    Peace of the God

    --------------------

Heavenly father, God is with us..

Heavenly father, God is with me

    Believe that every day has

dawned for you as the last.

    Believe that every day has

dawned for you as the last.)

  • Chanting and prayer repetition is just as much as a part of Christianity as is the Old ways...how can anyone say that this song is evil..that would surely be ignorance speaking to say so...I am of the Old ways!!!

  • Well, "Kids" there was goddess worship amongst the Druids when Christianity arrived in Ireland. I do love JC and everything, and certainly rate forgiveness as being superior to human sacrifice by hucking people into the bog, but there is something to be said for Ceridwen, goddess of the Moon. Druids still exist but are few in number.

  • I love it, but even knowing the translation of the lyrics does not alleviate the darkness I feel in this song. I think it's the title because for me it connects to the term Pax Romana, and how that peace was achieved. But truly, I like it better for that. Also, that it's "gods" instead of "god" makes me grin.

  • People calling this song evil, haha... I love the dark dramatic seriousness of this song, I like the evilness..

  • Frankly, I've always loved this song. XD I guess I liked the dark, dramatic tone of it. Although it did make me kind of think of some creepy cult ritual. Which the lyrics say it's not, so that's good, but yeah. I remember my family saying it sounded occult.

  • This somehow reminds me of Pandora Hearts :)

  • oh! now I know what she's saying I'm not that scared. I thought she was like calling a demon's name or something.

  • For those interested, the "Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum" part at 02:37 is quoted from a book from Horace called Epistles which was published between 20 BC and 14 BC.

    The full quote is:

Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum. Grata superveniet, quae non sperabitur hora.

Think to yourself that every day is your last; the hour to which you do not look forward will come as a welcome surprise. Book I, epistle iv, line 13

  • What language is this in?

  • @littleart5 Latin and Irish

  • this pagan song is so cool

  • @CrazyNative4 It's not pagan. The words translate to:

Father in Heaven, God bless us..

Father in Heaven, God bless me

Believe that each day which breaks is your last.

Believe that each day which breaks is your last

  • I always thought Enya sucked. But now after listening to this one song, I have been converted.

  • @yourpsychedelic Enya cares about this post and so do we. Thanks for letting us know. Report in frequently as your opinion matters A LOT. Things will be planned, altered and created because of you.

  • Can you imagine what would happen if Enya paired up with Vangelis for just one song or for an album ? This song to me is the feminine counterpart of Vangelis's masculine and dominant song "The Conquest opf Paradise". I wish Enya and Vangelis paired up and united together with their muscial talents to produce a musical offspring ( album ) I was merely pondering about what could she possible produce still that would be even more out of this world than how excellent and unique she already is.

  • @TheBlissfulSpirit Me thinks the same. :)

  • @TheBlissfulSpirit Wasn't there something they'd done together? I'm not my dream sure, but I think I remember these two names together - or maybe it was just my dream ;)

  • cresci ouvindo ela muitooo perfeito

  • Thats a cool picture based on The King of Black Isles by Maxfield Parish

  • @JulietteStarfly @TheThirdlayer Well, to be more accurate, Enya did the credits song for "The Fellowship of the Ring", "May It Be", and has a bit in the song "The Council of Elrond". The music was actually done by Howard Shore. Also, fun fact, one of her songs on the album "Shepherd Moons" is called "Lothlorien" which is the fairest forest realm of the elves in "The Lord of the Rings". ...Oops, I think my nerd is showing...

  • It's a piece of art. I imagine a crew of warriors in a boat rowing to the drum and horn readying themselves for the afterlife.

  • @Aaerius i agree

  • this is extremely beautiful, and I love the low atmospheric track it has.

  • I was afraid of this song when I was a child my mother had this album me and my big sister loved it...but I was afraid of this I still feel the fear throught my body

  • I only know that pax means peace. I just love the tune.

  • @JuliettaStarfly pax deorum in Latin means "the peace of Gods"

  • Am I the only one who is reminded of Lord of the Rings?

  • @TheThirdlayer Nope. Actually, Enya did alot of the Lord of the Rings music.

