  • This guy said that 2012 was just another year, nothing unusual going on in the galaxy????

  • @rich103987654 True. Sun, Earth, galaxy center come into same alignment every year. Also, there are sources which better explain the cyclical nature of the Mayan calendar.

  • @AegisNova I'm sure what you said is accurate, but to see what is happening I would tell you to check out Carl Calleman and Bruce Lipton both PhD. Their are many more experts I am not one. The magnetic and energetic changes are real and already happening.

  • @AegisNova Greydon Square

  • I am so happy that I have such a fascination and deep love with the cosmos..

  • Eargasm at 2:01 !!!

  • did anybody see oscar hop out of that garbage at 2:07

  • I know I'm not the only one who shed a man tear watching this.

  • @Poeticpecan Yeah dude its a good song but your the only one that cried about it. Jesus man whats wrong with you?

  • The world is a better place because of you, melodysheep. Truly inspiring music.

  • Neil is truly my hero

  • "onward to the edge" then he moves forward, amazing

  • i was listening to this while i was walking home from school. the weather was perfect clear sky, warm, with a cool breeze and i was walking under the shadows of large oak trees and i saw some flowers in gloom. the sun was glistening on the surface of the river. it was perfect. i couldnt help but walk with a big smile on my face : )

  • Thank you, Melodysheep, for these amazing tributes to science and rational thinking.

  • Niel Tyson should be the next president of the USA.

  • @Erik0072 If that´s gonna be the case I´m gonna be moveing to the U.S. immediatly!! But now I´m very happy to live here in Germany, where christianity is not equivalent for insanity!!

  • This has got to be my favorite from The Symphony of Science, makes me feel emotional!

  • You need to make a music video of just Neil Degrasse Tyson

  • shaddddddddddddddddddddddddddup and just listen

  • where did degrasse tysons 'my favourite universe series go? It was on youtube for a while and has since disappeared. Any ideas where I could find it?

  • look out, we've got a bad ass over here.

  • why cant we replace aggression with curiosity? guns with hammers and nails? thinking on revenge of the past with to thinking to the beauty of the future? nightmares with dreams? I've never seen anything so beautiful as this, lets make it a reality.

  • @thisara8 You are right. We can only hope more people starting thinking (then acting) like you.

  • Can you guys imagine how far we would off been if we made worldpeace and transferred all the millitary budget to space exploration budget? that would increase our space exploration budget with 3,1 trillion dollars! And the budget of space exploration is today at a little bit higher than 100 billion!

    Thumbs up if you agree!

  • @Arcimists Imagine if people would get together and just explore space free of charge for the sake of advancing the human race and discovering the phenomena life :) I dream of this day

  • @EditorAwesome That would off been a great day of triumph, but sadly the world is too capitalistic to do such a thing. Damn sometimes i really think the world would be better with Karl Marx's idea of communism (don't mistake that for Stalins communism, that's not real communism, he was just hiding behind it) The world must first learn to co-operate and stop waging wars on eachother, then we could aim for such a project

  • @Arcimists Ahh yes communism :) The real dilemma is though is do we wait for the human race to stop hating one an other or do we knuckle down and just place a larger focus on space exploration anyway and hope that our other issues solve themselves? Because if we wait we will be waiting for ever. :'(

  • @Arcimists 100 billion? That's completely wrong. There's only a few billion each year put into actual exploration of space and most of that over the last 40 years has been spent on robotic probes. NASA is pretty much the only space agency that matter and they only get just under 18 billion a year for the whole agency. Are you pro space flight or not because spreading lies doesn't help the cause. Just getting NASA to 20 billion per annum would be awesome!

  • Dude.........no edge

  • @comedeyzone

    Reply win :P

  • 3:07 to the ends always send chills up my spine

  • I love Neil deGrasse Tyson, he may not be the most famous scientist, but he is my fav

  • scientists are the new rockstars, all kids want to be them, all adults are trying to become one and the ones that are already are idolised. and why not, sceintists are so fantasticaly inpirational.

  • @Areyourealythatdumb No they aren't the new rock stars. They are starting to get some of the notority they should have.

  • @kokofan50 i don't literaly mean rockstars. i mean that they are the cool guys now, its good.

  • @Areyourealythatdumb I know what you ment. I was saying that they aren't as well knowen as you said but they are becomeing that well knowen

  • I love Carolyn Porco! Her hook line gives me chills!

