I've seen him on some EPT tours and he's a really nice guy. Hung out with the fans, gave autographs and share poker tips.
While I do think Tony G is a good guy I think his acts here were some what to do with he hand. At the river he told the guy he could 'go all in' - that could be a trick to make the guy think he was really strong and wanted him to go all in so he could bust him.
And when he saw that he was raising anyway (and Tony knew he couldnt call) he let him do what ever cuz Tony was gonna fold all along.
All that said I love the way Tony plays and deliberately antagonizes his opponents.

99% of players wouldn't have let the other guy, raise when he didn't say raise, string bet and still be nice about it.
Tony G is a master of psychology and knows how to wind certain players up to enduce an unnecessary raise and call.
I'm guessing, those who don't like him are the ones who aren't very good at psychlogical banter, which is an important part of live poker.

I'm not saying I know Tony G is fake when he donates money, but it sure as hell doesn't change my opinion of him when he's rude to someone he just knocked out.

Tony is not doing it to get into their heads...it's just who he is.

@felix242 Then you must know a different Tony G than i do. Everytime I talk to him he is a very pleasant, courteous person. As far as Ralph Perry goes, you just made my point. Ralph has been a professional player for 30 years, that's the type of player Tony G is going to go after because Ralph should be able to handle it.

In other professional sports i dont hear players saying stuff like "bring on the russians" which not only insults a person but a nation.

Most trash talk from Tony receive Phil Hellmuth, reason must be obvious. Insulting nation? i don`t think so: "he won a tournament in Moscow, earning $205,000. In his blog, he says that he left all of his prize money with the officials to give to Russian orphanages" - wiki. And yes, he is playing Cartman role on the tables. And looks like that works out well.

I'd take phil's rants of "idiot" and swearing over Tony G's arrogant tirades. Because Phil does it out of anger cause he has no emotional control. Tony G says things cause he's the dick that he is. Of course he's a nice guy, same as Hellmuth. What they do at the poker table is merely a tactic to break others concentration. Sledging goes on in most sports, and with poker, but probably none more than poker. He may appear to be being nice here, but if you notice his demeanor, he keeps his authority on the other guy. I couldn't see that guy calling Tony's next bluff.

And plus if you notice he only trash talks and bad mouths the big pros who have their own ego issues. He's normally very cool with the unkowns and the amateurs he plays with.
I've seen him on some EPT tours and he's a really nice guy. Hung out with the fans, gave autographs and share poker tips.

While I do think Tony G is a good guy I think his acts here were some what to do with he hand. At the river he told the guy he could 'go all in' - that could be a trick to make the guy think he was really strong and wanted him to go all in so he could bust him.
And when he saw that he was raising anyway (and Tony knew he couldnt call) he let him do what ever cuz Tony was gonna fold all along.
All that said I love the way Tony plays and deliberately antagonizes his opponents.
