No one should try what they are doing at home. It is not safe to handle hydrogen and oxygen when they are mixed together like that. It is the equivilent of trying to prove that gasoline engines are safe by connecting a hose from the exhaust pipe to the inside of the car and trying to breath automobile exhaust. It is dangereous. We need CODE and ANS for these kinds of inventions to make them safe.

Basic science, and great job for involving your kid. But, the energy that would be derived from the hydrogen is actually less than the energy required to produce the hydrogen, so it's not an energy crisis solution.

My current experiments show that only 72 watts are used to operate a 6 cell configuration...  current is spread across the cells at a rate of only 2 amps per cell - so, I'm sorry, but you are sadly mistaken... MPG has improved from 27 to 51 in my Nissan Sentra. Emissions are near zero and the engine runs cooler, quieter, smoother and with a noticable increase in power.

I don't get it...even if you modified your Sentra to run on hydrogen, how can you measure MPG with hydrogen? I'm pretty sure that you can't turn your hydrogen into liquid form at home. The way you said it (Quoting "It runs cooler, quieter, smoother..." you're implying combustion of the hydrogen, which is a pretty stupid thing to suggest. Unless the Americans have a crazy hydrogen internal combustion engine that I've never heard about.

The car still uses gasoline - the hydrogen significantly reduces the AMOUNT of gasoline used for cumbustion. And YES Hydrogen burns... right along with the gasoline. Do your homework and don't be such a detractor... DO YOUR OWN EXPERIMENTS - then judge.

so once you've got the hydrogen, you just mixed it with gasoline in the tank? in it's gaseous state? how'd you get it in your tank or did you add on a canister somewhere along the fuelline? how'd you get it to mix?