  • @JuliettaStarfly Cool! I didn't know that

  • Comment removed

  • She is probably saying that in another thousand years our current religions will be as dead as the ancient religions.

  • I Love Enya

  • It sounds like a Horror Flick soundtrack! Or a LOTR, Zombie resurrection soundtrack! I do not speak nor understand Latin but, what was Enya saying!?

  • @joel750 ..domineoveniteosacramentum(discesm)eodeo domineoveniteosacramentum(discesm)eodeo domineoveniteosacramentum(discesm)eodeo.. athairarneamhdialinn..athairarneamhdialiom Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum. • @shakariperformance

Thank You for the much "Needed" info! Now i know that it's something positive and Enya is telling a story about Peace of the Gods. :)

  • This song just relaxes me so much.I can sit in the woods and just close my eyes to this song and just dream. :)

  • indescribable

  • This song is just gorgeous! I love it!

  • @bobwinkerbean Why was this marked as spam???

  • @Keeebs30 I havent the slightest

  • incommensurabile pace e dolcissimo oblio dalle parole inquietanti di enya

  • This song makes me think of Vikings. I have an awesome idea for a photo video if I can just get a digital camera and a trip to Scotland or Ireland lol.

  • i can sing tempust vernum by heart and this song also. yea enya songs are heard and i love to sing to them.

  • so medieval-ish...me likey~~

  • excellent song. the mood is good for my soul which craves dark and light equally. i am almost satiated... ummm....

  • I lost myself when I heard this music......

I feel like floating in the air........

  • This is my favorite song of all time. This song is a conversation with Gaia and the ancients (the Sequoias) . This song is a soundtrack of all my incarnations.

  • Does it really matter if this song has any Pagan connections? Stop the arguing and listen to the music. If it helps drop the argument, Enya was raised Catholic (and is possibly still Catholic) and made this song. So if she could care less about any pagan undertones in the song... WHY SHOULD ANY OF YOU!?

  • Google "In memory of trees" and "Celtic legends" you'll see that it is used in the context of druids and is thoroughly pagan

  • Look. If you want to argue religion, GET OFF OF HERE! I hate it when IDIOTS like you do this. Yes, I am talking to the both of you, Egghead and SJGster. This is just a song Enya sang, and a good one at that. Comment about the SONG!!! If you want to talk religion (and frankly, not use proper grammar), I - and I hopefully speak for everyone that is like-minded - would appreciate it if you'd go find yourselves blogs or something like that were nobody cares. Thanks.

  • @scorpio17910 if you don't like it, just don't read it....like someone has a gun to your head. i'm with you, i don't care for it ....but who are you to limit somone's freedom of speech? i just ignore it....

  • She is absolutley brilliant,i think she is the most talented and best female artists on the planet.I have been a fan of hers since the late eighties. The videos and the music for films like Lord of the Rings are amazing. What more can i say!!

  • how about a comment on the song????? guess ill start it. Enya your awesome, your music all ways relaxes me

  • Fall from Heaven brought me here! Great song!

  • @hfrdrck3 Ashen Veil!

  • In memory of my friend. 2006 car accident. Innocent victim. RIP

  • .......Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum...... <3

  • Domine o venite o sacramentum eo deo...

Athair ar neamh dia linn, athair ar neamh dia liom...

Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum...

  • All this talk of religion is pointless, because it's up to the individual to make their own mind up, and nobody should try and change that opinion. Look at me - I experienced Christianity in a warped and distorted version because of my father, who was, i admit, hypocritical about his religion, and now I'm not sure whether I believe or not.As it happens, I am more than happy to believe that even if there's a God or a higher power, we humans control our own destinies

  • @supastar668 THANK YOU!! Finally somebody who thinks the same way i do! :)

  • @AwesomeOliver100 It's just common sense, really. Anyone has the power to distort religion, because - whatever the Bible says about us being "made in God's image" - we ARE fallible. You don't need to think too hard to find prime examples of people with faults, and just because christianity is the dominant religion in the world doesn't mean its the ONLY religion that gives salvation. I just like to keep an open mind about it all

  • @supastar668 I never said that Christianity is the only religion that gives salvation. I never said we aren't fallible. What i said was if you want to argue about it, here isn't the place. When i look at the comments, i want to see comments about Enya, not what people think about other people's God/gods. I respect other religions, and have fun learning about them. People just need to learn to accept differences, and not get riled up when someone has a different opinion.

