I think its pretty likely that Tacitus wrote Galgacus' speech as a critism against Rome, I think its pretty unlikely that Galgacus realy existed, he would have said anything like what he is recorded as saying.

@tacotony24 Absolute rubbish, The Romans intention was to conquer as much land as possible, the Romans tried and tried for nearly 500 years to conquer Scotland (Caledonia) and failed, they gave up after a while and were back out down south once again, where they built Hadrians wall as the border of the Roman empire.

Most Scots today descend from Picts, the genetic haplotype is proved, 'OGAP4' was found all over Scotland, even in the Lowlands, Strathclyde.

Scotland has never been truly conquered.
