  • Would have been the only time that a title ever changed hands in a Lumberjack Match,

  • What video was this on?

  • fuck it, it's all a work anyway.

they all have selective memory and cherry pick the shit out of history....there's been other names to win the wwe title like inoki and are not recognized. but if you don't want an 'undesirable' then i guess it must be so.

  • "The "Cerebral Assassin" Owen Hart is and will Always be BETTER Than "Doofus Big Nose" Triple H. Long live the BlackHart!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!

  • I want WWE to protest make Owen wwe title reign official and make it known he was the 2nd grand slam champion

  • Damn I Hate It When Matches Get Overturned Its Pretty Stupid, A Victorys A Victory.

  • if Dolph Ziggler is recognized World Champion in the WWE so why is not Owen Hart?

  • @sermanfice Because at this point, Both World titles in WWE mean nothing especially when you have fly by night champs like Swagger, Ziggler, Miz, Del Rio.

  • @CAWGregoryBlack How was miz a fly by night champ? He held the belt longer than anyone since like 08

  • @Sneezlebob The Miz isn't what I'd consider a world champion...He is just like Cena in the fact that his spokesman work gets him pushed more than his entertainment value and in-ring work.

  • @CAWGregoryBlack Miz didnt start becoming a spokesman until after he got the belt. Miz worked his ass off to get to the spot he is in now. THat is at least admirable

  • @sermanfice i 100% agree with you.

  • @sermanfice Owen's title run was overturned. Ziggler's title run was 10-12 minutes because he lost the title in a rematch.

  • Owen was the best

  • Weither WWE Likes it or not i consider owen a triple crown champion

  • @MasterOfTimeForever more like the grand slam champ and the REAL 2nd one as well as the first to be grand slam and king of the ring

  • @kefkaroth srry but hbk won the european title before owen did

  • Holy crap, this happened in Portland, ME?! At the Civic Center?! Wow, WWE must have had low standards haha.

  • They still announced that he was the New Champion

On the title histories they should put it:

    Bret Hart - ?

    Owen Hart - Lumberjack

    Bret hart - Lumberjack

They should do it like Dolph Ziggler's title reign!

  • i bet if they knew owen would die young, they probably would have let him keep it and they would recognize it

  • Apparently, the title plans were dropped and this clip never made it to television or the history books.

  • Stupid WWE they never acknowledge these things. Remember the Rockers won the tag belts and got that wiped from history too.

  • Who are the guys wearing thongs on the outside of there tights?

  • @VerifiedNiceGuy That would be Well Dunn, Timothy Well and Steven Dunn. They were also known as The Southern Rockers in USWA and a few other promotions.

  • but that leads to a question, why let it even happen if they didn't intend to allow the decision to stand.

  • same thing happened with the Rockers who beat The Hart Foundation for the tag titles at a house show but were then told cause it wasn't televised it didn't happen.

They coulda just said ok he get's an immediate rematch but that's not the way wrestling works. with a nullify the referees decision and restarting the match it put over the Owen could beat Bret for the title be he didn't officially do it

Rules in wrestling apply on a match by match basis. Subject to change without notice :)

  • owen won it but then lost it after bret beat him the referees had the match restarted cus of the anvils interference.

This is why owen was never recognised as the champ cus of the anvil

  • wouldn't this make Owen a Grand slam champion

  • @CereBeLLum1388 wouldve been great plus being the first grand slam king of the ring champion. but noooo its the lame hhh

  • How did Owen lose the title then, and to who?

  • @YoureTuberzU this match was a house show. It was never on tv. so its as if it never happened. Bret remained the champ the following night and this match was never mentioned ever.

  • the reason why owen was never acknowledged as wwe champion is the same reason chris benoit was never acknowledged as wwe champion when he beat the rock for the title @ fully loaded 2000 & unforgiven 2000 or when chris jericho & eddie guerrero beat triple h on seperate episodes of RAW for the wwe championship.

  • @buffblockbuster that jericho one is still a world title win to me. that night made me lose all respect for cripple h

  • @kefkaroth

yes, it should be considered a title win. the crowd reaction was insane.

  • his belt

  • Woooooooooooooooooooo!!!

