I loved this film, and watching Fernanda Montenegro struggle with her character's good and bad sides, and seeing the good side triumph over temptation. The ending is bittersweet for me.... Destiny is something I'm still trying to wrap my brain around.

Proving once again that the Oscars are a joke, this lost Best Foreign Film to "Life Is Beautiful." Even worse, Fernada Montenegro lost Best Actress to Gwynyth Paltrow. And "Shakespeare In Love" beat out "Saving Private Ryan" for Best Picture. 1999 was the last year I even bothered to watch the Oscars. Idiotic.

The title in English is WRONG. The original is "Central do Brasil" that wasn´t a station but a PRIVATE RAILWAY. Unfortunately the people that translate titles have no idea of what they are talking about. The station of the film was that one of the Central do Brasil railway.

In fact, it is a film production worthy of being recognized by the grandeur, and various reflections on the plot and of life itself!

Já havia assistido a Central do Brasil antes, porém, nunca enxerguei tal história com uma carga de emoção tão grande como agora.

De fato, é uma produção cinematográfica digna de ser reconhecido pela grandiosidade, e as várias reflexões acerca do enredo e da própria vida!

Marketing, the language, the country (which most of North-Americans doesn't have a clue where it lies) and the theme, poverty... The experience turned out to be bitter sweet to her and to us Brazilians.
