Horus is an Egyptian Son of God. Born 3000bc. Also known as Hours-the tracker of the light(day) Set is the Dark. Known as Sunset or the Horizon. Was born on Dec.25th,born by a virgin, teacher @ 12,adorned by 3 kings, had 12 disciples, performed miracles, known as "lamb of God","the light",betrayed, crucified, dead for 3 days, and Ressurected just like Jesus. Horus is his name....
dude..i'm not sure how accurate this explanation is...distorted light i don't think effects the color...cuz the color of the sunset can vary...i think it has to do with temperature, i'm not sure.
Temperature has little to nothing to do with the lights color itself, although it does play a huge part in the existence of the atmosphere, and can be somewhat of a product to scattering effects. Shorter wavelengths of light will be absorbed by the much larger gaseous particles, whereas longer wavelengths will pass through like ghosts, we, the observers, will see what is absorbed. As the sun gets furthest away from the observer, the smaller wavelengths are scattered so much, you see red
The society we live in (The US and a lot of the world) is based on the fact that the majority believes in Christianity. Christianity claims to be the end-all in knowledge about the world and why/how we're here.
So I guess you could say it's the Christians that have made our society lazy. Therefore, they caused the Big Mac..which is neither big, or mac-like.
The oversimplification of everything as "man was not meant to know, God did it with his magic" makes the world we are able to experience smaller and smaller, and is designed to counter any attempt at reason or logic, which makes it very unlike a Mac. Macs are user friendly and make sense. Christianity (among other organized religions) is intentionally convoluted and non-user friendly.
You're only an failed actor/singer/musician Ian. What the fuck do you know? Stop memorizing scripts and faking that you have knowledge of anything other than how to fire up a bong.
And incorrect :) The blue of the sky is the blue wavelenght light scattered due to the size of the molecules in the athmosphere - during sunset, light passes throug much more of the athmosphere, so most of the blue has scattered away before reaching your eye, leaving the next most scattering color - red.
Einstein's major theories are still relevant because they have stood the rigerous test of time, but furthermore, they are mathmatically and experimentally sound - he showed that light's speed is constant, if you want to refute that then do some research - the only way science could be what you accuse it of is if all scientists were like YOU. You've just spent 10 mins giving a very weak, mess of an
explaination of basic optics. Critisizing the state of science - you should be ashamed of yourself.
As far as using magnets to control clouds, Dangerouse because your fucking with the magnetisphere which controls the spin of the earth. I hope scientist don't start fucking with magnets in the atmosphere.
whats very cool is how close you got on your own and when you went in the complete wrong direction you actually caught yourself and laughed and said, that may not be true, ha ha ha.Your subconcious learned this years ago and was sending you a message. funny but true.
(Its not the speed or time spent it the distance and amount of gas molecules its reflected off of.
So your right Ian, colors are clasified as wavelengths u.v. being I frequency and red being lower. They all travel at the same speed however. The higher energy blue waves crest more often there fore they are composed of more energy. The low frequencies crest less often and are carriing less energy. The actual light from the sun is all traveling at the same speed. This is where it gets complicated.
the fact that the higher energy waves crest more means there actually zig zaging through more acutall distance. For example if you went to new york via toronto you would cover more miles. la to nyc. same actual distance less miles covered.
The fact that the blue light hits more gas molecules etc it gets reflected or deflected so to speak. The Red waves take a more direct path and are reflected less often. What you see during the day is the refletion of those blue rays being scattered and diflected back and forth from gas molecules in the atmostphere. At sunset more atmosphere is pass through so the blue rays have been reflected so many times they can't past through to your eye.
The red waves pass through less gass molecules and reach your eye while the blue light is partying in toronto. Get it. I'll send you a link. Loved this topic.
obviosly this gets complicated depend on the amount of h2o (clouds in the sky) Electromangetic storms etc. One way to think of things is that colors on objects for example are not really those colors. A red car is not red. The paint that is on it is just the right combination of chemicals to either absorb all other frequencies or reflect red.
I just did a google and it turns out that Suns Ray's can be characterized by different wavelengths so I stand corrected. I will read a little bit more and see if color itself can be characterized that way and get back to with my findings.
High school science. I don't remember. But I think it has not much to do with the speed of the light hitting us as much as it has to do with the angle. I'm sure if you google "color spectrum" you can actually find out what is going on. I also don't know if characterizing colors by wave length is appropriate. The word you used scattering seems like a plausible direction to go with your theory.
I would imagine that when your looking (your perspective) at a sunset your looking through much more atmosphere. the atmosphere above the point of direct sunlight plus all the sideway's atmostphere to that point. I can't do the math but if your looking straigt up your looking at only the atmosphere above you
The way the light interacts with the atmosphere is an equation between the amount of light hitten it and the amount of atmostphere.
O man.... who gave this guy a board to draw on!!!??? Ive said it before, Ill say it again. You are, by far, the best comedian on youtube..... Im crying Im laughing so hard....."Now what I believe is happening..." too funny, whew...
Do you just make up shit as you go? You make no sense. You know nothing about science. I'm not sure whats more scary, the state of your mental health or the people who subscribe to you.
I agree that a lot of current science is outdated and based off of even older science. One thing that I have always wondered is if we could go back in time, would we discover different things? Is there possibly some other concept like electricity/magnetism/fire that could be tamed that we never really 'discovered'. And now no one really looks back that far, most new science/technology seems focused on combining things we have to get new things.
wrong. The sun's rays do not "head off in all directions". The sun is far enough away from us that by the time it reaches us the light is more or less collimated.
So you got yerself some purious logic from the word Go. In other words, talk about what you know. Or -wait!! Go outside and learn something FROM SOMEONE ELSE!!
First off, Dyson using the spherical wheel in his new hoover doesnt constitue "re-inventing the wheel" - however it doesnt really matter because dylonion's request was rhetorical and used to point out that a lot of old ideas still hold because they work. Second - the natural laws ARE science. We explain the way nature seems through science. In essence, natural law is our perception - so it certainly does change. For instance - Einstein greatly updated Newtons idea of gravity - a natural law.
Right - as garjagan says, that was just a rhetorical example. There is certainly nothing wrong with innovation. My critique is that Ian obviously has an inquisitive mind, if he would actually be willing "check his ego" like he is always talking about, and learn from other people, then maybe he could even contribute to science in ways that can't be empirically refuted by a 3rd grade science class.
I think a common misconception is that people think that humanity has been getting progressively more intelligent. We really have the same mind, physiologically, that we have had for thousands of years. We have progressed so far scientifically because we have been building upon each others ideas.
Exactly. Issac Newton famously accredited his acheivements to "standing on the shoulders of giants". That's a great quote. Sadly one that Ian seems to have no concept of whatsoever.
Truth, by definition, is not deceptive. It does not imply falsehood. The discovery of experimental method in the 17th Century led to the Enlightment and an end to unsubstantiated claims. Truth, i.e. Science, is based on evidence. The conclusions that we draw may be based on faulty logic and need correction. The truth in the original observations remains the same. It cannot be disposed of as easily as Ian might wish. For change to take place we need to improve our methods of error detection.
The only advantage to the Dyson ball might be added stability at low speeds. A tube tire uses less material in its construction. Perceptions can change within the framework of Relativity but there are still "invariants" which can be taken for natural laws. Newton's laws were based on assumptions which observation of nature later proved incorrect. One cannot equate natural law with what we imagine it to be. Observations which change over time or from different perspectives are not natural law.
you can slow light down by a third through glass alone, and it stays the same colour, i dont think its length because the light around the sun looks red/orange,but above youre head its still blue, but for people inbetween us (sunset) and then noon (directly under the sun) wouldnt the sky be green or purple?
Cool. I've never seen an analysis of a sunset before. This reminds me of something I read about the ancient Greeks and how they believed that the Earth was curved because of the eclipse.
Haven't read any comments so this may be redundant: Aw, c'mon man, what happened to finishing off dealing with the concept of "Intention?"

