the shitty part is that even if the 15 year old testified that it was consensual, the parents can still prosecute the 17 year old. It is rediculous that kids in high school, who are inevitably going to have sex, can get registered as sex offenders for the rest of their lives because they had consensual sex with their boyfriend of girlfriend just because they are under 16.

Besides there should be no laws against sex offenders, as long as nobody is coerced or forced to something, then I have no problem with an 8 year old screwing a 40 year old, and it is the parents job to protect their kid, not the government.

No child can undertand the implications of sex at such a young age and does have an adverse effect on their psyche...you can look it up any time you want or just use common sense(I know thats impossible so I dont expect a response.)

No I don't think so. First one of the was 15.94 yrs and the other was ~17.5 yrs. that is pretty much the same age. I think there are more details to this story that we don't have, but this strikes me as "zero tolerance" mentality. It actually makes perfect sense. If the argument is that sex under a certain age is harmful, then what this 17 year old did was a crime. What real difference would it have made if she was 37 instead of 17? The act (crime) would still be the same. Either 15 is too young for sex or it isn't.
I don't know of any other crime where age difference matters unless the culprit is too young to be tried. If a 15 year old can consent to sex with a 17 year old, then they can consent with someone 37.

This is a story that is repeated in every state. The lawmakers love to show they are TOUGH on crime but never take accountability for being SMART on crime. At great expense to many lives and burden to all taxpayers, this continues. The conversations about legal sexuality should certainly start at home between families. Schools should also take responsibility for real education about the ramifications of sex. Not just disease and pregnancy. We have a channel that offers some help.
