I am 62 years old and was playing around with chemicals and fireworks since I was a pre-teen. I too have had some close calls with 'flashlight gunpowder', the stuff used in 'black cat firecrackers'. Very dangerous stuff, burns very hot. If this is real, and I think it was, the shirt was probably scorched instantaneously. This guy would be in pain, 2nd and 3rd deg.