  • @AwesomeOliver100 And i'm not saying any of that about Christianity either. I just wanted to say that it's stupid to get riled and fired up over religious things when after all - and this isn't meant to demean Enya in ANY way - it's just a song, and a damn good one at that

  • Her "r" should be rolled, or at least flipped ... Latin should not sound like English. :|

  • You all need religion. Salvation is through Christ only. Beware of false prophets. To all the people who do not believe in God or in Christ, I pity you. You deny historical facts and prophecies. That is very unintelligent. God always wills for you lost sheeps to come back to him.

  • Agares is rising.

  • I adore this song one of my favourite Enya songs

  • i adore enya. her music has helped me in so many ways. worship who you may but please respect that everyone has their own beliefs and opinions. be safe in your own but do not put down others. every belief is valid even if it is only for one person. be well stay safe.

  • Religion has been corrupt since christ's death, all religion does is benefit man more than it benefits others. Jeez roman general's back in the day were promoted to clergy, what does that say for the bible?

  • arguing about if GOD is real does no good . i believe in LORD JESUS HE died for me and rose from the dead. HE is DIVINE. IT has cost me nothing. it has given me hope. HE has never let me down. i fail HIM every day. on CHRIST BLOOD I STAND ALL OTHER GROUND IS SINKING SAND. Search HIM out while you can you owe HIM a hearing. we all die there is no escaping it. live and die with hope. LORD JESUS is real. HE PAID FOR IT ALL . have a nice day

  • You're all missing the point that this is Enya's best song.

  • christ sake can't youtube people leave religion and what people think in the real world out of this and just enjoy the music for once. think about it, what the hell are you talking about on the bloody internet lol

  • Psychological projection or projection bias is a psychological defense mechanism where a person unconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, such as to other people. Thus, projection involves imagining or projecting the belief that others have those feelings.

  • The first time i heard this back in 1995-it gave Me chills. Still does. Love 2 play this at night with candles lit lol!!! I always see an ocean in turmoil-a storm and then at 2:39 sunlight breaksthru the clouds. Awesome.

  • It's beautiful :D

  • Unus est Deus. There is only one God-- the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

  • @simoncpu Each to his own dude. Everyone walks their own path. It doesn't matter what path you decide to follow, so long as you show respect to everyone and everything.

  • It's a beautiful song, and very unlike her usual style. It doesn't sound dark to me- just passionate and serious.

  • 25 bieber-fans? never mind! *lol* Me like!

  • This isn't about religion. This is about peace.

  • I'm obsessed with this song. The first time I heard it...I put it on repeat for two straight weeks.

  • @NikkTemplar You're not alone. I don't want to confess how many times I've heard 'marble halls'

  • @NikkTemplar I know what you mean, this song brings back memories. I'm 28 now, but back when I was about 15 my girlfriend at the time gave me this tape. I couldn't get it out my head, I even used to fall asleep with the headphones still on listening to it.

  • @NikkTemplar I did too! There was something about the song that I was just drawn to.

  • One of my favourite enya tracks, I love how eerie and dark it starts and then becomes more enchanting and beautiful halfway through, feels like I escape out of a castle surrounded by black clouds and twisted plants then flying away past huge mountains with sunset beneath the cliffs. Of course, the song returns to the creepy theme. Sorry for babbling but it was I see in my imagination.

  • @anthony111isevilok no its not babbling its a song to stir the imagination . im a spiritual christian and see this song in context of the development of world events which are intesifying each year . Jesus said i will draw them out and they will fight in the battle of armageddon. but he went on to say fear not when u see this all come to pass , lift ur head up high and know ur deleverance is near . its all in gods hands this dramatic music expresses to me .

  • This, is for me, a thing of great beauty, it sounds as if people cast out their souls into the night, and each solum word is a shield of light that encompasses them. This song, is for me, pure omnipotents. Incredible!

  • te amo Enya... esta cancion es genial me encanta...

  • And some don't see god and jesus at all...

