They should cross to make an X. Also, if you heat them well, they should melt the plastic and make themselves air tight.

holy crap dude your the shit!...hey, not sure if you knew, but you can get acrylic tubing for cheap...just get cast acrylic so you can drill at it...cast acrylic doesnt melt either...you can get a 2ft section of 1.5" ID (inner diameter) cast acrylic tubing for like 5 or 6 bucks...just look up either "Tubing" or "Plumbing Suplies" in the yellow pages.
