  • So that's what I needed to do. Was having a snoop around the inside of my Gretsch controller earlier and couldn't figure out what I needed to fix. Time to try this so it's all ready for 2112.

  • worked like a charm thx bud and yes it works for ps3 too as i have a ps3 :)

  • @sting9902 it means it works on ps2 to right?

  • Does this work for ps3 too?

  • You rock! This fixed 2 of my Beatles guitars!

  • thank youuu...i bought a used rock band set and one of the guitars wouldn't do overdrive but this fixed it

  • Erm Where Can i Buy One Of These Guitars In The UK?

  • works great

  • it works for me..thx very very much..btw, i'm using ps3 guitar

  • Doesn't works

  • Someone help me!

Can I do this to stop the tilt? Like if I only wanted to press back. Because my sensor does it at every movement. And I cant hold my overdrive. So if I turn this around and unfix it. Will it work?

  • Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I have the exact same thing. It used to work fine, but now it goes into overdrive as soon as the energy bar is full...really sux for hard songs. Please let me know if you've found a fix -- I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

  • it worked for me. thank a bunch. who knew there's such a simple fix to such a frustrating problem

  • It works perfectly, just make sure you have the same model, most of the guitars that are like this is the ones that you buy as an add on..

  • This doesn't work. I can't believe this video has 5 stars. This is stupid. I wish I could give you negative stars.

  • thank you very much man greatly appreciated

  • Thanks I Have a the Rock Band Controller without the wireless function and my overdrive would go whenever it wanted or not at all. i had no controll but now it WORKS!!!! Thanks very much.

  • Did not work for my brand new Strat (PS3) guitar. Thanks for the tip tho, I'd try anything...

...2nd time returning defective guitar. RB2 kit guitar-DARK BROWN FRET BOARD-works great!

Overdrive goes off when this one's horizontal to the floor, and when "overdrived" tiled up, or waved around like a friggin idiot, it won't work til you already failed the song on expert/hard!!

Should I contact Harmonix and bitch my face off, or just settle for the "select" button?

  • Dude this fu**ing sucks it doesn't work @ all.

  • GREAT!! I got this extra guitar at Sam's Club for $45. Took the first one back, then found this fix (for PS3). Took less than 5 minutes, and presto! Just make sure to follow directions exactly as it says!

  • My guitar overdirve was not working at all,I tried this trick.

Switching the tilt sensor made my guitar go into overdrive when tilting down instead of up, so I switched the sensor back again and now it works normally.

I don't know when was wrong with it in the first plac,e but opening and guitar and fidling with the sensor seems to have "fixed" it.

  • just buy the rockband 2 guitar, ur able to hook up the drum pedal to it and u can activate overdrive by pushing down on the pedal

  • It didn't work for me, but I have the PS2 Rock Band guitar so I don't know if that made a difference or not. It was worth a try though.

  • Does this work for PS3??? I have wireless guitar on Rock Band, but its for PS3..Can this work??

  • tried on my ps3 guitar, turned and flipped the sensor in every possible combination but none of them ended up working. oh well. i'll stick with using select.

  • Stupidest fix ever, but it absolutely works. What do i know...

  • It didn't help me with my friends guitar. He has the Ps2 version, so that might be why.

  • god i hate that tilt sensor, it never works when you need it. gayyyyyyyy

  • Fuck it didn't work. I even tried flipping and rotating it in my hands and holding it in one place in a million ways during a song and it didn't work! What a piece of crap, but at least they let you recall it.

  • Worked great for me, thanks!

  • hey erm does anyone know if this works on the wireless wii guitar for rockband as i also have this problem

    thankyou.

  • Hey thanks for this! I did this on my PS3 RB guitar and it worked! I'm curious though when I just bought it, it goes to overdrive "almost instantly", but now there's some kind of delay. Oh what the hell. Thanks!

  • Not sure if I did it right, but it didn't work for me. Maybe I can bring it back...?

  • Worked perfect for me. Thank you.

  • someone help, i have the ps3 version and overdrive wont work, i did this but the wires are on the side and not on the top, which way do i put it help.

  • OMG IT WORKS TY SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

  • didnt work for me but thx anyways for trying to help people.

  • Followed your vid, tilt works great for me. Thanks for the fix.

  • Sadly, didn't work for me either. Tried all four positions for the board (front, back, upside-down front, back). Guess I'll have to get used to hitting the Back button with my pinky

  • it happened on my ps2

    so should i do this?

  • thx was starting to wonder if it was a defect it worke when i tilted it at rqandom so i guess its this thx

  • I did it with a wired guitar and it worked. maybe it doesn't work for wireless...

  • I followed your instructions word for word for my WIRED guitar, brand new too....but it didn't work for me either. They are just cheap components. Thanks Harmonix! lame-o's

  • Thank you! You saved me the headache of having to get a new guitar.

  • i tried that out,and now every time i get overdrive it goes off by it self

  • would this work for a wired guitar cuz im having the same problem with it?

  • sounds like a good idea for some, but sadly it didn't work for me.

  • nice vid although it didnt work for me so i just went and bought the les paul guitar for ten bucks more! :)

  • Like a lot of people I purchased a Wireless Guitar, and like a lot of people my tilt sensor isn't working either.

I tried this and it still only fires maybe once in 20 times, maybe.

I took it apart, but then I took apart my wired controller that works perfectly. Both have the tilt sensor installed the same way (with the notch down and towards the neck).

But I did notice an additional black wire on the Wireless Guitar. I don't know if this is for power or what, but just an observation.

  • i did exactly the same thing lol i was like wtf

  • Sorry, did not work for me either.

  • Good video. Sadly, did not work for me.

  • thanks

  • It worked great for me thanks.

  • It just occurred to us that this fix works for right handers, but lefties may need to both flip and rotate the sensor for best results.

  • Thank you for showing where the tilt sensor is! This fix improved the reliability of triggering overdrive on our wired controller, which uses most of the same parts.

  • thanks for the post, but can you post a video where it is working for you because this didn't fix mine at all. I am on #5 for defective rockband guitars. This is a terrible shame

  • EA has the worst problems when it comes to manufacturing the stuff to this game. I find it interesting they are still selling well. Good thing i didnt buy the wireless controller yet.

  • Didn't work for me. Overdrive still defective.

  • Thanks for posting the video, I'll give it a try. I had to RMA my original wired guitar because of the strum bar, now my brand new wireless one is broken too. EA has some SERIOUS manufacturing problems.

  • Thanks for the demo. I have the same problem but unfortunately the fix didn't work for me. Sending it back to Amazon for a replacement...

  • thanks for the info.... I just returned mine and picked up another wireless GH III guitar.. I wish EA/HMX would test these things before they package & ship 'em.

  • You can buy GH3 wireless guitars for 360???????? i never knew that...

  • It's on the ebgames website. Search for "Xbox 360 Guitar Hero 3 Controller" ( $69.99 )
