@BlastedRoof i pratice with my chucks every day and the point of nunchucks are to used as a weapon....thats why u hold them from the bottom....because holding on the top lowers by an incredible amount the amount of power when you hit and if you have enough experiance with nunchucks holding them from the bottom shouldnt affect your control too much

@tirant54 if he has a good grip on the bottom he is not more likely to drop them and trust me you cannot get half the power into your strikes if you hold them from the top and holding them from the bottom doesnt decrease control......

I doubt you have ever used nun-chucks, im still a noob but right now you basically saying everything opposite to what Master Lee Barden said.

Hold on the bottom and you loose control for certain tricks and its then a weapon.

Hold on top and you have more control and it becomes an instrument.

your supose to holdem in the middle he has it pretty much in the middle. you hold it on the bottom your going to drop it trust me i use nunchucks too

Just poke around! It shouldnt be too hard to find a specialist online store to buy from. For speed, you will want a short chain, rather than a long one, if available. If your just using them for a punch bag, Id say stick with the foam ball baring ones - they are cheap and readily available on ebay, and they dont damage you if you make a mistake!! Although...if you want some tasty wooden ones for your collection, like I say, specialist martial arts websites are the way to go.

roycehellion you are retarded nunchux are mostly used for show now. oh and unless your opponent is dumb as hell or just tied up, you won't be able to kill them with ninchuku. there were advances in Chinese weapons such as sai, bo staff, or even chains. all of those would kill your ass even b4 you got a hit on anyone. oh and gmfk12lk martial arts was used for killing and still is. it's done for art now but is still deadly!!!!!!!

my point is that nunchuks are a simple secondary weapon that i've faced before and it's not that hard to beat them. they use momentum, and as long as you interrupt that then you have to start it up again, regardless of whether it takes 2 seconds or two minutes, there is still that small chance to attack. so i HIGHLY doubt that you'd be able to kill someone who isn't a complete retard with ninchucku, i've used them b4 and i hate them, so i know what i'm saying.

Hm. In my experience, a only a bad worksman blames his tools. Its not so much the weapon that matters - the 'deadliness' of something is really only defined the man using it.

II recently took up practicing with nunchuks (padded chain) and it's fun. However, I found out that nunchucks are like a cheerleader accessory, just for show.

Then I found out about Bruce Lee, and wow! (yeah I know, I'm a little late on that)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but should I buy chucks like the ones this dude has (speed chucks/prochux)? I want to train for combat, not so I can show off to a group of judges and the only way I can win is if I suck all their dicks (yes, one is a woman).

To be honest, all Ive ever used are the ones with ball barings - is that what you mean by speed chucks? If you are training for combat I would seriously reccomend the padded chucks, because if you use the wooden ones, the combat probably wont last very long. (KO) Wooden ones with a long chain deliver the most powerful blows, whereas shorter chain models will have a faster recovery time. If you are talking about combat in terms of self-defense, you might want to consider telescopic chucks.

But I'm not looking for powerful blows, I want speed (I saw someone fling a nunchuk at 300 km/hour (nah I'm kidding).

Where would I find a pair of wooden nunchucks with ball-bearings? All I can find here are padded ones.

Let's be realistic here, most likely I'm never going to fight anyone with them. I'd like it just to practice with a punching bag and cause I think nunchucks are badass when they're not used in a "So You Think You Can Nunchuck" competition.

speed chux are dumb, rolling and throwing your chux is dumb. im trained to kill people with nunchuck. are you trying to use a killer performance. seriously this is silly for a martial artist to do, drop the martial arts learn poi.
