  • SundiMundi...your opinion is your own and respected...but...if I thought about things the way he does I would never get anything accomplished...he has waited so long for his so called good script that hollywood has pretty much wrote him off...and that upsets me....what a waste of tallent... micks a good guy... but he can do better...he just chooses not to

  • WHAT is with his fingernails???

  • Sweet fancy Moses, Rourke should be the poster-boy for bad plastic surgery! Man, his face looks like a clumsy post-auto-wreck reconstruction. He's a good actor, but man alive, he looks nightmarish... Hollywood's answer to Freddy Kruger. Poor bastard.

  • this guy is so full of shit...he is a good actor but a job is a job...actors are people that get paid to be somthing that there not ...and paid very well ....waiting around for the right script ?....for what they pay you?...NOT BUYING IT MICKEY....your work is what you make of it ...stop bitching like a little girl and get back to work...and count your blessings

  • @bozo47p

Not everyone shares the same mind state as you. Everyone is different. You have a certain view of things and he has his. I don't agree with you, but I do understand where you're coming from.

  • I really like him. Even though he looks rough, he seems so nice.

  • @TheCarlScharnberg he is genuine just been through shit with his family

  • @tamerswan Are you following me ?

  • notice how he touches his face. He probably pinpoints the exact times of his feelings with his hands to actually bring feeling back to it. Im sure botox woulddnt last a million years

  • @Scooterskiff I'm sure with 5 more minute you could have actually typed something people could understand. I have NO IDEA what you were trying to say.........

  • He was robbed. Totally should have won for this movie. Sean Penn is great, but it was Mickey's year. So bummed.

  • @PhantomDrums917 Yeah I agree who cared about Penns role? with due respect to Penn it was defo Mickeys time and they enjoyed taking it away, exposing themselves in the process. Rourke Victorious no matter..

  • He WAS a great actor until he took up boxing. He LOOKS like a fucking truck ran over his FACE.

  • @Andrewlohbihler he looks aalmost normal to me

  • @internalpeaceseeker After 15 face surgeries anyone can LOOK normal stupid. Most people believe that Michael Jackson only HAD two nose surgeries.

  • @tamerswan HA HA I'm and avid dancer ,I know woman :) ball room latin styles

  • @tamerswan The way to a women's heart is making her smile :)

  • @tamerswan OK maybe not a complete fruit but probably bats with both hands :)

  • @tamerswan Looks like one usually a fruity fruit cup also called Fenokio lol

  • MOTHERFUCKING RANDY THE RAM

  • is Michael Jackson's big brother?

  • "Somethin's gonna shake rattle and roll" Haha awesome

  • TIME is meant for POLITICIANS!!! Not Actors. Stop interviewing stars. Its awkward.

  • I think that loosing his looks has caused him to grow as a person.

  • TIME IS SUCH A SHIT MAGAZINE!!!!!!!!!

  • i konow he had a lot of surgery some corrective but if he just didnt have his lips done i think he wuda looked mint in his later years

  • Love the edgar allen look you fruit you"

  • he was great in the Wrestler - but Milk was a better movie

he says he will next play welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas in a biopic - the movie will focus on Thomas's personal life as a gay man trying to deal with his sexuality within the confines of the very homophobic world of sport -

it is an interesting role to choose & whatever about his efforts & training for the Wrestler this movie will push him further - check vids of Thomas on UT -

  • Love him................fantastic :)

  • lol...."talking about the comback" he's got a great sence of humor

  • @alwaysopen thats a cute set of words you got there. maybe you should look past your arrogant stereotype you created for him and watch some of his work i really enjoy him as an actor and i hate a lot of things

  • @omghai2u

    To each his own, no?

  • @alwaysopen certainly, have fun

  • Truman Capote Gay brother LOL

  • But he looked great when his career took off in '82-'83 with Diner and Rumble Fish..And wasn't he already 37 or something then? Surely he didn't start boxing after having become a famous actor? Just asking..: )

  • Mickey love the Truman Capote look you Finochio fruit

  • weltkaputtmacher

  • He did a perfect, flawless job with The Wrestler; heart breaking. Iron Man 2 was all his - no other person left any impression.

