  • Hi

This is my video and plane. I lost my password etc. and so could not get back in.

I am now cheshireflyer. This video is posted again and some others too.

  • A joy to watch! Cool plane, cool engine and a sun dog at 5:48, love it.

  • Don't worry about Fleet! Dereck and Eva have passed away but their gear lives on - I use Fleet for all my submarines, and tugboats. Perfectly compatible with Futaba.

  • oops just read it nice sounding PAW.. :)

  • This is just gr8!! Love the vintage model and the diesel on it. what engine is it?

  • This was a pleasure to watch! I have a PAW .29 BBRC and a plan for a Scientific "Commodore." Found + bought silk, dope. Whatever became of that very white Nicaraguan balsa ?(I'm dating myself--of course that's what people say about building, i.e., 'he's on another date with himself in his basement.' ) I'm building a Berkeley L-19 for an E-Max 2205 now and will use tissue by way of renewing my skills. All the best & all CAVU for you!

  • How many hours of my youth were wasted trying to get PAW engines to start?! Thank god for modern electric motors. But I do miss that authentic sound. Nice model, btw. Have you used traditional tissue and dope covering?

  • I believe the Answer was a Gordon Murray design (early forties), later kitted by KeilKraft as the Scorpion.

    Fleet Radio! - Good man!

    ;-}

  • Yes, you are right. I have aplan for the scorpion but that has a traditional wing. The Answer had a "Ritz" wing which is a curved open structure plate. Very strange but high lift and low drag. I was suprsed at the speed this model made with a 1cc engine!

  • KeilKraft design? Like the "Eaglet" My first model 60 yrs ago! My friend Godfrey Knight invented the Arden unit rubber powered pod geared to prop. Eaglet kit with Arden unit required short nose for CG as your model which is similar: Elliptical. My Arden Eaglet flew so well. Amazed aero modeller cognasienti. Now too weighed by dust of passing years to fly. An old treasure now strung to my studio ceiling. Maybe, I'll build another and astound everyone:-) Anyone else out there with an Arden unit?

  • Its a shame keil-kraft ,veron etc have all gone to the wall ,even getting good grade balsa is now a bit of a chore!

Still as long as they dont stop making D1000 we should be o.k

    Rob

  • We tend to get wood at the model shows these days. My nearest model shop worth visiting is about 2o miles away. There used to be several in Stoke on Trent. Its all about PCs etc. now. The kids don't stand a chance of learning basic practical skills. I still build from plans and enjoy the old time models. I must say I enjoy building as much as flying. Yes, that was Fleet gear but again, it is retired now. Yet another company gone to the wall.

  • mmmm.wheres my balsa cement!! beautiful model

  • Hi

Glad you like the model. It is no more now. It became fuel soaked after a few years and so was retired. I would love to build another one but the company has gone now.

You sound like a modeller !

The old planes are still nice to watch in flight. You can keep your glass fibre etc.

    Pete

  • Was surfing and came across your comment. I had a house clearance recently and came across a Veron Vintage Model aeroplane kit - a 56" span Avro 504N.

Can you tell me anything about the model as I am thinking of selling it. It is in its original box and the contents have never been removed.
