So. . . a bunch of RLM fanboys have found their way here and drastically marked down the man's video? That's not surprising. This is ridiculous. It's like religion now and Plinkett is an idiotic, irrational, hateful messiah of idiocy.
I would like Star Wars again if they released the original trilogy untouched with out any of the added shit. The Trilogy was a classic and untouched by time, it didnt need all that fancy stuff which sticks out like a large annoying splinter. If the original unalterd versions were brought out it'll sell like hot cakes and Star Wars will retain is dignity: Star Wars Trilogy the Immaculate Edition
"walked away from this franchise" lets say your girlfriend who u love and u'd die for comes back from after a long time , lets say - on a trip somewhere. she cheats on you, promises never to do it again. u love her. so u give her another chance. she does it again. u love her, you give her anothr chance. BECAUSE YOU LOVE HER. she cheats on u a third time and decides to sneak into your house and alter all the precious photographs u have of her-the best time of your life.. how would you feel?
so this is 2012. greedo shoots first. r2d2can move through solid matter. the originals are out in blu ray. all the movies are coming out in 3D. WHAT DO YOU SAY NOW? i never use caps lock btw. but you are an idiot. u must look back at this video and think to yourself: "why was i so stupid" but since you like the prequels and meddling with art im sure ull jst remove this vid and cgi in a new version of urself to make you look better, i mean- maybe the mona lisa would look better with a moustache
AND THAT'S WHY YOU AREN'T A STAR WARS FAN. "BECAUSE YOU WOULDN'T NOTICE" you are so up your own ass. we hated him for ruining star wars i love starwars. and its 15 years of screw lucas because hes been putting his middle finger up to the fans since the moment he realised phantom menace was a pile of crap. and you know that he knows its a pile of crap, the fact that you call yourself a starwars fan and like the prequels - boggles my mind. he wears the han shot 1st because it means fuck you .
that's why Lucas made that change.....because he got negative feedback on the nooo scene. Lucas is bitter. you have to take the prequels out of the equation. they change everything. and i cannot be happy with rots because it is a terrible movie. the prequels ruined star wars and you obviously aren't that much of a star wars fan if you like them .they are lazy, hollow, shallow pieces of crap that Lucas used to make money and make himself relevant again. he was jealous of James Cameron. you fool.
People coming in to see the prequel trilogy didn't want bad acting kids, or cartoon things running around making stupid jokes all the time, they wanted an in depth story with characters you can relate to, realistic adventures, well written romance, and plot line everyone in the world didn't know an ending to.We already know obi-wan will survive, somehow padme will eventually die, luke and leia will be born, all the jedi will die, and anakin will be seduced by the darkside.
In fact red letter media thought up of a better storyline for things to happen in the prequels. Have the clones be an evil army sent by the palpitine to destroy the republic. Then the senate raises a volunteer army of real people, not clones or robots, to defend the Republic with the help of the Jedi. This alone would have made these movies substantially better.
People are mad about these movies because George messed up so badly. Just about anyone with an imagination could come up with a better story line for these films, yes Lucas has quite the imagination to think up of something as huge as Star Wars, but he can not be in charge of the story telling or the writing!
You are wrong. The changes to the Vader scene where terrible! Why did it have to be changed? In the old version when he made the choice to help Luke and turned against the Emperor, you could see the conflict he was going through at that moment, and he was wearing a mask! Its like George Lucas didn't think that we the audience can comprehend what vader is doing, even if he doesn't say anything! Like he has to make it clear that Vader didn't accidentally throw palpitine into the pit or something
Yes I watch the widescreen VHS version because Lucas won't release the original non-special edition versions of the films in widescreen on DVD. Much less on blu-ray.
Also the moment I hit dislike was when you said people shouldn't critique art when they've not made it themselves. So I guess no one is supposed to ever offer advice or opinions on any situation they've never personally been in huh? In this case the situation is movie making, which RedLetterMedia HAS actually been in btw.
Loved the original trilogy, but the prequels are very disappointing. I haven't seen them in about 7 years. There's no real engagement with the charactors, story or universe in the prequels. Lucas didn't have as many really talented people surrounding him in the production team for the prequels and his directing seems to be 'shoot it and fix it in the editing'.
What the fuck do I know about art?! I know one thing: Art belongs to the world and art shouldn't be fucking altered!!!!! How's that for reasoning?
Also... Anakin was never "righteous" until he redeemed himself, and even then, how is Luke supposed to know who that is? My point is we should have seen those ghosts as he(Luke) remembered them.
this guy isn't a real Star Wars fan lol for the record I'm not a big Star Wars fan and don't claim to be, but I do realize George Lucas is fucking up a classic
Everyone that hates on star wars lately are people that didn't even grow up with the originals. I love all six movies, and have been around since the beginning. It's these 'new' fans that seem to think they owns Star Wars. Prequels were awesome. If 'fans' had just shut the -f- up they could've been even more epic.
@Adventurer07 So by not voicing our opinion the prequels would have been more awesome? I..uh..wut? An opinion doesn't change what was printed.
You're also amazingly incorrect. A lot of the people who think the prequels suck DID grow up with the originals. I remember watching them a lot on the original VHS releases when I was a kid. It sounds more like you're just buttfurious that we're not sucking Lucas's cock.
I agree with the fact that there are some people are definitely filled with hate over this stuff which is pretty silly. But the truth is that RLM is right about just about everything. I admit I didn't watch all of your vid's but theres so much wrong with most of the changes done to the old versions, and the prequels are just flashy and without substance.
In my opinion, lucas's is a pioneer in visual effects, he brought CGI to the world, but is weak at everything else. Hes even admitted it.
You should get it in your head that we love Star Wars so much that we hate the changes Lucas has done BECAUSE we loved the original version so much more. You know there are things that were good like different cutting for the Obi Wan Vader duel, to see Luke meeting his friends on the base etc. but why the fuck would you add dialogue in the most iconic scene of the movie? for what? It only serves as an ENORMOUS distraction and that goes for almost all of the changes and that SUCKS!
