I've been taught the JKA way of doing this kata, and it doesn't seem to be missing any steps (to me at least).

trained by kagawa / masao sensei (former jka champion) and now jks (asai breakaway faction). Strong university in shotokan karate. Nagaki sensei now instructor at honbu in sugamo i think.

I agree. A basic kata like Jion just can't be done much better than this. I like thise Teikyo University guys.  They are really well trained, quality karateka.
