the specs & reviews of the Comet, it seems like a great phone for the price: $79.00 for a brand new, no contract phone is awesome, however... it is a Huawei, has a super small low res screen @ 2.8", no info on the processor (i guess 600MHz or lower)... it's gonna lag, but you get what you pay for.

I have the ascend and unfortunately it does lag alot even with the 2.2 upgrade. it loses memory quickly as well. It has improved on battery since I downloaded juice defender. Overall the ascend is an ok phone, but I do want the optimus. Hopefully I'll get it before I start class in the fall.

@TeddyRager the huawei ascend lags a lot, i went to test huawei ascend out (that was the phone i was initially gonna buy) before learning about the optimus lg, just moving the lock screen across the page lagged, and everything was off a a couple of seconds when you touched the screen, i recommend the optimus lg, no lag at all, and works great! i just bought mine this Monday.

@current18 In order to delete pre-installed apps you need to root the phone. As far as Flash goes, a stand alone Flash Player is impossible with this phone due to the type of processor used. Flash requires an ArmV7 or higher, the Optimus has an ArmV6, so therefore Flash cannot be installed. However, if you are only interested in Flash movies, not games, then try the free SkyFire web browser, it can convert Flash video into usable video for non-Flash enabled devices.

@one8apc1 Yeah that's a real good deal.Just a word of advice, have your friend meet you at your nearest Metro Corp store so they can verify that he's selling the phone to you. Some people have had issues activating phones they've bought if the phone wasn't removed correctly from the original account. This way Metro can confirm with the original account holder and things will go more smoothly. Enjoy your new phone, and I'm glad my videos helped.

@True2TheBlueYoViGang If they made a 4G version of this phone I'd be happy. As far as the battery life and slow roll out of 4G phones, that's not entirely Metro's fault, the battery issue isn't their fault at all actually. If you look at any 4G LTE phone (verizon has a few) they all have battery issues and it's due to the way the LTE chips are made, those issues should be resolved once VOLTE is ready to go. These are the same reasons 4G phones are being released slowly. Patience.

@daisey138 Only if you are surfing on WiFi. If you are using 1x then no. The only company, as of right now, that you can surf/talk at the same time on the phone signal is ATT. That will change in the near future as LTE develops and companies like MetroPCS and Verizon start releasing LTE phone with VoLTE (voice over LTE)... that will allow for simultaneous surfing and talking. Just be patient, it's on it's way, Metro plans on releasing VoLTE late 2011 or early 2012. (that's the plan anyway)

@zzobrabre I used to have a Finesse too, music will go to Bluetooth only if you have a stereo Bluetooth headset. As far as the Optimus goes, I just tested mine with Google Navigation and it will send audio to my stereo Bluetooth headset, and wired headset but not my normal single ear Bluetooth. So, if your diving and have either stereo BT or a 3.5mm connection to your car stereo you'll hear it, that's what i do, if walking and using GPS use your earbuds.

@DrugFreeCraccHead I have not had any issues with freezing. I think a lot of the issues people have with phones (any phone) is that they forget that they are just phones and try to get them to be PC replacements. Keep in mind, the Optimus has only a 600MHz processor and limited built-in memory, so if you run a lot of apps and widgets it will slow you down. In short, you can't expect a $200 phone to do what a $1000 computer can do.

@cas23me I haven't had the chance to play with an Indulge so I can't say much about it. The Optimus is a great phone for the price if you don't mind the slower 1x data seeds. The Indulge has 4G, if it's available in your area, but does suffer from poor battery performance.

@ivancruzable You can, The Optimus M supports the following video types: MPEG4, DivX, WMV, 3GP, 3G2. If you are looking to watch Flash video on the web, by default it won't do it. The processor in the Optimus isn't compatible with Flash, but if you download the Skyfire Web Browser (free in Android Market) it will allow you to watch most Flash videos on the web. Skyfire converts the videos for you.

You can watch Flash Video with the Skyfire browser, & would you really want to play Farmville on a 3.2" screen? Oh, & also note that the iPhone doesn't have Flash player either, like most phones because Flash is a resource hog & makes phones lag. If you need to play games that badly, it's kind of sad

Hey Z, Iam really digging your videos and I'm at a bit of a cross\roads as to which phone to purchase the Ascend or the Optimus M. Originally I had my heart set on the Optimus and was all set to purchase it . However upon learning about the Ascend and the the better price I thought that the Ascend was the way to go. I have been doing my research and all though the specs are not that different. I have come down to the one thing that will help me make m y decision

1. The company behind the phones, LG makes some great phones. Hauwei, have you seen their other devices?
2. You get what you pay for.
3. I've used the Ascend and wasn't thrilled.
True the Ascend seems to have better specs: Slightly larger screen, more colors, more home screens. But when it comes down to it, the Optimus is better made, with better components, has more memory, & can support larger SD cards.

@nichols4326 A Kyocera Domino is the simplest phone that MetroPCS has... again if you had done a little research you'd know that. And it took me all of a minute to find real free ringtones through the Android Market.
1. Open the Android Market
2. Search for "free ringtones" (no quotes)
3. Myxer will come up top of the list... it's free
4. Click on the "Free" button at top to start download
5. Click "OK" to accept permission and download will start
6. Wait for download to finish

8. Open Myxer app
9. Either select a featured free ringtone or click Menu to Search, or make your own.
10. Download ringtone by using the "Get Ringtone" button

13. Select as Default, or for specific Contact (follow steps in app)
That's it, all done. Cover it for ya?

@Hillermon126 Check and see if those other sites have apps for them. Chances are they use Flash on their websites and the Optimus doesn't support Flash. You can also try using the Skyfire Web Browser, it is able to convert Flash video on most sites to be watchable on the Optimus.