06:34 it was like, 'oh my god', you know, it was like, 'wow', know wha' i'm sayin'?
You know, if you just cut all the dribbling hyperbole, you could probably sum up what you're trying to say in two or three lines. You'd still be talking s**te though.
You are taking legit criticism of a three poorly made prequels as "hate". You don't get Star Wars. You don't get movies. That's fine. "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back" are movies that came from a place of inspiration. From "Return of the Jedi" on, it was about making toys and taking advantage of shleps like you. If that doesn't piss you off, then I guess you really don't care about Star Wars.
You know....The Prequels had the most wooden acting in any movie[s] I've seen...You know? Love it all you want ...You know...Couldn't appreciate...you know?...the plot...You know?...Zoom?...You know? wtf are you talking about?.... you know?...I hope that isn't ...you know distracting...you know...I don't really have a point either....you know?
I just pretend like the prequels and special editions don't exist, and everything's cool. I'm still baffled as to why you think adding dialogue was a good idea... actions speak LOUDER than words after all.
The facts remain, the blu ray additions are totally unnecessary and the prequels were largely badly written, badly acted and badly directed. Red Letter Media is correct.
RedLetterMedia is a BIG HEAD! One may think that confusedmatthew with his about half-hour sloppy reivews like his asinine "review" of The Lion King is bad. Take a look at RedLetterMedia, who is a far more obsessive-compulsive nitpicker than CM sicne his reviews are the duration of full length films!
@taffysaur RedLetterMedia is the KING of nitpickers, his head is even much bigger than that of confusedmatthew. I may have thought that confusedmatthew was atrocious with his about half hour reviews such as his disgusting review of The Lion King was bad. Take a look at this BIG HEAD, this reviews are vastly more nitpicky and those reviews are the length of full length films. "It's easier to destroy than to create," so true!
you must recall that Padme comes from naboo, a planet that contains a big prejudice against gungans, something padme might have been raised in. to her the lives of creatures such as sandpeople and gungans might not weigh heavily as the lives of humans and other sentient jedi children
@pizzamanchris14 okay, so basically you are inferring that Padme is a racist. What a lovely female character to sympathize with. I found it incredibly stupid that Padme "died" of a broken heart when Anakin turned to the dark side, and would not even try to stay alive to care for her children. What a pathetic individual. Sorry, but the character of Padme is just another example of horrible writing.
I'm sorry, I must have wrote it wrong. My point is: Since he did NOT bring his mother along, this caused him to join the dark side. Had he gone back and freed her, and brought her to Coruscant, then he perhaps could have avoided going to the dark side. Since his Jedi "teachings" told him to neglect her on Tatooine, his anxiety of her wellbeing caused him to turn to the dark side.
Lucas is not a "poor parent." He's a rich asshole with no regard to the films' legacy to others and he can't leave well enough alone. I'm glad that Spielberg realized what damage he had done to E.T. and has pretty much disowned it, even though some of the effects were cool to have seen updated (the bicycle scenes).
Actually, the matte lines are more apparent on the DVDs than the VHS. Of course zooming into the picture works for you, since you have a small piece of shit TV, but it looks like shit when you try to do it on a 60 inch TV. If Lucas could provide film-sourced, anamorphic versions of the films' trailers, then why couldn't have the same thing have been done with the original editions of the films? That's all I want.
Lol, this guy's video is him bitching.......about other people bitching. The irony is probably lost on him.
Also, he doesn't seem to be the most critical guy, his argument boils down to "I don't mind it". Great dude, you don't mind all the garbage Lucas did to the OT, a lot of people do. Get over it or whine and bitch about SW fans "bitching". Up to you.
@OrionIISagan190 "neophobic" lol? Give me a break. I'm serious, if you don't understand why people get pissed when something they love is changed, then i don't know what to tell you. And people hate the changes to SW and Lucas' condescending and arrogant attitude towards SW fans. I don't give a shit personally, I watch my old VHS copies and ignore the awful PT. Lucas can change stuff till the wheels come off but he's ruining classic movies and pissing off his fanbase.
you just cant deal with gettin this crap when I got star wars fresh off the griddle.find something new dumass!!!R.L.M. sucks 860 views worth ...ooooohhhh thats you
I think you've done a great thing in making these. For the record, I like Episode VI and LOVE all the other 5 movies. Simply put, I consider myself a TRUE Star Wars lover. I won't say a TRUE Star Wars fan likes all the movies, but there are plenty of Star Wars fans who like the prequels, and I can see why most people prefer the originals, but I think a TRUE Star Wars fan at least appreciates the entire saga for what it is, instead of what they wish it to be. And the Blu-Ray changes were FINE!
@AGEOFAENYA I have several issues with this entire saga and its creator. inconsitant characters, a vague storyline, unnecessary additions... Vader's redemption is just one.
This guy talks like a retard. I lost track of how many times he said, "like" or "man" or "you know." You have no understanding of film whatsoever. Star Wars is art. It is cinematic history and it should not be changed. Stop being a Lucas apologist.
Thank you! At last someone who understands. Lucas can do whatever he wants with his movies and no amount of crying or online petitions will ever change that fact. You either go with the flow of the new releases or just give up on the saga. It's that simple.
Oh and that zoom part was hilarious man! Can you say ZOOM?
I have something that defeats all your arguments, it is undeniable, & when I say it you will not be able to say anything to prove me wrong. Ready? Here it comes: In AoTC Anakin kills CHILDREN & tells Padme this. She forgives him (even MARRIES him & treats HIM like the victim), but then in RoTS when Obiwan tells her he saw Anakin killing children, she says, "No, I don't believe that. I can't!" Lucas can't write. RedLetterMedia is 100% correct in all of their assertions. The end.
@Gorshkin111 She didn't care because they were children to be bred as savages. The children Anakin killed on ROTS were children raised to defend the innocent.
Seriously, Red Letter Media does SUCK, and people should stop acting like his opinion is the best ever. And he fails at trying to be funny with that annoying voice he made.

