  • That was definitly not 10 seconds.

  • Just use google chrome

  • I think this is a really cool laptop although I do wish it had more like at least a wallpaper you could look at. For me, I may not need any other things then the web. Most of the time on my regular laptop, I spend time on my web browser. True, I do spend time doing other things to like, playing music on my iTunes. Although, all the disadvantages I do think this computer is pretty unique and cool.

  • Dear Google,

wouldn't it be easier if you would solve your problems normally? Just switch to Mac OS, Linux or any other OS, instead of inventing a new computer.

  • Why halt the computer?, Suspend it...

  • ...make the web... EVEN MORE FASTER O:!!

  • Good for the "web-only" people but not for the gamers, and the business people

Or in other words WE CANT USE THEM FOR OTHER THINGS --"

  • SLOW

  • @iRemco1 yup, chromebook is nothing but an fing browser!!

  • this is how to protect your privacy form google and still be fast. get a mackbook

  • I love my chromebook, true it's not the fastest, but it's minimalistic and does a lot with what little it has. And I do really enjoy having to endure a boot up time

  • @SilvermoonBlood how do u like google knowing every little thing you do on your computer???

  • @TheMsdos25 ... I don't really mind.

  • @iRemco1 It will be similar to android. In android all functionality besides calling is in the google app store. In chromebook all functionality besides web browsing is in the google app store (which will be not the the same as android but similar)

  • "and some other random stuff"

pretty good way to advertise for your new product, google.

  • Today's windows PC boot time is fast,

but Setup time is sooooo long.

    So many configuration process.

So many install software install repeat. (DVD change - install, DVD change - install, download - install, download - install) Return to environment using 20 hours! WTF

    I love cloud based OS

  • so its just a simple os, that is just Chrome, ehhhh

  • The web doesn't "just run faster". On the contrary, the web runs SLOWER on a Chromebook. MUCH SLOWER.

  • Lol at the beginning. What I do if powerup my MacBook, wait twenty seconds, click Safari as the dock appears (which takes one second), and bam, Safari is there.

  • @TheDLonYT yes but, no offense, the Safari browser is shit! :/

  • @wernvilla2 Eh, not to me. It's pretty fast and has some good features.

  • @TheDLonYT I find the Opera Browser faster and it also has a lot of good features :)

  • @wernvilla2 *shrug* That's good. :) Looks like we are both happy with our browsers!

  • No iTunes???

  • does it have/run windows word?

  • why is this on my recomendations?

  • lol

  • ohh nicee :D

  • This is hilarious

  • NO BIOS !?

    doomed to fail,

  • 0:17 short hair

    0:22 long hair

  • @ThePannekoek28 That's part of the joke.

  • Pointless, my Desktop boots from power on to opening chrome in around 15 seconds, because a) im not a moron that has 300 start up programs, you can edit startup services with CCleaner. and b) Solid state FTW.

  • Hey did anyone realize that, when the protagonist has a beard it says 8:55 a.m and then in the next scene it says 8:50 a.m. on seconds 0:17-0:20

  • Most people can pull up the web on their smart phones in under 10 seconds already..... Plus, if I wanted a faster boot time, I could configure my laptop to only start specific programs on boot. Its gonna be a hard sell if all it has is a fast boot time. Although, I guess if they keep it simple, it could be market towards people just looking for the basics in a computer...

  • With a modern UEFI BIOS and a fast harddisk, you can boot any operating system in like 10 seconds. Even Windows 7 or Mac OS.

  • This product may seem pointless, but its more directed to your parents, older people, and the "web-only" people (facebook, youtube, twitter, tumblr kind of people). This is all they really need, to them, they think desktops that cant move and laptops that are expensive to do their simple tasks is stupid. Ergo, we might not like this, but other people will.

  • @TangyLemondrop Or people like me, a young tech savvy guy who would like a mobile internet terminal... while I have a totally juiced iMac at home : )

  • @TangyLemondrop The price is this is still ridiculous for what it does..

  • @TangyLemondrop But that's also if they want something cheap that runs everything they're used to running, including Skype, Office, and anything else they or their friends might typically run on their computer.

If Google is trying to impress me, and I AM willing and wanting to run just the web, they should have damn-well put in a processor that gets me "Fast Web". And I think they changed this ad, because I don't think that punctuation was there before.

    BOOO GOOGLE!

  • @TangyLemondrop Spend the some amount of money and get a good PC. It's very easy to learn the computer...

  • So true. Its so convincing.

  • this is so dumb.

