Wow! Lon (Love?) Chaney Snr. and Bela (Belo?) Lugosi were absolute masters of their art! I remember seeing a documentary on Francis Ford Coppola's adaptation of Dracula where Gary Oldman is saying he wishes he could portray the Count in the same menacing and sinister fashion as Lugosi. Superb vid, by the way! Keep up the good work!
This video was obviously put together with love for the genre, so I got to respect that. Would love to see another version with more classic black and white gems.
This is awesome, I have almost made it a traditional to watch this right before I watch a scary movie. It sets a creepy tone. I just watched Son of Dracula tonight. This might be the best horror montage on Youtube.
When i was a kid I remenber seeing a horror movie based, on a mutant shark, that was basicly a Humanshark, but i dont remenber the name of the film, or even a record on the internet.
this gets me pumped for halloween and pretty much life.
old horror films are the best.
Thank you James, you got me into so many of them, now im a huge fan! Everything you make, all your movies, are so inspiring, Cinemassacre 200 was one of the best things ive ever seen. I started making little movies few year back, im 18 years old now, and im hoping to further my life with movie making.
It's cool to see this piece put to video. I remember thinking of using this track years ago on Halloween to go with our decorations outside, but it didn't happen, sadly.
Classic horror movies. Today's horror movies are no match for the CLASSICS. Well, there are a few exeptions, but nevermind. Anyway, a great video 5/5 !!!
correct me if I'm wrong, but did I see a few clips from Phantom of the Opera? (No, not the musical. I'm talking about either the 1925 silent film, or the 1960s version.)
Horror films today lack a certain charm. They're overdone and are packed with unneeded special effects and are too gory. Horror movies that are phsycological and horro films that make you think are the best ones.
I agree on that one, phsycological horror is way more effective than just pure gore, tho i must admit i enjoyed Braindead, even tho it was just a pile of gore.
But you are right, i can't find many good horror movies nowadays, ppl just use CG and think its enough, but they forget about the oldschool lighting effects, camera-angles etc..
great, but i fall asleep to this kind of music, i mean great video, no offense and all, i'm a guy that listens to Cannibal Corpse and stuff like that, so i'm not much of a horror movie fan, i like the once that have some dark humor in them or just something stupid, like in the movie The Mad when then zombies went MOOO instead of the usual scream or growl, i gotta admit, that was funny, but not scary, and these 30's to 70's films are not that scary when you reach the age of 12.
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. I've done another clip on some old cigarette cards of 1930's actors and actresses: Boris Karloff, Gracie Fields, Florence Desmond, Boris Karloff from The Mummy, Charles Laughton, Laurence Olivier and many more.
I love it. The long take of Dracula's coffin, then the on-the-beat cutting at 1:20, and the way you pair similar shots from different films - superb. Happy Halloween!
This is all very well done, but I don't think Raiders of the Lost Ark belongs with these movies. I know Nazis having their flesh melted off is very horrific, but it doesn't make Raiders a horror movie.
That was absolutely excellent!! Beautiful job editing...and the music was perfect! What movie was it that Peter Lorre was in? Looks like I'm missing out on some great classics!
Wonderful! I liked how you added the skeleton scene from "House on Haunted Hill" and the "White Zombie" face Bela makes. The Frankenstein cemetary (from the 1931 movie, out of ALL the Universal Monster movies) is truly awesome, and the cemetary from "House of Dracula."
Again, GREAT JOB! Don't listen to these uncultured schmucks who don't like it or don't get it. They're all pathetic jackasses!
At 2:40 is Night of the Living Dead. The other one you mentioned with the burning face is from Count Dracula but it does indeed look like House of Wax.
Can Someone list the movies shown in this montage? There are a few i don't know that looked really cool.