  • Ok, can we stop the Religion wars here please? You all came here to listen to Enya, right? They why don't you listen instead of insulting each other based on beliefs. Everyone has their own opinion and thoughts on life, so accept them. Don't come on here intending to tell atheists 'go burn in Hell' or Christians that 'God isnt F*&% real!' If you can't handle the fact that everyone's different than you're not mature enough. Religion is based on choice. Respect everyone else's as much as your own.

  • @AwesomeOliver100 I second that!!! Good one!!

  • @AwesomeOliver100 Admirable intervention to madness. Kudos AwesomeOliver. You're awesome alright=)

  • @AwesomeOliver100 I agree with you for the most part, but your intervention is hypocritical. As you say, everyone has her/his own opinion and thoughts on life. You need to accept that it's human nature to disagree.

  • @cvg1099 you are both correct in your analysis however life is a gift but it is how we all choose to live it that decides our fate both in life and death

  • @AwesomeOliver100 wise and true words my friend:).

  • @AwesomeOliver100 THANK YOU

  • Real religion means no animal killing for food!!!

    gosala dt cm

  • @govindas999

For every animal U dont eat, I will eat three.

  • I love this song! it's beautifully done and I LOVE the latin!

  • I find this song scary, not in an evil sadistic way. (I believe in God, I don't care if that means I'm Christian or whatever. I don't put myself in a group. So don't pounce. ;) ) But no, I find this scary in a good, haunting kind of way. The kind of scary you purposely seek out to get those chills. I enjoy ANYTHING Enya does.

  • aahhh lovely. sssooo nice

  • @Iluvthosetightp i looked it up..domineoveniteosacramentum(discesm)eodeo domineoveniteosacramentum(discesm)eodeo domineoveniteosacramentum(discesm)eodeo.. athairarneamhdialinn..athairarneamhdialiom Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum. Omnem crede diem tibi diluxisse supremum. Translation Father in Heaven, God bless us.. Father in Heaven, God bless me Believe that each day which breaks is your last. Believe that each day which breaks is your last.

  • @FIREYICEangel so indeed this song is very much referring to the latin language and the days of the Dark Ages. ''believe that each day which breaks is your last , in latin is ''memento mori'' : remember that you will die.

This in those Dark Ages was a saying used by every Christian, to remember themselves to live without any luxuries for that would not be good for them when they die. God wishes us to live a humble life. This view changed in the Renaissance into : carpe diem! Seize the day!

  • Evil or not, I like this song , it's beautiful.

  • @jamiejoygatto you should really be ashamed for calling God that, okay maybe you disagree with the Catholic faith but I mean you dont see me calling Hindu Gods that when I disagree with their faith! never

  • @AquiloniusPrimus what kind of sick fuck would put their own "child" through that sort of test. not a "loving father." despicable story.

  • u know what ima do later on?? ima get a bottle of irish mist and dance to this song!!!! so it puts u in the mood to do so, so thats what ima do!!!

  • This song is sooo.... ominous and lovely all at once!

  • It translates as:

Father in Heaven, God bless us..

Father in Heaven, God bless me

Believe that each day which breaks is your last.

Believe that each day which breaks is your last.

I know this may be controversial with a title that translates as Peace of the Gods, but I do not believe Enya herself is Pagan or promoting this religion, although she celebrates her Celtic cultural heritage. And I find this song to be beautiful and empowering, fully in harmony with the Christian religion.

  • @starman1024 That's Athair Ar Neamh. It's not a religious song in the modern sense. It is speaking of the ancient roman tradition of Pax Deorum, meaning "Peace of the Gods." It was something that many Romans tried to achieve in their life. Enya is Catholic, but she speaks Latin. This is simply an artistic expression of Roman culture.

  • @Seandc100 Yes thank you for clarifying about the purpose the cultural origin of Pax Deorum. Yes, it definitely sounds Roman to me. However, you should note that Pax Deorum and Athair Ar Neamh both share a couple lines of the same lyrics, and the translation I listed actually is for Pax Deorum. Different lyric sites may list the words a bit differently, but with essentially the same meaning.