  • Owen should of got to kept the belt that was BS and i dont watch that match on account of that.

  • @patsman191 The Rockers also "won" the tag team belts from the Hart Foundation, this crap happened back in the day on the house show/home video circuit

  • Lumberjack matches are no DQ...There is no way they should have reversed the decision anyways...I used to have this on VHS and Owen is the uncrowned WWF Champion! Long live the King of Harts!!!!

  • l think owen is better than bret!!!

    OWEN RULEZZ!!!

  • he should be acknowledge even if it was 1 minute!

  • why the hell didnt WWE acknowledge this? besides, this wasnt as bad as the crap that WWE has going on today.

  • Fink sounds so depressed when announcing the decision.

  • @tsukasathetwinblade fink didnt even finish the announcement that owen wuz champ.

  • Owen was supposed to win the title here and hold it until summerslam wear he would lose it back to Bret, hints why it was a steel cage match so the anvil could not interfere. However Bret did not want to lose the title so they invented the instant replay rule to keep it on him. At least it was better then the “it was not an official ring” excuse they used to keep the rockers from winning the Tag team titles.

  • owen hart is the wwf champon and he is much better tahn cena he is the soul of this wrestling

  • Really now, why isnt this in the history books of the wwf/e championship? I mean, the title is won in this fashion nowadays on many occasion so why was this victory not recognized?

  • @nyakstar this aint the only time the wwe did this antonio inoki beat bob backlund for the world tittle

  • @nyakstar this aint the only time the wwe did this antonio inoki beat bob backlund for the world tittle

  • wow never knew owen won the title

  • How many times have guys won/retained titles after interference & kept it? Savage won at WMIV after Hogan interfered. 2nd time Bret has been in a title match that I know of & lost only to have it overturned later. The other a 2 out of 3 falls tag title match v the Rockers when the top rope broke after the 1st fall. Despite the Harts actually winning the 2nd fall before it was repaired, the Rockers' title win was stricken from the record. Know it's scripted but a little continuity would be nice?

  • Owen hart was the Kurt angle of his Time Great Techincial Wrestle,Colorful Moveset & Great on The Mic so Sorry Bret Hart fans it's true it's Damn True

  • According to Wikipedia, Bret won after the results were overturned due to interference

  • who is da otha announcer?

  • @TheCollinsjames "Sweet" Stan Lane of the Midnight Express

  • They should have let that title reign stand and then Owen could defend against Bret at Summerslam 94 where he'd win it back. I heard that they thought of given to Owen and holding on to cause Bret was suffering from strep throat and there was concern he might not be healthy enough for Summerslam

  • This is the first time I've ever seen this. Some of you said the decision was reversed and Bret later won. Is that part of the match on video somewhere? Also, did anyone notice Howard Finkle never finished announcing Owen Hart as the new Champion? He just said, "A neeeeew, World.....Wrestling.....Federation....(announcement stopped).

  • What video is this from? I read they did this storyline of Owen "winning" the title at a house show one night. Owen won the belt and the decision was overturned and the title was declared vacant. Bret and Owen had a ladder match later in the night for the vacant title which Bret won. I read that one time that this occoured at a house show.

  • @sxwrulz

This match is from The Coliseum Video Release WHAM BAM BODYSLAM which came out in March of 1995. There are some great matches on this tape along with this one such as: Lex Luger vs Tatanka, Bret Hart & British Bulldog vs Owen Hart & The Anvil, Razor Ramon vs Jeff Jarrett, Lex Luger & Smoking Gunns vs Tatanka, Diesel & Shawn Michaels, Alundra Blayze vs Bull Nakano along with a 20 Man Battle Royal. All the matches are from houseshows and during TV Tapings! Good Old days in the WWF!

  • @ateammember6 How is this match from March 1995 when Diesel was WWF champion from November 94 til November 95????

  • @cjzavos The VIDEO TAPE of these matches was RELEASED in MARCH of 1995, but the matches themselves actually took place in the LATER part of 1994, mostly between AUGUST & NOVEMBER of 1994. Back in these days, it would take a couple of months sometimes for certain matches to be released on video tape, which is exactly what we had at the time.

  • @ateammember6 Cheers!

