Music is an endless loop of ripoffness, why can't people just accept it? MM is emulating Alice Cooper and David Bowie, and for Mechanical Animals especially he was emulating Glam Rock (T-Rex mainly) and he has even said that himself.

That's what music is and has been based upon, drawing from multiple artists to form your own envisionment/style. Very rarely does a leading edge artist come along.