  • Who else got choked up when Cox quoted the Pale Blue Dot--

  • This is how they should teach science on schools.

    Peace!

  • The Teaching Company LLC. put the ban-hammer on "My Favorite Universe" @ youtube. :\

  • Trying to link to where you can buy the course, but stupid thing won't let me. >.<

  • I love the last line

  • Brian Cox is awesome ^_^

  • those 32 people fell of the edge.

  • my love for science is something that can't be discribe, it's just amazing, and when i see the symphony, all of them, just makes my heart bit faster, tks for this amazing thing u did, i'm realy happy with this, tks...

  • Obama is cutting NASA's budget by.

  • watch out,we got a singer over here.

  • If you want to contribute to science, download a program called BOINC (google it). You can choose a bunch of projects such as one that is building a giant 3d model of the Milky Way, and the program will use your computer's power to help build it. There are like 50 different projects to choose. Basically it's like a few hundred thousand computers connected together all helping to solve the same problem, so you're like part of a supercomputer.

  • @CRISNCHIPS12398 Neil Degrasse Tyson said on Reddit that he has seen Symphony of Science and he thinks they're great :)

  • I used to be an Atheist until I actually saw Him, he said his name was Neil deGrasse Tyson.

  • I wish rappers sounded like this, and rapped about stuff like this.

  • @AegisNova That is why we have symphony of Science

  • @AegisNova Hey I had the same thought, so I started writing some lyrics about the wonders of our existence and also some creationist bashing punchlines! Problem is, I suck at rapping...but things can always change!

  • @ptango666 Excellent!

  • @AegisNova gogo start rapping! lead the revolution from nigger rap to science rap

  • @ViXoN2 Well, rap used to have more social relevancy -- and there are still guys and women in that community trying to get back to what it was before it seemed to become about female dogs and garden tools! As for me, I think I inspired Al Yankovic's "White and Nerdy" :D Something to think about, though.

  • I wish I became a scientist when I grew up.

  • @ftlqed ehhhh what?

  • Worlds unnumbered, they need teleporation so he shits his ass at the not fragile unverse. You like load a game, blow it up, whoa, I can't win because your gay, your far to gay to win, I'll find a not so gay world, ah, its fragile, to many fragile worlds, think about it to many fragile worlds, the anti-path makes teleporters to many rape earths.

  • @ftlqed What

  • @ftlqed Who turned the computer on for you????

  • Love it !!!!

  • When I grow up, I'm gonna be a scientist.

  • @WolvesBane95 Go for it. The greatest satisfaction, reward, accomplishment, revelation is the knowledge. Religion is empty, it does not answer any question.

  • @WolvesBane95 Push forward!

  • @WolvesBane95 Good choice. Need more young minds like you.

  • @WolvesBane95 When you are born, you are a scientist.

  • @zdunichme wtf wut?

  • @TheAngelGamings Think about it

  • @WolvesBane95 I salute you for it. Our country don't seem to have enough scientist.

  • @WolvesBane95 , Wish all the kids thought that way :')

  • @WolvesBane95 Yes. We need more people like you. :D

  • @WolvesBane95 Do it man! :)

  • @WolvesBane95 Never grow up - You lose that sense of wonder. Scientists are still kids at heart. They just get to play with the REALLY COOL TOYS!

  • @NorthForkFisherman You are awesome.

  • @gtas321 I'm just a student, but when I hear these guys speak, I realize that I've had some damn fine teachers. They've opened my mind and imagination. And that is a value beyond diamonds, any day.

  • @WolvesBane95 You will never regret it.

  • @WolvesBane95 why wait start now

  • Your videos give me hope.

  • I wonder if any of the great scientists featured in these videos have seen them...

  • @CRISNCHIPS12398 Neil puts them on his FB and twitter feeds so i know one for sure!

  • What's wrong with quoting the song. It does not bother me intact I love rereading quotes I've already heard. Can't believe people are getting butt hurt over that.

  • skip the autocrapytune :(

  • Life is amazing and absolutely ,completely ,mysteriously beautyful.....

  • what ever you do,DO NOT quote any part of this song or the geeks will ATTACK!!!!!

  • Who knew that science could make such great music?

  • The Creator created Science. oh yeah that's how it is.

" Sea of stars just at the sea of stars.. mercury is the closest planet.. this tortured piece of

    planet been.."

  • @coltsrule5150 You sound redundantly redundant.