@Gorshkin111 He killed monster children that grow up to become heartless murderers. That's, um, slightly different than killing Jedi kids, don't you think?
@AGEOFAENYA Ummmm...no. No, you heartless prick, NO! They are a TRIBAL PEOPLE! They had fire, clothing, houses, a FUCKING CULTURE! The children ARE NEVER responsible for the sins of their parents. Let me ask you something: Would YOU forgive ME if I were to go over to Afghanistan, find the children of the people who attacked the U.S. on 9/11, and KILL THEM? I hope to GOD your answer is no.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@Gorshkin111 As far as we know, Tuskens aren't even human . . . so if you were to murder a bunch of alien children who kidnapped and murdered your mother, I might be more understanding. And let's not forget that the original argument was how Padme's reaction differed from how she reacted to Jedi younglings; and all I am saying is Jedi younglings is a far cry from Tusken children. Also, why do YOU forgive Vader after blowing up Alderaan, just because he saved Luke he becomes a good guy?
@AGEOFAENYA Vader didn't blow up Alderaan. General Tarkin gave that order. The Original Trilogy did a much better job showing Vader as a crony just following orders, being manipulated by the Empire. The Prequels start him off as an asshole kid, then an asshole Jedi, then an asshole Sith. Not once were fans shown a character that was redeemable & could return from the dark side. The prequels are a false canon. The originals were a collaboration. The Prequels was all George with no outside input.