  • о чем вы говорите слушая это и душа сама принимает эту музыку

  • @69kern what you say listening to it and the soul itself takes this music

  • Forever love Irland

  • I can picture gladiators getting warmed up for a fight whenever I hear this

  • Who the hell gave this a thumbs down? They oughta be strung up.

  • It's funny reading all the back and forth comments about this song sounding evil because the first time I listened to it, I was falling asleep with my itunes on shuffle and this song came on and scared the shit out of me! It sounded so "evil"! Probably because I was half asleep... And I don't believe in spirits and what not so I was like what the heck!??!

It's now one of my favourite Enya songs though, and I absolutely LOVE how it sounds and don't think there's anything "evil" about it.

  • @myuzeefreak LOL thats pretty funny.. Im sure it was a drastic change from the rest of your itunes collection. :) I find it to be a beautiful song though.

  • I love how from 3:30 -ish to 4:00 -ish she mixed in the tune from her song 'Deora Ar Mo Chroi' <3

  • If you concentrate on the music

irs like taking part in a pagan nocturnal moon ritual

This music realy touches the soul

  • I love Enya! she is the Goddess of the art of Celtic Music! she brings soul to music! <3 like this if you agree!! <3

  • 2:30-3:30 may be some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!

  • I agree with MugetsuOfExitium only I consider myself to be a Christian in truth, although for a Christian I do an awful lot of pagan rites and have said goddess or even Goddess a lot.

  • @braincloth Definitely agreeing with ya 100%. There are good christians out there who really are the real deal, and are not judgmental fanatical freaks who try to cram it down your throat, but unfortunately there is less and less of those every day. I am proud to be pagan, and know I walk the path right for me. How many can honestly say they are happy with the path they walk?

  • @MugetsuOfExitium would you rather cram it down his throat or let youre brother go to hell,PS your friends will cram it down your throat, youre enemy doesn' t have the balls to tell you the truth. sorry to be brutally honest, but that's just jesus in me.

  • @angel1962ism please stop trying to convert people. in case you forgot, millions have died because christianity couldn't stop throwing a jealous hissy fit.

  • @angel1962ism Dude stop these dumb religious flare ups! Everyone sees God and Jesus in their own way.

So stop trying to convert people and quit being a religious bigot!

  • ONE OF MY FAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Have you ever thought about the term "Pontifex Maximus"? The same term to designe the Roman Emperor and ...the Pope. Is this enough to understand? :-)

  • eeeek so pretty but scary at the same time!!!!!!

  • @MiriamSPia I'd just like to note, that alot of the people who are anti-christian have seen the ugly side of the religion, and have seen the disgusting effects generations of brainwashing does to people, or those who were born as christian, and had a wake-up call and realized that alot of the things in the bible are foul and degrading and wrong.

  • @MugetsuOfExitium no offence to christians or anything, but if you go in a church they all sound so brainwashed, its like a huge cult where they use psychology to make you belive things that you wouldnt otherwise. it takes someone with an open mind to get past that, i did and i'm happy im finally seeing sense. no offence to christians but if you think about it, quite a lot of whats in the bible makes no sense whatsoever...

  • @braincloth i am christain & i sadly agree with you....my momma & i both agree the bible was written by lonely old men who just wanted control of a country...& if you ask me(heres da worst part)a 12yr old!god-or whatever you choose to believe in put us on this earth-not to kill in his name-but to love in his name...see thats why we dont go to church! its too controlled!like you can control the love that comes outa u!instead we chose to aprieciate and care for what god put on this earth!

  • @TH3S3L3NA couldnt have put it better myself, what you believe should be down to the individual

  • @MugetsuOfExitium Judging God tends to have consequences.

  • @john91722 You see, it's fanatical Christians like yourself that cause all the hate & dislike towards the Christian faith. Accept & understand the fact everyone is different, and your life will be for the better. Fail to see this, and you end up with a point of view in life similar to the nazi's. Where nothing is perfect unless it's what you decide it is. That is wrong on so many levels, and even you know it. Show compassion, show respect.

  • @MugetsuOfExitium im anti cristian i consider my-self non-religious

  • @MugetsuOfExitium I AGREE! who needs religious! just find your own inner peace, love yourself, know who you are, and move on from there.

