Uh, actually people get more views, the old layout was buggy and sub uploads some times didn't show or were late. NOW YOU CAN SEE THE COMMENTS YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS MAKE. You can also switch it to show subs only, or -everyone-'s activity. You can also now browse sections like education and entertainment more easily. The new profiles do suck a bit, but the 'feed' thing makes it easier to follow someone's videos/likes/comments etc. I think overall is good. ALSO GET ADBLOCK NOOBS.
There is something that we can do to stand up AGAINST YouTube's new layout. YouTube forgot that YouTube are famous because of us Users so if YouTube is going to DISRESPECT us with this Garbage of a new layout we can STOP Uploading videos. If Everybody or at least 60% of people STOP Uploading videos for 1 year (367 days) or 2 years (734 days) YouTube would DIE OUT! If you are doing a series then continue your series but after that STOP Uploading videos on YouTube-YouTube would go OUT OF BUSINESS.
They still make a ton of money from people even coming to the website and watching other videos. I'd recommend complete inactivity; not only to stop uploading but don't come to the website, period, until they agree not to change.

I know about the Streaming Commercials & Banner Ads at the bottom of the videos and at the sides of the videos in which they must be click for YouTube to make money. I might check out that ZippCast website that the YouTube's user named: 130oakspiritartist said below. I still have the Uncut versions to most of my videos that is on YouTube for I may edit & put it on ZippCast.

@whiskeydence02 I have since discovered that it's possible to take it back to the old layout. When in your channel, click on 'Edit Channel' and then click on 'Change back to the old channels design'. I don't know how long that will last though.

The pages aren't so personal anymore. We can't design them. You can't watch videos on a person's page anymore. If you try that it'll take you away from the page. You can't see their friends, subscribers, ect. I think it's set up like this so YouTube can promote and advertise certain videos or "partners" and keep the focus OFF the people. It's not *YOU*tube anymore. Someone needs to come out with a website that's like the old YouTube. Once the new channels become mandatory, I'm leaving this site.

Then they had the option of switching back to the old design, and that was fine w/ me, but on Mar 1st, all the channels will be switched over to the 'upgrade'. That sucks.
to get the old youtube back It's super-easy: If you are on new style, look at the top right of your front page. It says: Edit channel. Click that. Then top left, it says: Switch back to old style. Click that and you're done. put it out to all the friends on youtube

About the ads taking up 60% of the screen, what's your screen's resolution? Mine is 2560x1440 (iMac). And when I turn my little thing called "AdBlocker" off on Safari, the ads take up barely 5% of my screen.
I know I have watched a lot fewer videos since they changed the format. I miss the music info. that used to be in the right side lower corner of the video, it was a great way to "accidentally" discover new music that you didn't hear on the radio, and see the title of the song and the artists name. I watch the home movies stuff, not the slick production vids.

I still have it for the page but just link it to other social sites for others to see. I wont use it as a chat or inbox site anymore. Had to go to the abomination facebook for all of that.

The pages aren't so personal anymore. We can't design them. You can't watch videos on a person's page anymore. If you try that it'll take you away from the page. You can't see their friends, subscribers, ect. I think it's set up like this so YouTube can promote and advertise certain videos or "partners" and keep the focus OFF the people. It's not *YOU*tube anymore. Someone needs to come out with a website that's like the old YouTube. Once the new channels become mandatory, I'm leaving this site.

Since the whole Youtube Partnership bullcrap came out, i mean they kicked AVGN of the Partners during a time and the Iritate Gamer a rip off of AVGN was a partner.
Lisa Nova used a spam to get more views, cheat in a contest and youtube still help her.

With the old layout, I used to watch my subscriptions then check the front page for more vids and such.
With the new layout, I check half of my subscriptions cause it's a pain in the ass and I don't watch more vids.
I can understand why the view count goes down.

i don't hate change....But every time they change it they make it less effective. once you could do most things with one click now you have to click to click to go to the next page to click and click then click more to get back. BUT the darkest thing is the vids against the changes have been hidden while the ones that say its ok or meh get pushed up (have yet to see a like or love VID)..U wouldnt know from lite surfing...tube is slipping away from a free speech zone....soon to be pravda tube

I'm on YT since 2006. For me, the earlier changes were not necessary (sometimes they made it worse). And right know I'm seriously thinking about deleting my account. The new layout is totally unacceptable. I do not recognize YT anymore. I'm just lost.

Youtube pulled a video of mine for copyright as soon as it was uploaded. Used to take a few days, even with the automated scan.
I posted the vid on my Daily Motion page I made years ago, and guess what? LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME! Why can't YouTube be more like that?

@KrazedKitten I agree, that's why I didn't like it, it looks so impersonal, and when I logged in and saw it for the first time, it was so confusing to navigate (and it looked generic). Then they had the option of switching back to the old design, and that was fine w/ me, but on Mar 1st, all the channels will be switched over to the 'upgrade'. That sucks.

to get the old youtube back It's super-easy: If you are on new style, look at the top right of your front page. It says: Edit channel. Click that. Then top left, it says: Switch back to old style. Click that and you're done. put it out to all the friends on youtube

And if so, how do you link it to your current channel? When you sign in to youtube, will you have to use a full gmail address or just your regular e-mail address? About the ads taking up 60% of the screen, what's your screen's resolution? Mine is 2560x1440 (iMac). And when I turn my little thing called "AdBlocker" off on Safari, the ads take up barely 5% of my screen.

I know I have watched a lot fewer videos since they changed the format. I miss the music info. that used to be in the right side lower corner of the video, it was a great way to "accidentally" discover new music that you didn't hear on the radio, and see the title of the song and the artists name. I watch the home movies stuff, not the slick production vids.
