Love this song, bring back the memories- it was a shame that Mark did not win Pop Idol he had a good voice.Oh cd-uk so wish this was still on tv,it was a great to watch on a Sat. We dont have any programmes like this anymore especially now top of the pops has gone which is a shame.

Yes, they're great singers & I know what you mean, but they weren't really given a chance because they came out of Pop Idol & back then there was kind of a backlash against it all, radio stations didn't play their material, and they were dropped by their record company. Musically they didn't really work as a duo. They did the sensible thing imo and made use of their talents in TV to earn a living. Sam still sings / plays in a band and does gigs in his hometown so he does still use his talent.

If you're talking about the song in the video (Measure of a Man) the original was not sung by LA (I've never heard of them). It was sung by Clay Aiken, runner up in the 2nd season of American Idol- I still think he should've won. The song is featured on his debut album with the same name (Measure of a Man).

I still prefer Clay's version.

This wasn't actually their second single, it was the second track from their first single, With a Little Help From My Friends. I doubt they'd have had much say in what they recorded - it would have been decided by 19 Management. Hope that helps a little!

In the Pop Idol final each contestant was given an own song to sing, and later release as a single, together with the "winning song" (All this time). Mark got, or picked, this song. I guess also 3rd placed Sam rehearsed the song in case he would be one of the two finalists.

As a clarification, in the Pop Idol final Mark sang this song on his own and made it far better than this version. I.e, the song does suit a one man singer and not Sam's voice.