  • @MugetsuOfExitium Nothing in the Bible is foul. There are no ugly sides to Christianity. It is us, human beings that are foul. It is us that give malice to the Holy Bible. I tell you that everything is in the Bible and not all Christians are authentic Christians. Salvation is only through Christ.

  • @Egghead123123123 As is God's murder of the Egyptian first-borns.

  • @SJGster God did not murder the Egyptian first-borns, he punished the Egyptians to deterr them from further evil. They would get closer to hell if they continue the evils they do. As our heavenly father, it was not easy for him to punish the Egyptians. He did what is enough and necessary. God never murders, he simply takes what he gives whenever we act like spoiled little brats. This is further proven by science. In psychology, this method is called operant conditioning. Look it up.

  • @Egghead123123123 Punished them by killing the first-borns? Not only is that a brutal and immoral punishment, the kids are dead for someone else's crimes. The kids are not the Pharaoh who forced the Jews to stay in Egypt, they're not the ones who ordered the Jewish newborns to be slaughtered, and if they worshipped false gods , it was only because of what the parents taught them. When you're punishing a murderer, do you kill the murderer's kid? And operant conditioning is ineffective on the dead

  • @SJGster How is that cruel? The kids returned to the father. They were not the ones being punished, their fathers are. God gave the Egyptians their firstborns, he simply took the firstborns away from their fathers. This was a result of their cruelty to the Israelites and their pharaoh's stubbornness. This final plague also proves God's superiority to a Pharaoh who thinks of himself as a god.

Do you think God sending his firstborn (Jesus) to die for us is immoral? This is an act of love.

  • @Egghead123123123 So is it ok for us as a society to punish murderers by giving painless lethal injections to their kids?

And if God is all-powerful, there should be no need for God to send Jesus down to die for us. So it was a needless and cruel thing to do, especially since Jesus's reputed death was far from painless.

  • @SJGster Vegeance belongs only to the Lord. did u not read the bible? Jesus told the fundamentalists that "he who is without sin cast the first stone." And before his crucifixion, Christ knew what awaits him. He experienced pain so that we wont have to in hell. God may be omnipotent but he also gave us freedom. Your logic does not make sense as it closes its eyes on the truth. The truth that God loves us.

My advice to you is that you READ the Bible. You seem to misunderstand it alot.

  • @MugetsuOfExitium Not everything in the Bible is meant to be some good teaching. In case you didn't notice, it is also a record of history. History tells what happened, whether what a person did was right or wrong. Yes, even many people who followed God did horrible, evil things, and suffered for it. Did God command them to do so? Of course not. He cannot command people to do what is "wrong," for He Himself is what is good. Was He happy about what evil His people did? Never. It broke His heart.

  • 21 dislikes...hmm guess some people dont know good music when they hear it. Or their ears are still deaf from all the bass booming in the world now

  • It's amazing to me how New Age fans constantly give short shrift to the music they profess to love. The likes of Vangelis, David Arkenstone, Cusco and, yes, Enya have long ago taken New Age beyond the realm of mere relaxation; of wind chimes and whale song, and put cinematic meat on the bone. Tangerine Dream has been doing it from the beginning. Steve Roach constantly surprises and delights. New Age has been refered to as "thumbsucking music". Why do its fans insist on sucking their thumbs?

  • @JWRandall423 Almost all of my favourites were mentioned here. :)

  • @zimnomel I aim to please. ;-)

  • No offense, but its OK if it actually IS Christian. I think most people who are anti-Christian haven't read about him at all, so they think the warfare in the Middle Ages is what it was all about or something. Anyways, this is coming from a woman who loves this song and has known and done both Christian and pagan things and has also usually known at least some atheists.

  • surely this could be an anthem for the end times.

  • Lol talk about scary gods

  • powerful song and peaceful too. i like your thoughts. it is my firm to belief that this song inspires you all. Great :)

  • Pax Deorum = Gods' benediction

  • @dami9989 one flaw "father son and holy ghost(Spirit)" in Latin is "Patri, Filli, et Spiritus Sancti."

  • song of the Apocalipsis

  • @girltube5318008 I have concluded that "the end of the world" really means, "significant political and religious changes, possibly even significant environmental changes coming up within the upcoming 50 years".
