Slightly longer than the album version.Great.Even when they weren't really trying the Stones could still do it at this stage. But from Undercover onwards they were pretty much crap.Love 'em but 'tis true.
I always loved this song. Love Bill's bass, the guitar solo (and the solo here is longer than on the album), Charlie's syncopated drumming after the solo, Mick's Cockney accent. This video is 35 seconds longer than the song on the album. Never understood why people don't like this song.
It's comical how these young bucks argue the merits of punk, when in reality, punk was over by 1980. Now it's just another branch on the hard rock--rock and roll tree, which can be traced back to the Stones (and then of course, Elvis and Jerry Lee). If you think the Stones aren't part of that--you've got some schooling to do--but then, they probably don't teach you that in Guitar Hero.
Most of you dont know shit...Malcolm Maclaren used to take the Pistols to see Keith and Ronnie in the New Barbarians to learn 'attitude'....also the Saints (Brisbane band before the Pistols) when they arrived in London showed the punks up because you had to follow their fashion....dont get me wrong..I love the Pistols but their attitude was more against what was happening in London at the time ..ie Thatcherism blah blah ps its always been cool to knock the Stones it gets you street cred (yawn)
i read an article that ranked the 50 greatest stones songs and they had a seperate thing that said this was one of the worst....i wonder why? i love this song
By punkers do you mean like the Sex Pistols a brain child of MALCOLM, or the Clash a band whose previous members flirted with all different kinds of "POP" music?Because I think this is as raw as any of that pre-fabricated BULLSHIT!
no, punk has nothing to do with being rich jetsetter that courts the aristocracy and plays criket. hate to break it to you. The Who, the 13th floor elevators, mc5 but not the stones!
bricklane,I,m speaking more of musical style than life style.pete townshend got his windmill guitar move from KEITH!syd vicious was trying to look like KEITH! as far as punk fashion goes.before the stones got rich, they were boys of the london streets, but their musicianship got them paid.
I don't agree at all. Punk was an anti-money culture ,proud to ugly and anti royal family created by very lower class performers. Read Lydon's bio, he hates Jagger.
The windmill is not a music style it's a physical movement. This song is emabarrasing but I did wear out my casstte tape of emotinal rescue so what can i say? It was cool when I was 13
Betty,as you can plainly see in my last comment,I said"windmill guitar MOVE".and lydon hating jagger has nothing to do with syd trying to look like keith.if you get a chance, listen to respectable, lies, neighbors, summer romance, and RIP THIS JOINT!the stones showed the wannabe punks how it was done.
this is not punk rock dude, this is straight rock n roll, if mick hears this he'll get pissed off im positive.

Who plays the solo? Some say Ronnie trying to imitate Keef, but I strongly believe Keef, archetypical style of him.