  • 16 gb ssd, That's it. Fuck that. Who uses the internet to do anything but pirate?

  • @Brotheroftheharlot Most other people with computers.

  • @Brotheroftheharlot most of your data will be on google's servers (the cloud)

  • the web is useless without a proper OS interface. thats a machine for wankers who only need a computer for twitter and fb. good luck google sellin this. no i really mean it. i love chrome... but on a proper pc.

  • You know what to Do If you want quick smoothly and boot in less than 10 seconds PC without buying a "chromium" Pc?... Unistall Windows and Put Linux or Linux distros (I recommend Ubuntu 10.10 or 11.04)

  • Every single person who is mad about this doesn't understand how the market works. Not every person needs a gaming computer. We're slowly finding out that not every person wants even a basic computer- they want something even more basic with easy access to the few things they want

  • Let's pay MORE for much less. $499.99 in Canada for one of these pieces of garbage. OR $299.99 for a 2" bigger screen, 2 GB of Ram more and a REAL FUCKING computer that actually runs everything you need.

You don't need to be a techie to know that this is absolute garbage just made to get you to spend your money.

PS i logged in just cause I felt like ranting a bit, makes me angry to see regular people being sold junk >:-(

  • You can buy a tablet for less than $100 that runs on Android and you are not tied down to something big like this or under Google's eye. And you control where your information is, and can transfer it to other devices.. I just think this idea is a little behind the market.

  • @freespeachrulez What tablet are you talking about for under 100 dollars? I'd like to know.

  • @SpecialForcie Kmart has a special right now, and I found a few on Amazon. They are running about 7in with Android 2.2. I found some on ebay too. If you want faster speed and more features the Flytouch Superpad 3 is a good one. Big Lots has a Pandigital for $70.00 that is what I got but I need to be able to use a ethernet port for work.

  • I'd rather not have you recording every key stroke I make..

  • Ohhhhh because I turn my laptop off ALL the time! Doh!

  • WASTE OF FUCKING MONEY!!!!!

HEY I WANT TO WASTE MY MONEY

    LETS BUY FUCKING CHROMEBOOK

  • Other Random Stuff?

  • Froooooooooog 10 Seconds , That long \?

  • Solution to slow startup: an SSD.

  • 500$ and now you can surf the web, gz.

  • 10 seconds? my iPad does that in 3 seconds :D

  • Comment removed

  • COOL

  • 0:09 to 0:26 is me with my pc lol

  • Can it play Call of Duty 3!?!? xD

  • my computer only takes a minute to boot up. I can open Google Chrome as soon as windows 7 logs in which takes.. 5 seconds? I can't play skyrim on this chromebook thing either.

  • Cellphone works just fine

  • Can u still use word or other Microsoft Office Applications with the Chromebook

  • best computer ever.........

  • My computer takes 20 seconds to load.

  • wow... good job. and... where's my ada programming language? can I code it on the web? XD

  • He's funny but strange wen my pc boots up and wen I work away it boots faster

  • Google, put ht tp:// in front of your links please.

  • Windows 7 boots up in 7 seconds. I'm good with my PC

  • So I cant use Firefox on it..... lol

  • does anyone think this guy looks like @whiteboy7thst

  • 10 sec boot...wow that almos as fast as my iMac Lion with SSD!

  • @rsfeller By admitting you own a mac, and actually bragging about it, you gave up your right to an opinion.

  • You know what's funny, I don't even turn off my computer so I don't actually have to wait all that time.

  • @animusic123 ipad is not this fast lolol. They don't even have flash

  • @keefachu Give it time my friend...the world is going to HTML and leaving Flash behind...only infrequently do I need Flash on my ipad...

  • isn't this just like a ipad or any other tablet without the touch screen thumbs up?

  • now let download firefox !

  • يعني راح يصير مافيس خصوصية .. والتهكير أسهل

  • wow my pc boots in 29seconds i get in the internet in .58 sec.

BY the way i use Mozilla not chrome :D

  • 8 seconds?really???My Pc boots in 30 secs,its not like I can't wait.

  • wait, so... After you turn it on and log in all you see

is Google Chrome? If so i don't like that.

I love this idea it's self but the fact other

apps or shit on your laptop/notebook is really bs to me :(.

Love ya Google but ya'll fucked up on dis one~.

  • Man hmm how good is it with games.....

  • @Zashey5 Internet games?

  • @Ninjabanana19 No not internet games (or Browser's) Online games Like Mmorpg stuff were u have to download and install

  • Wauw zo snel heb ik het nog nooit gezien.

