  • i now know how to get those rolls with the index finger. great technique and perfectly played.

  • Very sparkly rendition. I must teach myself to use finger-picks. 5*'s

  • they're definately good for Fahey stuff. You need to shop around though because there are a few distinct types

  • i can play this and im 14

    i use a yamaha fg100 great guitar!!!!

  • You are right. He swapped titles around as it suited him. The DVD I mentioned is The Guitar of John Fahey, vol. I... from Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop. Maybe you already know of it. I think he was at his best in the early '80's, when he did the Tasmania concert, and also about when he did the concert with the pieces that this walterneff has posted. At about this time he really hit the skids health-wise.

How do you like the Taylor?

  • I've got a tab book somewhere, but I know the DVD you mention. His performances in those clips you mention that walterneff has are great. The Taylor was my Dad's and he's sold it now. I liked it, had a very Bluegrassey feel to it, but I mainly play a Martin 00-15 now. Have you read any of his books?

  • Spanish Two Step is another song entirely, and is on the Fahey instructional video available thru the Grossman catalog. This one, Hawaiian 2 step, was called the Tasmanian 2 step on the live album Fahey did there in the early '80's. Still good playing.

  • i have a few albums in which this is titled spanish two step, anyway it's a great song whatever it is called. That live album from Tasmania is fantastic!

  • You're fantastic! I want to learn this one too! what tuning is it in?

  • Wonderful playing, not a note out of place as far as I can hear. I'm sure Fahey would be happy to know that he inspired such technically proficient playing.

  • Thanks a lot for your kind comment

  • Great playin' man! Superb tune. Fahey was so great. I'm a big fan of his protoge, Leo Kottke. Check out his CD "Instrumentals".

  • Really nicely done! May have to learn that one. thanks for subscribing to my channel.