  • I love how humble he is and how he admits everything. he's very down to earth

  • He's such a boss

  • Mickey Rourkes diet: MURDER

  • He's awesome but skin is too smooth. Freaky freaky surgery! And he can't move his mouth properly! Silly Hollywood thinking that is better than old age.

  • @EatMeBeatMeGirl most of his surgery is do to boxing injuries, the rest is to make the injurie surgery not look to bad.

  • He's playind Van

  • lookin good mick

  • Wild Irish Boy

  • Mickey who the fuck is dressing you ? Mick your a NewYorker now ,carry yourself like one !

  • he always looks weird an dhas weird roles thats why i love him xxx

  • Year of the Dragon is one of the best Mob Movies ever...hardly seen...

  • he is great :)

  • when he said "shake, rattle, and roll" shivers went down my spine

  • MONSTER AND PATHETIC ROURKE.

  • @wagsouza Hey, FUCK YOU! The only person that is pathetic is the one making lame comments.

  • @FoshizzoRizzo FUCK YOU BIG SUCKER !!!

    COCK IN YOUR ASS !!!

  • Dad?

  • secretly, as a heterosexual male, i wish it would become more socially acceptable or "mainstream" for guys to get manicures.

  • Man has he been around the block. Glad he's back.

  • You've got to swallow what you eat!!! Now that's a lesson in life!!!!

  • It sucks that i had the squirts while watching this... But Mickey still manages too inspire me even though im on the can fighting for my life... or atleast fighting for my asshole that burns like hell now

  • @Loyalty1269 Hahahahaha! Good one.

  • If I did movies with Kim Bassinger and Carrie Otis, Id have to retire for awhile too.

  • I LOVE TIME DOT COM...THE BEST INTERVIEW PERIOD..ALL THE INTERVIEWS THEY'VE DONE HAVE BEEN TOP NOTCH

  • Mick,you are a champion,God bless.

  • está guapísimo!

  • macca 969 in lancashire England asks if she asked politely with respect would you give Angelina Jolie her lips back

  • @maca969 and though the holes were rather small, they had to count them all. now they know how many holes it takes to fill the albit hole.

  • ♥ love mickey

  • @TheGatorfan93 Who did he insult? What dead man? Not to be a dick, but who did he badmouth? Did I miss something?

  • why do they have to have most dumbass interviewers??....it just cheapen the whole ordeal. mickey is the man. you can't have some stupid twit interviewing the man!

  • i watch any movie Mickey Rourke is in - he is the best actor because he plays his parts as if he is actually that person in that role - he brings it from within & that is why he is so good !

  • i think mickey has grown a lot as a person as an actor and he came back and delivered an awesome performance that no one can take away from under his belt and im pretty sure he knows and thats what i think counts the most. it would have been so nice though if he could have won the oscar with all hes been thru and being able to bring so much of his personal life to this performance and still have it turn out and be good. i dont think its over for mick though. theyll see.

  • Fuck, what a horrible reporter for Time magazine

  • He was so gorgeous and he's not so much now...but, he's still hot!!

  • I'm sure one of the things he regrets most is the plastic surgery. The glasses, the make-up, the nervous way he touches his face, adjusts things, etc. It's a classic appearance of physical insecurity, and it's really, really sad, b/c you can tell that, as a person, and on the inside, he is a great and well-developed person. He's had a lot of bumps and learned from them greatly.

And yet, it would be nearly impossible not to feel self conscious about the surgery results. :(

  • He's a great actor....the Wrestler was so fuking depressing....but it was a kick ass great move.

  • Mickey Rourke is a deadbeat son. His mother is in a nursing home and he never visits her.

  • @urna55 I'd believe that. I haven't hear him really talk about his mother. I do get the impressions from the few things he has said that his mother kind of sat back and let him get abused by his step-father.

  • @urna55 tbh his mum let him and his brother taking beatinsg from his step dad and did fuck all about it.

  • So handsome!!!

  • Totally fucking agree SEANDEYOUNG01

  • He looks exactly like mexican stylist Alfredo Palacios, kinda monster

  • What the fuck? He "came back" with Sin City.

  • What the fuck Mickey ? You big sissy mary You !

  • RAM JAM!

  • Nice handkerchief Mickey !!!! My guy

  • He totally deserved Oscar.

