stupid questions: is the pick supposed to make things easier? would it be worth it to learn?

i just can't seem to be able to hold one properly, i feel like it hinders me.

@silencilliste I would say it is worth it to learn. Jeff Beck might disagree. I am a huge fan of using fingers, but there is a certain edge to the sound that one can only get by using a pick. Strumming and flat-picking are more articulate. Whether or not you have the patience or some quality music instruction is another question...

@silencilliste you can play it however you want but the Thorn plays it with a pick. Like you, I used to hate the pick but after I learned how to use it, I hate to play without it. I had luck learning with a very light, flimsy pick. The thicker ones still give me trouble.

you left out the two hits on the G 8th after hittin tha bass note A 5th and E 6th. its in the same rhytm as the B 8th and G 8th before. i think its really missing. however, im a big big fan!!

Hi Warren, big fan of your work here and your tutorials which are pro standard. One question I got for you is to do with singing, which I've been working to learn and improve now for a while. I've got a voice register that I find very similar to yours and I've been wanting to sing this piece but I've had some difficulties hitting the higher notes. When you get to those higher notes for example in the verses, do you use falsetto? Or do you squeeze them out? If so any tip is appreciated.

@klinji Thanks man, this wasn't my best vocal performance by any means, but yes the higher parts are head voice. I am of the opinion that falsetto is yet another, even higher register than head voice. I try to focus my vocal training on mixing my head/chest voice. One example of an attempt of this is what I do with my Staircase or Supercollider covers.

@warrenmusic Thanks to you. I'll check those out then! As I'm fresh on this I thought head voice was analogue to falsetto. I didn't even conceive a difference between the two, so that's a pretty interesting twist.

@Oxydox The D makes it sort of a Cmadd2 chord, and is actually open in every version I've heard, not really muted like the 5th. I wouldn't worry about muting the 4th string.

Newb question warren. I never thought I had small hands, but my fat thumb is having difficulty wrapping around to sixth string, could it be the guitar neck be too large? Do they make various neck sizes?

Using the index finger is probably a better strength builder anyway. This entire first video is killer on the hands and tender finger tips; which is good. Thanks

@NiceyNiceGuyMike Guitar necks are made in all different sizes and shapes. Some are more "V" like, some more "C" shaped, some wider and some narrower, some thinner and some thicker. Try getting used to the thumb, it might be something you'll be able to do in time. I initially had lots of trouble, but now my left thumb is longer than my right! I forced it over the years hahahaha.

This might be one of the first Radiohead songs I learned in its entirety... Other than the chords during the breaks between the "Admission makes you look pretty ugly" verses and the versions of the chords during "Rain down," I've learned it almost identical.