  • If this match acknowledged Owen winning the WWF Championship then he would have been the second Grand Slam Champion

  • Owen and Bret had great matches and they were always clean wins either way. It was like the definitive sibling rivalry

  • thas werid

  • Owen Hart=wwe hof 2011.

  • i remember this was in a magazine at the time. there used ot be a magazine with a guy called vic venom writing for it, he did a huge article on this match

  • if Owen lived, he would've had 10 ACKNOWLEDGED WWE championship wins like this by now.....he was certainly the best wrestler in the family, and i am not just saying that because he is deceased. The fact that they did a brother vs brother angle with Bret Hart, proves that he was going to outshine him and step out of his shadow.....

  • Never knew this existed. Was this addressed in TV at all?

I like the celebration in the ring. It's like the mirror universe version of WrestleMania X.

  • Congrats Owen Hart R.I.P WWE Champion Even It Dnt Count

  • I had never seen this before

  • The decision was reversed and the match continued. Bret ended up winning.

  • @bent8four8 Thank you. I was a bit confused for a moment.

  • There was no emotion in Gorilla's voice or Stans. When something like this went down on a match Gorilla was annoncing he was much more passionate then this. Just something I picked on, a little weird

  • People should also remember; that Owen Hart was never acknowledged, because he is a Hart family member. VKM still has heat against Bret for him not being willing to drop the belt at Survivor Series. Hart is only GM of RAW; because with the kid rating that RAW has now, Bret can only do such much damage to the show. Vince NEVER forgets a grudge.

  • @mindphreak4money

so that is why he brought bret back to battle against TNA's hardcore lineup of the first monday night war? That is why vince said he would never wrestle again but saw money in him and bret fighting at wrestlemania? That is why vince produced a DVD on bret and another on the entire family? That is why bret is in the HOF and so is stu? That is why when Flair said all that BS of hart not making WWF money vince backed Bret up? Oh yes vince hates bret for sure.

  • @2WIREG Yes, VKM did all of the above BECAUSE he saw some temporary money from the heat between himself and Bret. Even HBK commented, when he said that Canadians STILL talk about matches that he had 12 years ago (He was alluding to the "Montreal Srewjob". Even VKM said during interviews that Bret NEVER made any REAL money for the WWE. He just bring Hart back to get a descent pay day a times. Watch real interviews from time to time, and don't solely rely on what you see on MNR or programming.

  • @mindphreak4money

LOL He never made him REAL money? Do you have proof? LMFAO you are a retard. Plain and simple. A true dipshit. Maybe you should stop listening to what HBK said 12 years ago when all this went down. LOL you have no proof. You have nothing to back you claims. I have plenty of it in my previous comment. Only delusional HBK and Flair fans think this BS. Nice fail. I look forward to your comeback LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @mindphreak4money That's funny shit, considering the fact that by the numbers, the worst WWF champion of all time was Shawn Michaels in his first reign. he brought in less than any other champion at any other time

  • @Hitman27100 Actually Bret Hart’s third title rain from Survivor Series 95 to Wrestlmania 12 was worst. The numbers started going up a bit after HBK won the title but they still were not that good. They fell drastically after Hart beat Flair for the title in 92 and did not really recover until Montreal.

  • @rafff18 Actually viewing figures in 96 were worse when HBK had the title.

  • @2WIREG wow ric flair actualy said tht?

  • @mindphreak4money lol I have to answer you on that, VKM is not acknowledging Owen for legal reasons, Owen's wife would sue him. He would love to put Owen in the HOF but his uptight wife won't allow it, even Bret is mad at Owen's wife for not allowing WWE to acknowledge Owen. Also Bret and Vince had been in good terms since 2006.

  • Haha. Gorilla: "What was that a girl or a boy Stan?"

  • you never see the rest, it was probly reversed or something. but it would have been cool if he won.

  • The Rocket..

  • Yup, the possibilities are all there, if Owen would have never taken the stunt, I could see him feuding with Austin for the title at Summerslam 99 (two years after he broke his neck, perfect build up to the event),I could even see him win the title at WM XX (in a figure four way against HBK, HHH, and Benoit) how appropriate, him winning the title ten years after his brother did in the same building, of course it's only what if. :(

Owen=HOF next year(make it happen WWE)

  • This was in Portland, Maine on August 17, 1994. Taped a couple weeks before Summer Slam.