@NatedogO33 In ANH, we are led to believe that Tarkin outranks Vader, but then in ESB Vader becomes second only to Palpatine. Regardless of who gave the order, Obi-Wan makes it clear that Vader hunted down and murdered the Jedi, but is redeemed simply for saving his son. In the PT, Anakin is complex; he isn't one dimensional, but sometimes acts immature, which is normal for teens. He risks his life to save Obi several times, and we sympathize when he loses his mom and dreams of his wife dying.
@AGEOFAENYA We aren't led to believe Tarkin outranks Vader, he DOES outrank him. Leia compares Vader as a dog on Tarkin's leash. When he tries to use the force to choke a man for his lack of faith, Tarkin orders him to release the man & he does. Vader becomes second to Palpatine after Tarkin dies on the Death Star. In ANH, Obi's speech made it sound like maybe Vader battled trained Jedi to their deaths one by one. In the prequels, we learn he slaughterd them as children. I give up on this saga.
@NatedogO33 A normal guy outranks a Sith Lord? That makes no sense, and it's unclear based on the film. Even if Vader didn't "give the order" he certainly didn't protest or cry fowl. Obi-Wan specifically states that Vader hunted down and killed the Jedi . . . not that they died in a one-on-one duel. Even Yoda considers him irredeemable. Watch all six movies in one sitting, and you'll be amazed by its cohesiveness, considering it was spread over 30 years. It's the greatest saga ever made.
@AGEOFAENYA Tarkin DID outrank Vader. Otherwise, he would have told him to kiss off as he choked the non-believer to death. Why else did he obey when some weak old human told him to stop? & you're right. that doesn't make sense that he out-ranks a Sith. But that's the way Lucas had it. Why else did Leia refer to Vader as a dog on Tarkins leash? He's also the one who told Vader to terminate her when she didn't reveal the Rebel base. Vader should be barking these orders if he were in charge.
@NatedogO33 So you agree that the OT is essentially flawed, and that the same criticisms lobbed at the PT can apply to the OT, and then none of that shit matters anyway because the movies are exciting, imaginative works of fantasy which don't need to be perfect to be entertaining, because flawlessness does not necessarily = good movie, otherwise your favorite movie should be "A River Runs Through It" or some boring shit like that. I rest my case.
@AGEOFAENYA Just because they're flawed, but have cool things happening in them , doesn't mean I automatically have to like them. I am uncomfortable re-visiting a universe where the worst human being goes to a positive afterlife after slaughtering children & attempted to strangle his own pregnant wife. It's great you enjoy a story like that. Really. To me that's the equivalent of finding a Nazi soldier who killed women & children got to go to Heaven because he shot Hitler & loves his own son.
@NatedogO33 So your issue is with the OT, where Vader's redemption takes place? The fact that you are surprised about his slaughtering children and strangling his wife is ridiculous---even being an accessory to the deaths of BILLIONS on Alderaan, including women and children, makes him irredeemable. But Yoda makes it clear in ROTS that life becomes one with the Force after death, there is no "heaven"; it is more like the law of conservation of energy. What a Force ghost is is a mystery.
@AGEOFAENYA Why not show Darth Maul, Darth Sidious & Tyranus as ghosts at the end of ROTJ? Obviously Lucas was showing the 3 Jedis in a better place, letting the audience know Vader was "saved" The story is so vague, you can add or omit anything to make the story more likable. I would have liked to have seen Anakin break down and cry after slaughtering the Jedi kids, like he did after killing the Sandpeople, showing remorse for his actions. Someone like you would say maybe he did, offscreen.
@NatedogO33 Don't forget that Anakin told Obi-Wan that "the Jedi are evil to me." And Palpatine said, "if we don't get rid of the Jedi there will be endless civil war." Lucas is trying to say that evil people think they're good; Al-Queda see themselves as freedom fighters. This is more interesting to me than your typical cliched bad guy. I think we see those three ghosts in particular because those are the people that mattered to Luke; it's his vision after all, nobody else sees them.
@AGEOFAENYA You just said Jedi ghosts are a mystery. Now you have an explanation. See? Vague storylines to fill in the blanks any way one pleases. That was fine when it was just the OT, but when Lucas made the prequels, not only does the plot have gaps, so do the technical aspects. For instance, why does R2 fly in the past but not the future? Someone like you can say, maybe his jets didn't work in Luke's time. Really? He was fixed several times in the OT, no one thought to fix his jets.
@NatedogO33 I have an explanation for why we see 3 ghosts; I never explained what Jedi ghosts are supposed to be. The story is solid, but the SW universe is a mystery. Not everything is explained, nor should be. A little mystery makes it more interesting and believable; we do not know every detail about Earth. R2 never flew because he never had to; he is a Swiss Army knife. In each movie, he does something different: buzz saw, lightning prod, etc., why should jets be any different?
@AGEOFAENYA Because if he had the jets, he wouldn't have fallen off Jabbas sail barge, he wouldn't have fallen in the Dagobah swamp, and most importantly, he wouldn't have been captured by the Jawas. He could have flown to Obi Wan himself. You may think of it as a cool mysrtery to ponder, but in real life, there is no mystery. The writers didn't bother to review the old movies to make sure they weren't adding stuff that compromises the original story.
@NatedogO33 In the sail barge, he had a restraining bolt. In Dagobah, he tripped and was eaten. His jets work like a jetpack. He can float, but can't just up and fly like Superman. And yeah, I like mysteries; it's what makes Star Wars what it is. There is so much crazy background stuff happening, you have to wonder what it all means. What's that blue elephant playing the piano? What's a Grand Moff? Who's Mon Mothma? Face it, that's Lucas' style. Watch THX 1138 and you'll see the same thing.
@AGEOFAENYA I don't mind mystery, but this is lazy writing. This is a writer saying, "oh, lets add something real cool" but not bother making sure it doesn't compromise the story. I find it interesting you mentioned the restraining bolt. Must have been a defect on it, because it didn't stop R2 from firing the light saber, or rolling off the sail barge. Maybe R2 tripped into the swamp, but nothing stopped him from flying out. & R2 DID fly. Watch AotC again, he flew across from high up
@NatedogO33 Don't forget that AOTC came first, so you should ask yourself, "Why doesn't R2 use his jets on the sail barge?" Considering 30 years have gone by, and he's been blow up and rebuilt half a dozen times, who knows? Jetpacks can fly straight up, but are limited by fuel and thrust. There of similar cases in the OT, like: Why didn't Vader use the Force to stop Luke from falling? Why doesn't Yoda, if so powerful, help Luke fight Vader? I could go on. Or do you hate the OT as well?
@AGEOFAENYA I been losing my interest in SW since RotJ. I seemed to be the only one who liked the first 2. Everyone else only liked "Jedi" because of the effects. I agree with Seth McFarlane. Might as well call that one "Episode 6, The Great Muppet Caper" After having to sit through the putrid performance of those "actors" in the PT, I am convinced SW saga is only loved for its special effects. If they delivered their lines better, maybe I could ignore the inconsistencies as I used to in the OT.
@NatedogO33 I hate when people say, "it's just about SFX". Matte painters, puppeteers and programers work just as hard, and are just as brilliant, as writers and actors in bringing fantasy/Sci-Fi to life. Cinema, as Lucas sees is, is a visual medium; Impressionist paintings in motion. As for the script, compared to typical cliche/formula Hollywood crap, like Men in Black, Transformers, Green Lantern, etc., Star Wars is light years ahead. Why else would we be discussing this 30 years later?
@AGEOFAENYA In an earlier comment you said: "Don't forget that AOTC came first, so you should ask yourself, "Why doesn't R2 use his jets on the sail barge? " I DID say that. I said: "if he had the jets, he wouldn't have fallen off Jabbas sail barge " He also would have flown to Ben, bypassing the Jawa & Tusken attack, hitched an earlier ride to Alderaan & got blown up by Grandma Tarkin.
@Gorshkin111 Here's a retort. The Lars family all expressed feelings of hate for the tuskens. Clieg Lars said "They may look like men. But they are vicious mindless monsters." Anakin called them animals and Clieg spoke of a rescue attempt where a large posse of farmers rode out to save Shmi and only a few returned. Some with horrible injuries such as Clieg losing his leg. So Anakin was avenging his mothers kidnapping, captivity & torture for a month, and finally her death.