  • Do they think im an idiot? all the problems described can be fixed by not being one and cleaning your startup folder....my desktop goes from no power to ready to use in about 17 seconds....omg 17 seconnds im gonna kill myself...firstworldissues.

  • @bozbat3

Thats really quick tho, Im on a gd computer and it takes 25 seconds to boot, however when I am in windows I can instantly do stuff. (no apps take up enough load time to be noticeable). Ofc if I'd hybernate my pc Id be online within 10 seconds.

  • A little on the pricey side for a netbook.

  • After watching these videos, I really want to punch the guy thats speaking now.

  • WORTHLESS.

Show it on an actual chromebook, instead of showing some lame animation that doesn't prove anything.

Also, when I turn on my laptop, it's ready in about 2 seconds. I don't turn it off, but just close it and let it go to standby.

I just don't see any significant reason to use a chromebook yet.

  • bullshit

  • Who the fuck would buy a PC just for the internet? That's retarded.

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX It's a NETbook...

  • @dnbmania ok let me rephrase that. Who the FUCK would buy a Laptop just for the internet?

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX Well it's probably the thing people spend most of their time on. Especially young'uns on facebook or youtube.

  • @dnbmania Yeah I spend a lot of time on the internet too but having a computer that can only run the internet and not much else would just make me feel...naked. Its like getting heavy steel armor for the upper part of your body then putting on a pair of leather chaps for the rest. It makes no sense!

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX You can actually do a lot with the app's on there. I wouldn't personally buy it because for that price, your could get a proper laptop. If it were cheap (<£200) then it's a nice option for the house. And to your metaphor, leather armour would be lighter than steel, which may SUIT THE JOB AT HAND. :P

  • @dnbmania hahaha touche xD

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX aolt of people especially businesses or schools...

  • @Officialshit1 Wrong, schools and businesses need other programs to be educated.

  • @rightfight100 Except in schools all you really need is word/spreadsheet/presentation processing and those are available on the "Cloud"/Skydrive/Apps for Chrome. And it probably won't be long before businesses get their bespoke software created a Chrome App. It's not a media suite... it won't replace PCs for creating circuit diagrams and film editing. At least, not for a while.

  • @3mptyLord No, I was talking about what the guy stated. He stated "Who the fuck would buy a PC just for the internet?" He wasn't talking about no apps, or document apps, he was talking about a PC with the purpose of the internet, and the only the internet.

  • @Officialshit1 this is a stupid idea...they cost as much as a laptop and only have internet access. A business has very little need for something that only goes on the internet and neither do schools. We all have phones and a lot of us have tablets and notebooks that also wake from sleep instantly =/ . This just proves that you cant put google on anything and know it will be good. Something like this shouldnt cost more then 100$.

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX I get fed up when I have to get to something ASAP! and I have to wait... and wait... and wait... THEN get on the internet. This has fast wake up and instant internet acess and it obviously has more feature then just fast wake up and browser speeds.

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX its not a pc its a chromebook :o

  • @TheDemonicHeretic Oh its not a Personal Computer? You're a fucking idiot

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX why do u think they call macs macs and not pcs? its because its a brand name and of course a computer that u buy for urself is personal

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX It's not a pc.

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX Not really. While it lacks the sort of offline stuff that computers can do, there are probably online tools (somewhere) that let you do all of that stuff anyways.

  • @EmperorHeresy Yeah then why would you buy something that lacks features, and keep searching for online tools for simple tasks?

  • @a1ananth The appeal of a quick start-up plus a device like this which has 3g could be very appealing. Or if your work is almost totally online and you have no need for online type applications than there's your market.

  • @XxToHellAndBackxX Many people.

  • Also by using this. You're giving Google unrestricted acces to all your shit. Yes even that wierd asian foot scat snuff fetish.

  • Dang!!!! I had the hardest time selling mine from Google IO! I didn't realize that nobody wants them.

  • nice toy for light users who only brows facebook and email, but for power users it's going to be a flimsy computer

  • @rogan2134 it's not being marketed as a desktop replacement or a power laptop. But it can fill some functions of a higher powered computer, like typing documents, and working with spreadsheets (through google documents) or administering your website, etc.

your online content cloud is what drove netbook popularity. This is essentially a better netbook. Worth the extra money? Hell, it's cheaper than the motorola xoom or ipad 2, PLUS it comes with 200 MB/mo 3G from verizon. Get THAT with your Ipad!