  • @stoofer97 Melodysheep has said himself there are issues with using Sagan's material. Just read the description of Children of Africa. He used Sagan's material in all SoS's up untill then and he hasn't used any since. Based on That alone we could come to this conclusion. After all nobody seemed to mind Sagan's overrepresentation untill he stopped being represented at all.

  • FOR SCIENCE!!!

  • If someone come here saying that the world is beautiful and therefor there is a god.......

  • i hav nothing to say about this one except great work man :DD

  • People, you can buy a bundle with all Symphony of Science songs up to now from melodysheep's profile!

I suggest we ALL do this, to support him to create more of this fantastic series.

  • LOL He wasn't allowed to use Carl Sagan, so he used someone else saying one of his most famous quotes of all time.

    Well played, Melodysheep. Well played.

  • Hey Neil, like the tie!

  • this is our sun, just another star in a sea of stars, the heart of the solar system

mercury is the closest planet, this torched piece of rock has been stripped naked

  • @coltsrule5150 Yeah. He just said that. There wasn't a need for you to copy it.

  • @flyersphan111 copy what? stupid

  • @flyersphan111 ahh you're talking about one of my favorite quotes in the song? i see

where do you live? here in the free world we can say what we want, and if ppl dont like it they are free to cry about like the fragile children they are

so do the only thing you can do,cry about it

  • @coltsrule5150 No, I was just pointing out that there's no reason to repeat what Brian Cox just said. We already heard it.

  • @flyersphan111 you sound republican

  • @coltsrule5150 listen, you are terribly misguided, The ONLY reason Melody Sheep chose to use Brain cox's voice for that quote, rather than Carl's, is because Cox had been singing throughout the entire song, I mean, you make the assumption that because Carl didn't say it was because melody wasn't allowed? I mean look, he has used his voice, and many other people's voices. So, before you go saying things you know nothing about, don't?

  • @stoofer97 i never said anything about carl sagan,i simply quoted my favorite part of the song what the fuck are you people really that fucking bored?

  • @coltsrule5150 No, I'm not that stupid. I'm just saying that we already heard it. We didn't need to read it again.

  • @flyersphan111 i simply quoted my favorite part of the song, you could have simply disliked, why you actualy took the time to comment is beyond me

  • Comment removed

  • LET'S MOVE ONWARD TO THE EDGE ONE M00:00RE TIME!!!

  • Only 0.0458715596% of people disliked. Shows how awesome you are doing melody sheep!

  • @dabears17x religious...

  • @dabears17x You should check your math, bro.

  • @dabears17x acutally...its 0.4% , not 0.04 ;)

  • All of this is just common sense - all the things these people are saying are facts (and these bear repeating) - I just love how soothing these sound, I can work with this in the background - no talk about banging some chick at the club or slow love making with a one night stand etc. I hope melody sheep never stops this project.

  • i would bang neil degrasse tyson like a screen door in a hurricane.

  • @wellgeewhizz

    the fuck?

  • Neil deGrasse Tyson is proof that not all nerds are scrawny dweebs. That fucker was captain of his high school's wrestling team. Makes me proud to be a nerdy boxer.

  • I can't get enough learning now that I am older. It's like we have to mature mentally to take in the deep concepts of science that is lost to us when we are young. This kind of media help others retain the message that is being put forth in a fun & entertaining way instead of the boring droning on of deadpan voiced teachers with no enthusiasm for what they are attempting to teach. Learning must be hands on, entertaining & mysterious to capture a child's mind as well as an adult's.Thank You!!

  • @FleurdeRoz

It is never to late to learn

  • @FleurdeRoz I've just turned 14, it sounds cliche but science completes me. I spend a lot of my time simply learning about the universe, and my curiosity hasn't once betrayed me as I learn so many amazing new things all the time. I agree though, the only reason I'm so interested in the universe is because my mother used to watch a lot of science based television, our teachers are boring and we seriously need more things like this to inspire us.

  • @GillTime True dat

  • you people can still study and contribute to science even if you couldn't get a degree back then

  • That's a badass tie he got on

  • Tyson, Cox and Porco. Sounds like a band name from the 70s!

  • Is it okay to be a fan of science and the world we live in, but not a science student? :)

  • @CoreyfromEarth same here. :) I wish I'd been a science nerd at school but I absolutely sucked at maths/physics etc. I might have been better if I'd learned but still...

  • Cox quoting Sagan: Quoteception.

  • Cox quoting Sagan: Quoteception.

  • our own little blue ocean planet

  • I have this burned to CD and rock it on my way to work every day!