@THXLUH1976 Yeah but the killing of women and children who took no part in Shimi's death was totally unwarrented, and was completely against what the Jedi's stand for. Sorry, but killling the entire village made no sense, and it kind of just showed that Anakin turned to the Dark side right then and there. Therefore, it makes no sense when Padme is surprised that he killed children a second time.
@HardikG121 They are savage tribes. While they didn't cause her death they certainly didn't try to help her. Why? Because they are all indoctrinated into the tribal thinking and beliefs. There are tribes on earth that are just as brutal and do worse things to people than tuskens would. Cannibals anyone? A kid from one of those villages would not hesitate to eat your eye or thump you around if you attempted escape, etc. Would you avenge your mothers death from viscous treatment like that?
the difference is the jedi are the gurdiands od peace and justice. while in the tudsken raider family, the mother are the husband of barbarians who kill people, wile the young tusken raiders are raised to be barbarians
@Albekizan But if the jedi stand for "peace and justice" was it in the the best interest for Anakin to kill ALL of the Tuskens? Sorry, but that sounds like something the dark side would do. Furthermore, it is said that Jedi do not act out of revenge, and Anakin clearly went overboard here. There it does NOT make sense that Padme was surprised that Anakin would kill children AGAIN.
I know the jedi do not act revenge. but padme is not in the jedi order. the jedi and padme are part of the republic, while tusken raiders were not part of the republic. and what i mean is padme was part of the jedi order.
@THXLUH1976 .. After leaving her on Tatooine as a slave for however many years it had been since Qui Gon and Obi Wan had bought him? Yeah, he was a real saint.
@THXLUH1976 I see, so "no attachments" means "leave her in slavery, then get all murdery when she dies"? Oh, I understand, it all makes sense now! See, George Lucas really IS a good writer!
@THXLUH1976 How contradictory..... If "no attachments" means that he can simply leave his mother to perish, then it also means that "no attachments" makes it easier for someone to join the dark side. Sorry, but that point is impossible for you to defend. Since he left his mother, and was not attached to her, that caused him to join the dark side.
@HardikG121 What? Your post made no sense. Listen, If he had no attatchments that would mean his mother would not be apart of his life. All jedi only have other jedi as family. So your confusing post is hard to follow. I quote you "Since he left his mother, and was not attached to her, that caused him to join the dark side." What? No, no, no. BECAUSE he had attachments for her and came back to Tatooine to act on them, those actions BASED on attachment drove him to the darkside.
Yeah, there are three clear differences between those two scenarios. First is who the victims are. One is the members of a race that not only hates all outsiders but are consistently violent towards them (attacking Luke/3-PO for no reason, shooting Podracers for sport etc). And then they not only killed his mother, but brutalized her for a month beforehand. The kids did nothing to anyone. Then there's how the information was revealsed to her. Anikan owned up the frist tiem.
Obi-Wan had to tell her what happened with the Jedi, and when she asked Anikan didn't deny it but avoided brining it up. Last is Anikan's reactions. In CLONES he was clearly shaken up by what happened and upset that he did it. In SITH he avoided saying it outright but made everything he did sound like it was for the greater good. Am I saying that the films areperfect or you need to like them? No. But that's no reason to demonize every last ounce of a film.
@SLPIFan nor is it a reason to say that RLM is 100% correct. he makes some pretty good points, i'll admit, but damn, some of his logic is just horrible. sometimes he just completely contradicts facts that are presented in the movie just to make it look like the plot is flawed. most of his points can be easily refuted.
the difference between sand people and the younglings the jedi serve justice and peace of the republic while the tusken raiders dont worlk for the republic and act like barbarians
@Gorshkin111 w/out bothering to put too much thought into it-- i.e; assuming you are "100% correct", i could point to as many moments in the OT that are just as hard to reconcile.
so what? i still love the OT, just like i love the PT. i just love star wars. if you don't, then go watch something else, why do people have to devote so much time to hating on something?
@Gorshkin111 i think the argument about padme being shocked at anakin for killing younglings and not as much or at all when killing sand people, was that it was the shock of killing his own kind. It was the film's point to show that most people would react the same away if nomad hated sentients that constantly attack the planet, killed your mother. He doesnt react as other jedi, cause the whole point is that he was trained to late in life to recondition himof his attachment issues..
@swtcw27 ...as well as his human emotions he learned in the first ten years of his life, while other jedi wouldnt seek revenge due to being trained from almost birth to not have any attachments thatll lead to jealousy, anger, lust for power, that even other jedi fall to sometimes. When he killed his own kind, it was less accepted and disbelieved by padme, and especially by others who didnt know about tusken slaughter. It was more shocking than avenging a moms death from oppressors
@swtcw27 ok maybe not most would act the same way if their mom was murdered but there are those that would, and the combination of hate of his life as a slave as well as the seduction of the darkside fuelling his anger and increasing his power and corruption, like a drug, helped aid in this. The problem is, this is never expained in the films...the nature of the darkside, mostly eu, and thats bad
FUCKYEAH ! YOU RIGHT MAN , WE NEED TO HAVE A OPEN MIND , GREAT VIDEO . I LOVE STAR WARS FROM 1986 AND I A BIG FAN OF ALL THE VERTIONS OF THE FILMS AND OFCORSE I LOVE THE BLU-RAY CHANGES . HE HE SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH IM FROM MEXICO CITY
Dude! You're awesome! I agree with you man! Keep up the great work! I just subscribed. I'd love to see more Star Wars related videos from you! Do you collect Star Wars action figures, toys and collectibles as well? May The Force Be With YOU!
Wow, I come back to this video after a while and I see the haters dont waist anytime. More dislikes than likes, the top rated comments being completely ignorant. Jeez thank god all the Star Wars haters stay on the internet otherwise I'd have to here their constant bitching about the prequels everywhere I go. All I can say is don't worry my fellow star wars fans, we'll be the lasting breed. The hate will die out.
You're missing the point entirely. The main reason Star Wars fans are so pissed at Lucas is that he wont just leave it the fuck alone.
And you're talking about Vader regaining his humanity: We all got that the first time we saw Jedi in it's original form. The problem is that, thanks to the prequels, Anakin doesn't seem to have humanity to regain. He was never a great man who was turned by evil, he was a miserable little shit who was clearly going to be a bad guy towards the end of the trilogy.
To tell you the truth I actually liked the other special editions especially the 2004 versions but the changes to the Blue Ray were horrible. Darth Vader saying "nooooo" sounds so out of place and there's really no point to it since we can obviously tell by his actions that he reformed back in to Anakin Skywalker. The new Krayt Dragon call sounds like a retard getting killed in a cave. The Ewok eyes are fine but there was no point of a random dug walking in Jabba's palace.
Was going to try to provide some coherrent answer to this, but an account created solely to release bile like this, is not really worth the effort.
No arguments, no points, just 45 minutes of you yelling about how retarded everyone else is and then a terrible self-glorification part where you seem to have a need to prove just how much deeper your self-entitled understanding of Star Wars is.
At least put effort in your "obligation" instead of turning it into shit-spewing.
You got it all wrong buddy; people that don't like the prequels don't have to relax; the people that like the prequels need to relax. Those movies weren't classics; just cinematic diarrhea
@Foebane72 A fan loves "everything" about Star Wars. Now if you want to bash something, bash the Holiday Special because THAT was the true abomination.
So. . . a bunch of RLM fanboys have found their way here and drastically marked down the man's video? That's not surprising. This is ridiculous. It's like religion now and Plinkett is an idiotic, irrational, hateful messiah of idiocy.

