I have logged 3700 miles in the last 7 months, so I know what it is to ride more than 100 miles in a day, it's nuts to average 300. I salute these athletes in their quest!
the greatest documentary i have ever seen. no single thing has had a more profound impact on my life. i plan on doing RAAM eventually - it truly is the pinnacle of a mind-body challenge
If you want to ride across the states i say go for it.But what these people are missing is the whole reason to do it.To experience new places, new people etc.
Yes, and the Ironman is achievable. And still outside the realms of what many could cope with. I did it in 1986 when Wide World of Sports used to feature alcoholics, obese people, old people participating. I've done it. I couldn't even imagine riding 480km a day. I doubt most pro cyclists could do it. My husband rode Bordeaux-Paris once - in excess of 500k in 13 hours. And 300k of that was behind a durney. Then he slept for almost two days. The Race Across America is inconceivable for me.

It's all a matter of EPO, just like all bycicle sports nowadays.

These people are clearly insane... 3000 miles in 10 days. Like the other commenter I heard about this on RadioLab "Limits" which is great episode.