  • Some years ago i was a really bad student in math and physics. Then i changed school and had to compete with more complicated math- and physic-tasks. The result: Success. Nowadays in 12th grade i love astronomy and think about studying astrophysics with astronomy. I would even do it, but somehow i am afraid of the challenge. In 2013 i will have to pick something to study.

  • @ShadowFirestormPony

You should study that which you have the most interest in. Science may not make you rich economically and it may be a thankless profession, but science is the most important field for the advancement of our species. Any scientist will tell you that even though mathematics is very important, the desire to learn is much more important. You can always learn maths, but interest and desire has to come from you. If you have it then go for it.

  • This is just the beginning of the journey for our tiny race. The prospect of discovery of a vast and beautiful expanse filled with incredible anomalies and magnificent creations brought a manly tear to my eye. Beautiful, more beautiful then all the other facets of Human discovery and innovation. YOU CAN'T BEAT SPACE.

  • sigh, why did I dropp out of school...I wish I could travel back in time and convince myself to work harder so I could have worked with astronomy....

  • @MrEliiz You never actually lose until you give up. (Mike Tyson)

  • This video was uploaded on Carl Sagan's birthday. He would have been 77. Happy birthday Carl, you will always be remembered as one of the greatest.

    Thumbs up for Carl.

  • our own little blue ocean planet <3

  • The Creator is smarter than niel and the other scientist on this combined.

  • @Andysingtoyou If there's a creator then I agree with you. But why do you seem to think that it's too daring and wrong to study the universe is beyond me.

  • @Andysingtoyou Which creator? It depends on which creator you believe in... If you believe in one.

  • @FunAssFunProductions

I assume he means Tyler: /watch?v=XSbZidsgMfw

  • Hey! whats that red spec? Ohh its the dislike bar :D

  • @tigerclaw1000

It isn't red actually. Only the white line dividing the dislikes from the likes can be seen. Tells you how good these are doesn't it.

  • These songs are so incredibly beautiful, they've touched me more than any music has in years, maybe ever have... all because of that message, that celebration of the feelings that drive our minds to think and explore

  • The most precious thing ever is hearing my 5 & 8 year old daughters sing this song.

  • @LHB73 you are a good parent. My six year old daughter loves them because we have a lot of junior astronomy books.

  • 30 ppl waiting for the mothership...

  • ...this is beautiful.

  • 1. Listens to song

    2. Listens to song with headphones

    3. Turns up the bass

    4. Makes this face- :O

  • Carl Sagan would approve.

  • When I need to escape and even alcohol doesn't work I turn the volume up, put headphones on, and listen to symphony of science.

  • 1:25 “We’re not the only world to think about it; think about it!” XD. Love how that part was edited. It really makes it seem like Neil’s urging you to think about what aliens might be thinking about.

  • Why can't there be more people like this?

We need more wonderful, wise, sensible, good people with a different perspective and an outlook on our world and humanity altogether, if we want to preserve our fragile little world for the next generations of people, both of our and other species to see, and cherish.

  • we are all star dust

  • PLUTO IS NOT A PLANET , AMERICAN BITCH :))

  • @JolfKimblee I agree with you, but videos this beautiful should have peace in the comments.

  • I hope Melodysheep realizes hes doing so much more then auto tuning videos. Hes opening up peoples minds and helping them explore there creativity. Its as almost if I sit back for the length of the video and think about the smallest to the greatest things man kind has accomplished, and how much more of the adventure we have left.

  • @bloodbrothera That's why I took the time to donate to the efforts of Symphony of Science. This is great work, and it deserves our support.

  • @aegist I'm a poor college kid but my next paycheck i'll take out the money I buy weed with and put it twords this genius. He needs it more then I need my high haha.

  • such beautiful melodies - really lift the inspirational quotes to wonderful effect. *wipes away a tear* :D

  • Symphony of Science is what keeps me sane! I find it so moving, beautiful. It personifies the spirituality of science to me. That sense of awe, grandeur and affection for humanity sweeps me away every time.

  • PLEASE KEEP ON THE GOOD WORK.......I NEED IT!!

  • i think symphony of science is my drug, im listening to "calm my nerves" before a first date.

  • Comment removed

  • @rflxtdw4 I listen to symphony of science every single day, to keep my mind scientific and skeptical, and also to appreciate the beauty of cosmos and complexity of it.

  • @rflxtdw4 How'd the date go?