  • Im spanish and not very aware of US showbizz, but this guy looks to have passed through a rough time and learned from it and become a great person, congratulations for him

  • @wakomax Watch ''inside actor's studio'' and find the episode of mickey rourke, i think its on youtube, he explains why he did the things he did, drugdealing, the near suicide, the gult because his brother took his life, the gult of the fact that he couldnt protect his brother from their father, because their father usually beat his brother, ETC----alot of dark stuff anyway look it up ''inside actors mickey rourke''

  • The only reason Sean Penn won the Oscar over Mickey's performance is because the Academy was scared to piss off the gay community like they did when they awarded Crash Best Picture years earlier. Harvey Milk is a respected figure in the gay community. The Oscars are too political.

As long as fans know that Mickey was the better man that year, that's what really counts.

  • yes, the Academy has political criteria also, but we cant say that because sean penn make the roll of his life there acording to most critics

  • what did he do to "throw it all away"?

  • Mickey you are increible man!

  • I didn't know who he was before "the Wrestler", but now I think he's awsome, not just as an actor, but as a person. He is a good person and loves dogs.

  • you didn't know who he was? he was very famous in the late 80s and was in many movies in the nienties but if you're not above 27, i don't think you can remember

  • I know who he is now. I am over 27, I just never watched much TV or movies, I guess.

  • @ParadiseOnLand perhaps you should watch "9 1/2 Weeks" and/or "Wild Orchid." He's f'in gorgeous in both those movies ... not to say he's not attractive now, but in those previous movies, his looks were, shall I say, more chiseled, less rugged.

  • His honesty is refreshing! A good, good man.

  • A person.

    Hat off to you.

  • I'd like to see him do the Barfly movie now it was good but I think he would do it 10x better now. He was a bit of a punk when he did it in the 80's.

  • He's keepin it real sort of. I hope he doesn't get a DWI. Nice to see him back. Chicken Soup for the Actor

  • number 100 cemment

  • He definitely should have won the Oscar. I think I have watched this movie 6 times in the last week and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that a person could criticize about his performance. He played the character perfectly.

  • @seandeyoung01 He should have but the Oscars are fixed. Its all a popularity contest

  • @seandeyoung01 The Academy Awards its about selling and popularity, thats why.

On the other hand he won a BAFTA award, that's a really good one

  • @seandeyoung01 But I think Sean Penn in Milk was Amazing, plus the message of the movie was bigger. I think what makes a performance excellent is the transformation of an actor for the role, and Sean Penn was completely transformed to the opposite of what he is in reality when he did Milk. Is like is was actually the original Harvey Milk not Sean Penn acting as a gay person.

  • @mercuriopr Sean Penn in Milk was gay, pun intended, ha :D

  • @mercuriopr I agree. I love Mickey Rourke and wanted him to win the Oscar, but Sean Penn was just as deserving.

  • @seandeyoung01

    mickey rules !!!

  • @seandeyoung01 Sean Penn's performance certainly didn't upstage Rourke's interpretation, I agree

  • On my Holiday in the US I saw him in New York, and I was surprised how healthy and good he looked. Oh, and my 25 year old Girlfriend did not stop talking about him for the Rest of the day... ;)

  • aww lol thats funny

  • in barfly-mickey and barman eddie-good game,masters

  • Watch Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man and you'll see that Mick has spent a lot of, (too much) money on his face....

  • bullet and lester-best movie duet, and his old brother and captain crunch of course).thank you mickey, you got a gift.genius

  • "you gotta swallow what you eat..." epic words.

  • He should have won that Oscar!!!

  • i havent watched The Wrestler, but I like him in 9 1/2 weeks a lot, where he doesnt have lip implants, and is just sooo hot

  • Great actor, honest charismatic man.

  • He was so fantastic in The Wrestler. I don't care what anyone says, he deserved the Oscar.

  • great honesty Mickey, Love you. You have

found yourself thank God. Continue on

the straight and narrow path of your

acting. You need to know that you are

a great actor!! Please don't overextend yourself money wise, save thed $, please.