hah no idea! I'm not claiming to have a solution to all the worlds needs :P just saying I think its a massive change we need, like a step back and a step forward into a better evolutionary path, something like that. I think we went wrong somewhere, and a lot of our changes won't new discoveries, but changes to our current perspectives on things already in place, like govt/world politics, science, philosophy, morality.
I'm thinking that step back, is going to hurt though (chaos/war?)
I'm thinking a step back is going to hurt, too, chaos/war, and that might be too dangerous. I favor evolution over revolution. Neither one is very user-friendly, but I'd rather live in a fucked up world where I can still eat.
I see what you mean, but I favour revolution, its not as violent as the reputation of the word. I dont think physically evolving would make much difference, the change needs to happen in our minds, not our bodies. I reckon revolution would test peoples real morality, social structure, damage to the earth, views on what life is. Plus any new power humanity gains these days, is only used for harm anyway. Maybe we will just suddenly 'evolve' and we'll start acting sensibly, but I doubt it :(
Maybe we're acting as sensibly as we can and need to improve our understanding so we can act even more sensibly. Maybe human nature isn't as flexible as we think. Maybe we are animals. Maybe we are making progress in controlling that behavior, but that progress is obscured by runaway growth in populations and technologies of destruction.

I thought you had some physics? Anyway it's simple, when the light hits the atmosphere at an angle, it splits the light because different colors bend different amounts, making a rainbow like any prism would (cover of dark side of the moon, e.g.). It's a huge rainbow. As the angle changes between us and the sun while the earth rotates, we move through the rainbow it makes, seeing the different colors as we swing into that bar of light.
Would u say that part of our atmosphere is plasma-ish?

Maybe we're acting as sensibly as we can and need to improve our understanding so we can act even more sensibly. Maybe human nature isn't as flexible as we think. Maybe we are animals. Maybe we are making progress in controlling that behavior, but that progress is obscured by runaway growth in populations and technologies of destruction.

There is a blue, yellow and red spectrum..ooo there you said it..never mind. We see in blue you can't see the red or yellow unless you use a prism.
