Hi i was wondering if u could help me, I need to know how to sync a TB303 with a TR909 using "Deopfer MSY2" (using din sync leads) at the moment i have it setup like this...TR909 midi Sync In to--- MSY2 Sync, TB303 Sync In to---MSy2 2nd available Sync, midi out from PC (usingCubase Essential5) to--- MSY2 Midi In...
I cant seem to have the tr909 & tb303 to stay in tempo sync, 1 or both the tb303 & tr909 keeps gradually fading out of sync, is anyone familiar with this kind of issue?
@Filthdrive yes it does the same to me with the 303 or the 909 (only or both)...it goes out of sync...it depends on software, not on the machines, in fact if you use the machines linked stand alone they work and keep sync flawlessy!! I had great problems with Cubase & Nuendo. Using Ableton it goes better, but sometimes not!!!
@frankieserious "use the machines linked stand alone they work and keep sync flawlessy!!" ..i cant even get that right lol i thought it might be to do with damn Cubase! lol
I have Abelton live lite (free version) somewhere, do you think they will work ok with abelton live lite? Thanks for responding!
@Slight79 Hello there, you need to use a SYNC24 cable in order to connect the doepfer to the TB303 and then a MIDI cable from the doepfer to your computer. Cheers ;)
yeah, you're right...Roland is recycling his stuff again ang again...TB303+TR drum machines were SIMPLE but FAT sounding and a pleasure to play with! analog roughness
Wow! This is cool. I just got a Doepfer MSY2 box and I'm trying to exactly this. I want to sync my 606 with the ableton clock. I am new to the wonderful world of old gear so I'm struggling with getting it to work but I'm encouraged by the example.
No, it doesn't get any kind fo latency...with Ableton/Logic it's in perfect timing. It's hardware, no problems here, you could get problems just with the software you're using,if you use software as master clock! for example Cubase was not so in timing sometimes! however it's cheap and it's get one midi in,one midi thru (for chaining) and two midi sync24 out...
I just picked up an 808 and was trying to figure out what I needed to sync with Ableton... Your vid and your comment answers helped me out. Thanks

@Filthdrive not always...sometimes it works, sometimes not and loose sync (using Ableton). With Cubase or Nuendo it's almost impossible!!

Did you use MIDI cable or SYNC cable to connect your TB 303 to the Doepfer ?
Thanx for your answer !

I use the 303 linked to the 808 all the time, but MAN, I really like the 303 linked to the 606 WAY BETTER!!