  • @d3ejmz if it's not meant to replace a power laptop, i wouldn't want to carry around the laptop AND the "better netbook". although i agree about it being cheaper/better than the mentioned products, but it doesn't take much to beat an ipad

  • So, I can wake up and watch porn in only 8 seconds O.O...

  • i think i will pass on this, for 70 bucks more i just bought a dual core 3.1GHZ with 8 gigs or 1333mghz ram and a 450 watt psu and a Nvidia GT430 Graphics card and it can play just about anything but COD Black Ops and other games that require a quad core processor. So no thanks on this pos.

  • I'm watching this and I am on teh interwebz already without a Chromebook. MAH!

  • @MattIntellectual Your computer doesn't max out 4 GB, your motherboard does. Judging by your computer model, it sounds like a laptop. I honestly have no idea how to change a motherboard out of a laptop, but if you get that done, change the motherboard, and you will be able to add more. I would recommend getting a desktop, and adding whatever you want inside it. You can build an amazing desktop if you have $600 to spare. If not, just buy and Alienware laptop. I hope my advice helped you. :)

  • @yandirtty21 god don't tell him to buy alienware, they're overpriced as fuck. shop around for something better

  • expensive to pay so much for a laptop that can only goes fast on the internet...

  • this reminds me of the easy to use cellphone the one with big numbers and calling and thats it

  • Lol! My 4 year old Mac book pro boots and loads chrome in only 16 seconds!

  • Windows 8 boots up in 6 to 8 seconds. The 6 and 7 mark is mostly a very rare exception but I wonder how long that quick boot will last as PCs get very slow booting up over time. I really wished Chrome OS was tablet optimized.

  • I especially like how it goes 8:55am whilst the unnecessary programs start up, and yet it actually loads the web browser at 8:50am. Hmm...

  • Looks pretty good on my iPad. And loads almost as fast.

  • (Whispers) Fast.Web. lol

  • My Windows laptop takes 50 sec to start to desktop. That's fast enough for me

  • That's why you don't turn off your computer, and you disable startup programs.

  • @yandirtty21

yeah, after a year it will break

  • @yandirtty21 Not everyone is rich like you, to leave the computer on all the time, and to replace a computer every 5 years because it wears out the components. Plus it gets slower the longer you leave it on.

  • @miketh2005 Desktop computers are built to remain on daily. I have had a computer for 10 years straight basically. If you have 12 gb of Ram like me, you don't even notice a speed change.

  • @yandirtty21 12GB RAM? That's really overdoing it, dude. No game needs that much. :P

  • @miketh2005 I don't play games :P I just like speed.

  • @yandirtty21 You much be rich, then, because you just wasted your money. You don't need anymore than 4GB for non-gaming. RAM is only for running multiple programs at once. With 4GB you can have, like 500 browsers open with no slow-down.

  • @miketh2005 Money has nothing to do with it. It costed me $87 for the 12GB upgrade. You don't have to be rich to own any kind of computer. I have 12 GB of Ram so I never have to worry about slow speeds. 4 GBs is nothing, that is considered standard nowadays. I do everything on my computer except gaming. I love speed, so I utilize everything I can get my hands on. You should try it.

  • @yandirtty21 You're still not getting it. Like I said before, RAM is for running multiple programs at once. If you are not playing games, you don't need all that RAM. It's the PROCESSOR that makes things speedy. What processor do you have? Anyway, I've never heard of a 15 year old male in the USA that doesn't play video games, unless they are gay (no offense, just sayin), or Amish, lol. I know of a kid who lives on the streets and still plays video games at Gamestop every so often. :P

  • @miketh2005 I have a AMD Phenom II x6 Core. The CPU of the system is the "brain" of the computer. The more Ghz = The faster the computer can perform tasks. RAM is also integrated with speed. I play video games on my Xbox. Computer games suck. I know what I'm talking about. I run a business where I build and sell computers. The more RAM you have = how much temporary memory your computer can handle at once.

  • @yandirtty21 Exactly. That's what I was telling you. :P Computer games don't suck, you just aren't playing the right ones. Computers are the ULTIMATE gaming machines and consoles are just holding gaming back. It's a great disturbance to the video game industry. We could have 10x more realistic graphics than we have now.

  • Comment removed

  • @miketh2005 some people work more than play...or maybe go out and do something good for someone aside from creating jobs for game creators...what good comes out of you playing video games except for your own personal pleasure....ever wonder why morals are sinking...profanity is accepted...violence is part of everyday life.....unless you are playing a "G" rated game......you are part of the problem