I would like Star Wars again if they released the original trilogy untouched with out any of the added shit. The Trilogy was a classic and untouched by time, it didnt need all that fancy stuff which sticks out like a large annoying splinter. If the original unalterd versions were brought out it'll sell like hot cakes and Star Wars will retain is dignity: Star Wars Trilogy the Immaculate Edition

AND THAT'S WHY YOU AREN'T A STAR WARS FAN. "BECAUSE YOU WOULDN'T NOTICE" you are so up your own ass. we hated him for ruining star wars i love starwars. and its 15 years of screw lucas because hes been putting his middle finger up to the fans since the moment he realised phantom menace was a pile of crap. and you know that he knows its a pile of crap, the fact that you call yourself a starwars fan and like the prequels - boggles my mind. he wears the han shot 1st because it means fuck you .
chris27scot 1 week ago
that's why Lucas made that change.....because he got negative feedback on the nooo scene. Lucas is bitter. you have to take the prequels out of the equation. they change everything. and i cannot be happy with rots because it is a terrible movie. the prequels ruined star wars and you obviously aren't that much of a star wars fan if you like them .they are lazy, hollow, shallow pieces of crap that Lucas used to make money and make himself relevant again. he was jealous of James Cameron. you fool.

Why not have these set in a earlier time period with new characters so there is actually a bit of tension and suspense!
TheSillyJimmy 2 weeks ago in playlist More videos from TheLuminous777
People coming in to see the prequel trilogy didn't want bad acting kids, or cartoon things running around making stupid jokes all the time, they wanted an in depth story with characters you can relate to, realistic adventures, well written romance, and plot line everyone in the world didn't know an ending to.We already know obi-wan will survive, somehow padme will eventually die, luke and leia will be born, all the jedi will die, and anakin will be seduced by the darkside.
TheSillyJimmy 2 weeks ago in playlist More videos from TheLuminous777
In fact red letter media thought up of a better storyline for things to happen in the prequels. Have the clones be an evil army sent by the palpitine to destroy the republic. Then the senate raises a volunteer army of real people, not clones or robots, to defend the Republic with the help of the Jedi. This alone would have made these movies substantially better.
TheSillyJimmy 2 weeks ago in playlist More videos from TheLuminous777

Also... Anakin was never "righteous" until he redeemed himself, and even then, how is Luke supposed to know who that is? My point is we should have seen those ghosts as he(Luke) remembered them.

You know there are things that were good like different cutting for the Obi Wan Vader duel, to see Luke meeting his friends on the base etc. but why the fuck would you add dialogue in the most iconic scene of the movie? for what? It only serves as an ENORMOUS distraction and that goes for almost all of the changes and that SUCKS!

pizzamanchris14 1 month ago

HardikG121 1 month ago
Lucas is not a "poor parent." He's a rich asshole with no regard to the films' legacy to others and he can't leave well enough alone. I'm glad that Spielberg realized what damage he had done to E.T. and has pretty much disowned it, even though some of the effects were cool to have seen updated (the bicycle scenes).
kamdan2011 2 months ago
Actually, the matte lines are more apparent on the DVDs than the VHS. Of course zooming into the picture works for you, since you have a small piece of shit TV, but it looks like shit when you try to do it on a 60 inch TV. If Lucas could provide film-sourced, anamorphic versions of the films' trailers, then why couldn't have the same thing have been done with the original editions of the films? That's all I want.
kamdan2011 2 months ago
Lol, this guy's video is him bitching.......about other people bitching. The irony is probably lost on him.

The end.
Gorshkin111 3 months ago 45
@Gorshkin111 She didn't care because they were children to be bred as savages. The children Anakin killed on ROTS were children raised to defend the innocent.

AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA Vader didn't blow up Alderaan. General Tarkin gave that order. The Original Trilogy did a much better job showing Vader as a crony just following orders, being manipulated by the Empire. The Prequels start him off as an asshole kid, then an asshole Jedi, then an asshole Sith. Not once were fans shown a character that was redeemable & could return from the dark side. The prequels are a false canon. The originals were a collaboration. The Prequels was all George with no outside input.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 28
This comment has received too many negative votes show
@NatedogO33 In ANH, we are led to believe that Tarkin outranks Vader, but then in ESB Vader becomes second only to Palpatine.
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA We aren't led to believe Tarkin outranks Vader, he DOES outrank him. Leia compares Vader as a dog on Tarkin's leash. When he tries to use the force to choke a man for his lack of faith, Tarkin orders him to release the man & he does. Vader becomes second to Palpatine after Tarkin dies on the Death Star. In ANH, Obi's speech made it sound like maybe Vader battled trained Jedi to their deaths one by one. In the prequels, we learn he slaughterd them as children. I give up on this saga.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 11
@NatedogO33 A normal guy outranks a Sith Lord? That makes no sense, and it's unclear based on the film. Even if Vader didn't "give the order" he certainly didn't protest or cry fowl. Obi-Wan specifically states that Vader hunted down and killed the Jedi . . . not that they died in a one-on-one duel. Even Yoda considers him irredeemable. Watch all six movies in one sitting, and you'll be amazed by its cohesiveness, considering it was spread over 30 years. It's the greatest saga ever made.
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA Tarkin DID outrank Vader. Otherwise, he would have told him to kiss off as he choked the non-believer to death. Why else did he obey when some weak old human told him to stop? & you're right. that doesn't make sense that he out-ranks a Sith. But that's the way Lucas had it. Why else did Leia refer to Vader as a dog on Tarkins leash? He's also the one who told Vader to terminate her when she didn't reveal the Rebel base. Vader should be barking these orders if he were in charge.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 3
@NatedogO33 So you agree that the OT is essentially flawed, and that the same criticisms lobbed at the PT can apply to the OT, and then none of that shit matters anyway because the movies are exciting, imaginative works of fantasy which don't need to be perfect to be entertaining, because flawlessness does not necessarily = good movie, otherwise your favorite movie should be "A River Runs Through It" or some boring shit like that. I rest my case.
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA Just because they're flawed, but have cool things happening in them , doesn't mean I automatically have to like them. I am uncomfortable re-visiting a universe where the worst human being goes to a positive afterlife after slaughtering children & attempted to strangle his own pregnant wife. It's great you enjoy a story like that. Really. To me that's the equivalent of finding a Nazi soldier who killed women & children got to go to Heaven because he shot Hitler & loves his own son.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 2
@NatedogO33 So your issue is with the OT, where Vader's redemption takes place? The fact that you are surprised about his slaughtering children and strangling his wife is ridiculous---even being an accessory to the deaths of BILLIONS on Alderaan, including women and children, makes him irredeemable. But Yoda makes it clear in ROTS that life becomes one with the Force after death, there is no "heaven"; it is more like the law of conservation of energy. What a Force ghost is is a mystery.
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA Why not show Darth Maul, Darth Sidious & Tyranus as ghosts at the end of ROTJ? Obviously Lucas was showing the 3 Jedis in a better place, letting the audience know Vader was "saved" The story is so vague, you can add or omit anything to make the story more likable. I would have liked to have seen Anakin break down and cry after slaughtering the Jedi kids, like he did after killing the Sandpeople, showing remorse for his actions. Someone like you would say maybe he did, offscreen.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 2
@NatedogO33 Don't forget that Anakin told Obi-Wan that "the Jedi are evil to me." And Palpatine said, "if we don't get rid of the Jedi there will be endless civil war." Lucas is trying to say that evil people think they're good; Al-Queda see themselves as freedom fighters. This is more interesting to me than your typical cliched bad guy. I think we see those three ghosts in particular because those are the people that mattered to Luke; it's his vision after all, nobody else sees them.
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA You just said Jedi ghosts are a mystery. Now you have an explanation. See? Vague storylines to fill in the blanks any way one pleases. That was fine when it was just the OT, but when Lucas made the prequels, not only does the plot have gaps, so do the technical aspects. For instance, why does R2 fly in the past but not the future? Someone like you can say, maybe his jets didn't work in Luke's time. Really? He was fixed several times in the OT, no one thought to fix his jets.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 2
@NatedogO33 I have an explanation for why we see 3 ghosts; I never explained what Jedi ghosts are supposed to be. The story is solid, but the SW universe is a mystery. Not everything is explained, nor should be. A little mystery makes it more interesting and believable; we do not know every detail about Earth. R2 never flew because he never had to; he is a Swiss Army knife. In each movie, he does something different: buzz saw, lightning prod, etc., why should jets be any different?
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA Because if he had the jets, he wouldn't have fallen off Jabbas sail barge, he wouldn't have fallen in the Dagobah swamp, and most importantly, he wouldn't have been captured by the Jawas. He could have flown to Obi Wan himself. You may think of it as a cool mysrtery to ponder, but in real life, there is no mystery. The writers didn't bother to review the old movies to make sure they weren't adding stuff that compromises the original story.
NatedogO33 3 months ago 2
@NatedogO33 In the sail barge, he had a restraining bolt. In Dagobah, he tripped and was eaten. His jets work like a jetpack. He can float, but can't just up and fly like Superman. And yeah, I like mysteries; it's what makes Star Wars what it is. There is so much crazy background stuff happening, you have to wonder what it all means. What's that blue elephant playing the piano? What's a Grand Moff? Who's Mon Mothma? Face it, that's Lucas' style. Watch THX 1138 and you'll see the same thing.
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago
@AGEOFAENYA I don't mind mystery, but this is lazy writing. This is a writer saying, "oh, lets add something real cool" but not bother making sure it doesn't compromise the story. I find it interesting you mentioned the restraining bolt. Must have been a defect on it, because it didn't stop R2 from firing the light saber, or rolling off the sail barge. Maybe R2 tripped into the swamp, but nothing stopped him from flying out. & R2 DID fly. Watch AotC again, he flew across from high up
NatedogO33 3 months ago 2
@NatedogO33 Don't forget that AOTC came first, so you should ask yourself, "Why doesn't R2 use his jets on the sail barge?" Considering 30 years have gone by, and he's been blow up and rebuilt half a dozen times, who knows? Jetpacks can fly straight up, but are limited by fuel and thrust. There of similar cases in the OT, like: Why didn't Vader use the Force to stop Luke from falling? Why doesn't Yoda, if so powerful, help Luke fight Vader? I could go on. Or do you hate the OT as well?
AGEOFAENYA 3 months ago

