I have to say, of the two '90s Beatles tracks, I very much prefer Real Love. Being more upbeat is probably all it is, but that does capture the (usually) positive spirit of The Beatles a bit more. I can understand that recording it was not as fun - they had done this the year before already and they weren't writting/adding parts as much as with "Free as a Bird." But, "Bird" is kind of a dirge, comparatively.
1:52 I just have to say, Bravo, Beatles, for the integrity that was shown in deciding that without John it would've been a no-go. "To have John is the obvious thing" -- to you guys, thankfully, but you'd be surprised! *Cough*Beachboys*Cough*
This segment makes me cry like a baby. Just seeing how much they still love each other. And the fact that if John was still alive he'd be right there with them.
I know Tara Brown crashed his Lotus Elan inspiring "A day in the life", but I didn't know it was an Elan plus 2 as shown here. I imagine the fabs would have known because they knew him. Probably passed the info on to the video director. At least I hope that's the story. Anyone know if it was an Elan or an Elan plus 2?
I love Jeff Lynn's enthusiam. He is absolutely right, being with and recording The Beatles must have been a dream come true. I can imagine John being there driving the project forward. Probably still long-haired, albeit a little greyer and a little wiser, bespectacled and dreaming of a better world for everyone.
It makes one wonder........Oh... what could have been.
Is it wrong to have Real Love as my ultimate favourite Beatles song?? Considering it's a Lennon song?? But I guess it ok since Yesterday was a McCartney song and it's considered as a Beatles song. Any comments?
Apparantly lennons vocals are sped up on this version, like on help, you can hear his voice become more like the old john if you can slow it down /help was prosessed in the same way to make it a hit
I think in many ways Roger Waters was more apt because of the album 'The Final Cut', which was primarily Waters though it was released as being by Pink Floyd.
awesome... to be able to listen to it specially w/ george in it... these guys were way ahead of their time and their music will go on forever and hopefully jeff lynne and dhany harrison will do something w/ their songs one day... hey jeff, please.
@barrildeesperanca Dhani and Jeff finished all of George's unfinished work for Brainwashed album and Dhani helped get the Beatles, Apple and the videogame company to work together to make the Beatles Rockband Game; somehting none of the Beatles would've ever thought of doing as they grew up in a different era where videogames didnt exist
jeff lynne, one of the great producers in the music business in addition to being a great musician

What I love is the absolute certainty from George : "as nice as we can surely make it." Yeah, they worked well together, didn't they?

Good to see the boys back together in this section. There is some kind of special magic between them.

jeff lynne is probably the closest producer to have work on these beatles tunes next to george martin..he's an brilliant musician and producer..

i find "free as a bird" very weak, but real love is one of lennons lovliest songs to me,
though a typical solo lennon tune, not beatles phase

Why the hell does George say Roger Waters? It seems random. Maybe he meant David Gilmour which makes more sense.

Yeah, but he's talking about a replacement, which David Gilmour was.