  • "The Wrestler" blew me away. I've watched thousands of movies but I've never seen a performance that was so accomplished on so many levels - physical and emotional. After I saw Rourke in "Sin City" I realized he had more charisma and talent than any other actor out there, but I still wasn't prepared for "The Wrestler". Thank God ,Rourke had a chance to show what he can do and that an audience can see him as sympathetic. He's probably now the most sympathetic actor alive - and the most edgy.

  • agreed, watched the wrestler a few weeks ago, very emotionally responding...fantastic movie, just found it lying around at home and chucked it on, great move

  • best american artist,He and Christopher Walking

  • Christopher Walken, Reptile ......

  • Like he said in the interview, the reason he was so good in the Wrestler was because he related to the character so much. He should've recieved the Oscar.

  • he is an underrated actor. I totally like his style of acting . its like a unique fingerprignt

  • If they had a category for heartfelt performances, he should have been the shoe-in for 2008. Sean Penn was great, but I thought that Oscar belonged to Mickey Rourke. Reasonable minds can disagree.

  • Pockennorben

  • his face look like clay

  • What a badass.

  • He is the Badass.

  • Love mickey. 'The Wrestler' was not his best movie but he has plenty of them under his belt. Good to see him back! I also loved him and Faye Dunaway in 'Barfly" awesome, sad movie.

    Love ya Mickey!

  • which one do you think is better than "The Wrestler"? Domino, Sin City, Get Carter or other minor ones?

I thought, that in "The Wrestler" he really showed off a good variety of acting skills, more than in any other movie. and he himself said that it was one of the hardest movies he ever did, character-wise.

dunno what your favs are, character movies or action movies...

  • i liked him in the bar fly

  • Love his clothes.

  • his new film kill shot or whatever, the one where he plays an indian is really good go see it everyone

  • i love that crazy shirt!!!

  • I think Alion stateman did a pretty good job interviewing him.

  • I met Mickey Rourke about 5 years ago in a resturant on the Sunset Strip. He was so nice, so gracious, even as I was acting like a fool, gushing about how great he was. What a class act. I've been a fan for 25 years and shit, I always will be.

  • The guy is plain fantastic.

  • i was intrested to see this after seeing the van morrison one, going to me more

  • thanks for the post ...nice to see a decent interview great work ..great guy...nicely said makia!!...mickey's bad ass ....hes an inspiration in all kinda of ways...cheerz mickey!

  • he's an old lion, but always lion..

  • how did you know he is a lion??

  • He should have gotten the oscar instead of Sean Penn..his performance was a lot better.

  • I have been a wrestling fan for close to 26 years and he plays a independant pro wrestler to a T. Well done to Mickey.

  • mickey rourke iz a great actor ! i juz watched the movie " BULLET" for the 50th time wit rourke n tupac def one of my favorites

  • hes a great actor like rober downey jr,the comebacks for these greatest actors

  • i have nothing against therapy but i know for srue and each and every individual has the ability to change themselves....in some cases take help from someone close .....anyways i think therapy is overrated its not that important even if you really think u need it

  • I just think Mickey is incredibly sexy!

    What a Man!

  • i do to^^

  • Incredibly sexy ??? He looks like he's 90 yo, and dude this wig...

  • He was a pretty good looking guy in 80s/early 90s, but he looks like hell now haha. Plastic surgery, mang

  • all dem drugs man

  • if you haven't seen it, try to find '9 1/2 weeks'. that was mickey in his heyday. so sexy.

  • he's such a MAN!

i saw 'sin city' first and then i watched 'spun' and i could only reckognize him by his voice. such an individual actor and i love his style.

  • I like Mickey Rourke.

The first movie of his I ever saw was Rumble Fish then I saw Sin City. Couldn't believe he was the same guy.

My mom was surprised that I liked him, not that she hated him or anything. That was around the time when the Wrestler was about to come out.

I also share his prior feelings on wrestling and the movie gave me new respect for them as well and for Mickey as an actor.

  • I admire Mickey he is the best actor ever and i like hes personality. gl. Mickey

  • It's easy to root for this guy and I am.

  • I never gave Mickey Rourke a second thought until I saw "The Wrestler."Now I have a great deal of respect for him. I admire his talent and I'm glad he found his way back from oblivion. Good job, Mickey.

  • mickey wears really funky clothes :)