@Gorshkin111 In II he kills animals, and in III he kills humans, difference.
reviewreviewer1 2 months ago
@Gorshkin111 Here's a retort. The Lars family all expressed feelings of hate for the tuskens. Clieg Lars said "They may look like men. But they are vicious mindless monsters." Anakin called them animals and Clieg spoke of a rescue attempt where a large posse of farmers rode out to save Shmi and only a few returned. Some with horrible injuries such as Clieg losing his leg. So Anakin was avenging his mothers kidnapping, captivity & torture for a month, and finally her death.
THXLUH1976 2 months ago
@THXLUH1976 Yeah but the killing of women and children who took no part in Shimi's death was totally unwarrented, and was completely against what the Jedi's stand for. Sorry, but killling the entire village made no sense, and it kind of just showed that Anakin turned to the Dark side right then and there. Therefore, it makes no sense when Padme is surprised that he killed children a second time.
HardikG121 2 months ago in playlist More videos from TheLuminous777
@HardikG121 They are savage tribes. While they didn't cause her death they certainly didn't try to help her. Why? Because they are all indoctrinated into the tribal thinking and beliefs. There are tribes on earth that are just as brutal and do worse things to people than tuskens would. Cannibals anyone? A kid from one of those villages would not hesitate to eat your eye or thump you around if you attempted escape, etc. Would you avenge your mothers death from viscous treatment like that?
THXLUH1976 1 month ago
@HardikG121
the difference is the jedi are the gurdiands od peace and justice. while in the tudsken raider family, the mother are the husband of barbarians who kill people, wile the young tusken raiders are raised to be barbarians
Albekizan 1 month ago
@Albekizan But if the jedi stand for "peace and justice" was it in the the best interest for Anakin to kill ALL of the Tuskens? Sorry, but that sounds like something the dark side would do. Furthermore, it is said that Jedi do not act out of revenge, and Anakin clearly went overboard here. There it does NOT make sense that Padme was surprised that Anakin would kill children AGAIN.
HardikG121 1 month ago
@HardikG121

GoblinXXX 2 months ago
@GoblinXXX Jedi are to have no attachments! Clearly stated more than once during the films! Duh....Next time pay attention to what you are watching.
THXLUH1976 2 months ago
@THXLUH1976 I see, so "no attachments" means "leave her in slavery, then get all murdery when she dies"? Oh, I understand, it all makes sense now! See, George Lucas really IS a good writer!
GoblinXXX 2 months ago
@GoblinXXX And YOU are not...Sad isn't it?
THXLUH1976 2 months ago
@THXLUH1976 How contradictory..... If "no attachments" means that he can simply leave his mother to perish, then it also means that "no attachments" makes it easier for someone to join the dark side. Sorry, but that point is impossible for you to defend. Since he left his mother, and was not attached to her, that caused him to join the dark side.
HardikG121 1 month ago
@HardikG121 What? Your post made no sense. Listen, If he had no attatchments that would mean his mother would not be apart of his life. All jedi only have other jedi as family. So your confusing post is hard to follow. I quote you "Since he left his mother, and was not attached to her, that caused him to join the dark side." What? No, no, no. BECAUSE he had attachments for her and came back to Tatooine to act on them, those actions BASED on attachment drove him to the darkside.

@Gorshkin111
SLPIFan 2 months ago
@Gorshkin111 (CONTINUATION)
SLPIFan 2 months ago
@SLPIFan nor is it a reason to say that RLM is 100% correct. he makes some pretty good points, i'll admit, but damn, some of his logic is just horrible. sometimes he just completely contradicts facts that are presented in the movie just to make it look like the plot is flawed. most of his points can be easily refuted.

the difference between sand people and the younglings the jedi serve justice and peace of the republic while the tusken raiders dont worlk for the republic and act like barbarians
Albekizan 1 month ago
@Gorshkin111 w/out bothering to put too much thought into it-- i.e; assuming you are "100% correct", i could point to as many moments in the OT that are just as hard to reconcile.
so what? i still love the OT, just like i love the PT. i just love star wars. if you don't, then go watch something else, why do people have to devote so much time to hating on something?
taffysaur 1 month ago
@Gorshkin111 i think the argument about padme being shocked at anakin for killing younglings and not as much or at all when killing sand people, was that it was the shock of killing his own kind. It was the film's point to show that most people would react the same away if nomad hated sentients that constantly attack the planet, killed your mother. He doesnt react as other jedi, cause the whole point is that he was trained to late in life to recondition himof his attachment issues..
swtcw27 1 month ago
@swtcw27 ...as well as his human emotions he learned in the first ten years of his life, while other jedi wouldnt seek revenge due to being trained from almost birth to not have any attachments thatll lead to jealousy, anger, lust for power, that even other jedi fall to sometimes. When he killed his own kind, it was less accepted and disbelieved by padme, and especially by others who didnt know about tusken slaughter. It was more shocking than avenging a moms death from oppressors
swtcw27 1 month ago
@swtcw27 ok maybe not most would act the same way if their mom was murdered but there are those that would, and the combination of hate of his life as a slave as well as the seduction of the darkside fuelling his anger and increasing his power and corruption, like a drug, helped aid in this. The problem is, this is never expained in the films...the nature of the darkside, mostly eu, and thats bad
swtcw27 1 month ago
@swtcw27 the dark side was explained in empire strikes back, we don't need it gone over *again*. =0)

MrGameandPichu 4 months ago
You're missing the point entirely. The main reason Star Wars fans are so pissed at Lucas is that he wont just leave it the fuck alone.
And you're talking about Vader regaining his humanity: We all got that the first time we saw Jedi in it's original form. The problem is that, thanks to the prequels, Anakin doesn't seem to have humanity to regain. He was never a great man who was turned by evil, he was a miserable little shit who was clearly going to be a bad guy towards the end of the trilogy.
GreatScottPilgrimage 4 months ago
