GTA IV went so incredibly downhill. In every new game, they added more things to do and more cities and places. In SA you had three major cities, rural areas and woods and deserted places. It was soooo good and fun to just drive and explore. In GTA IV, they removed planes, they removed rural areas, they removed the soul of GTA.

Never thought Rockstar would do the same same "graphics only- mistake" all of the new games have. Looking fancy but no soul.

@DieBittereWahrheit first off you have 3 islands, how are you supposed to go to rural areas? 2nd gta sa had badder graphics allowing them to add so much customization and not to override the engine, gta has good graphics if they added all the customization like in sa it, it would either crash all the time or not be able to pass production stages. Wait for newer engines that would be able to handle that much data and graphics.

like kingofdeath said, GTA 4 was a test for the new RAGE-Engine. It was a great game though in its own way. i still play it with fun, because it kept the sandbox-feeling like all GTAs since No.3.

About this theme here, with GTA 3 Rockstart Games (former DMA) reached a new level of genre and made awesome GTAs from then on. Keep it coming, and let us hope GTA 5 will be the most badass blockbuster ever seen!

Anyway, GTA III AND GTA IV arn't that different from each other.

They both take place in the same city, the map is 97% the same, and the missions kinda mirror each other in some kind of way.

Anyway you look at it, GTA IV was in some ways a enhanced remkae of GTA III. THats why GTA V is going to be a remake of GTA San Andreas. I hope some day R* will remake Vice City.
