the best way is to get a mini dvi to hdmi adapter u can get them off ebay pretty cheap then just a regular hdmi cable but u can get some hdmi cables with the adapter very cheap i got mine for $19 for both the adapter and cable

As far as TC, it was very hot, but you have to remember that the HD (at least the 500GB) is a server-grade one, which means it's rated to be always on. There is some debate over the 1TB model however.

You can get a mini DVI to vga adapter and then use a VGA cable to plug that into the RGB input on your TV

Yes, HDMI is for TVs but it is almost available on some computer monitors.
