@konked wow I thought I was the only one who noticed the similarity between these two songs...and Acknowledgement from A Love Supreme by John Coltrane is also basically the same tune, just "more minimal" (yikes! an oxymoron)
Now im beginning to watch the videos you made from the beggining and so far im finding alot of them so cool,i dont think anyone on youtube can put them together as well as you Aaron(>^o^)>
Wow great clip and I know how much work that would have been synching the lyrics to the tune. May have been commented already but who did this version?
This version was performed by the wonderful Savoy Orpheans, the resident orchestra at the swanky Savoy Hotel, London during the 20s and 30s. They were also on BBC radio.
I've listened to this a hundred times I should think and I never tire of it. The Savoy Orpheans were absolutely wonderful and George Gershwin was a genius.
And I do certainly agree!!! This is one of my favourites. I cherish these videos about the roaring twenties. Thank God for Gershwin and his swinging music!
I couldn't agree more with you Miffy. As George says in the lyric the rhythm is so infectious it drives you insane. You have to get up and dance. What an absolute gem this is. Aaron you're a bloody genius.
i was so upset when you were off, i think that your clips are the best on youtube , you are one in a million . you bring joy to all of us , thanks adam
I was tossing and turning tonight...lamenting the loss of your former channel, and decided to log in. Then, while on stjn01's page, discovered a very familiar looking channel. Oh happy day! Welcome back, you old so and so!
What a fun way to take a speed reading course while enjoying to flavor of the old time movies!

Excellent posting. I have always loved Gershwin and especially to hear it in the 1920s style in the way it was intended to be heard.

Gershwin is great. Aaron Copland is one of my favorites.

Quite lovely, indeed, even if I'm a bit old-fashioned for this sort of thing.