  • They should have let Owen win and hold on to it til Summer Slam 94, that way he could go in the champ and then lose it back to Bret. He deserved it, personally i think he would have been wwe champion by fall 99 if he was still there, possibly competing with Davey Boy over the title.

  • @Bull1908 Owen was thinking about retiring.

  • If Owen was still alive he will be the next WWE Champion.

  • Owen was WWE Champion. WWE should acknowlede this.

  • @RTBTHM I wish this is what really happened, after the video cuts out, the referees actually re-start the match right after due to the interference and bret wins. I honestly wished Owen could have had a WWE title run in his career, the man deserved it. RIP Owen

  • @ashehole he would of in 1998 if it wasnt for shawn Michaels

  • @RTBTHM definitely. Even though the decision was overturned, he was still the champion- even for a minute.

  • @RevolvingDoor22 WRONG. A decision being overturned means that the result is changed. As in that win for him doesn't exist. It's a loss.

  • @gamelvr1 lol I remember your stupid ass arguign with me on other vids. Real anger issues you have. Anyways you are wrong. Yokozuna was champ for 5 minutes after beating Hart at Wrestlemania 9, then Hogan comes in and magically wins the title. Ok, that made no sense at all, and the WWF recognized Hogan as champion. So please, keep your anger issues to yourself.

  • @RevolvingDoor22 The results never changed you idiot. Let me guess you also consider Ken Shamrock a two time Intercontinental champion (wm14 reference). The facts are clear. Owen never was champ because the result was overturned. As screwed up as the ending to wm9 was, it doesn't negate the fact that hogan's win was legit.

  • @gamelvr1 He he, you know, I love how you are thinking as if WWF is real and everything is concrete and has to follow rules. Listen to me, because you're going to be hurt and confused when I type this, but pro wrestling follows STORY LINES, meaning that title reigns are not REAL, but staged and preconceived. I know that you are thinking "first Santa Clause, now this", but someone should've told you. The match with Hogan epitomizes this. Owen won. HE WAS CHAMPION. Nothing you can say now, moron.

  • HAHAHA, The find... AND NEW... World..... wreeessllling... feeedd... HAHA Said it slow... Shut up, I thought it was funny.

  • @nu2life80

LOL, something was creepy about that, like Finkel was slowly dying and his words just started dragging.... WEIRD.

  • @RyanIsOffended - probably b/c Owen always proclaimed how he was the King of Harts and the best there is, was, and ever will be...

  • I always thought Owen should have been champ atleast once in either 98 or 99. The guy was perfect in terms of talent, great with the mic and was super over.

P.S. I love the celebration at the end, it clearly mimics his brother Bret's celebration victory at the end of Wrestlemania X.

    RIP: OWEN

  • If only this was a real moment. Owen circa 1994 was off the charts awesome.

  • it was but the ref reversed the decision for no reason and restarted the match when owen had his back turned

  • K seriously, why isn't the WWE acknowledging this? I understand it was just a Colliseum video incident and probably never meant to see the light of day, but come on. Seriously, it would be fitting for the memory of a deceased wrestler to be acknowledged as a former WWE Champion after he clearly won it.

  • It would be even more fitting if he actually won it.

  • The ref overturned it and restarted the match and Bret won. It was great for a moment.

  • I totally agree even sgt. slaughter was reconized as champion after the outside interference by macho king at royal rumble 1991

  • @Kristian2006 because the match was continued after a second ref came in and pointed out the interference, so the ref ordered that the match would continue, thus voiding Owen's actual win. I know I have the WHOLE match on VHS

  • @Kristian2006 same as Harley Race winning the title for two days and Bob Backlund loosing the World title to Antonio Anoki.

  • @Kristian2006 because the match was restarted as if it didn't count due to interference.

  • @Kristian2006 Vince Russo actually published an article about the match in 1994, complete with a shot of Owen holding the title up. I wish they let him hold it til Summerslam 94. have owen go into summerslam as champion and bret beats him back. doing that they could have added a if bret doesn't beat owen he will end his career would have added more to the match.
