Beer Review: Sam Adams Octoberfest

This is a beer if I had the money I would have on tap at home, along with Guinness, Budweiser, maybe New Castle, Highland Black Mocha Stout. Perhaps Blue Moon for a wheat beer, and Coke. (The white, not the brown)

Since I had the chance to visit the Sam Adams brewery last August in Boston I've been trying all their brews I can. I've always loved Octoberfest but I think I've found my new favorite. Samuel Adams Black Lager. Love it!

listen bro... its a seperate beer my man called pumkin ale.... and i think it has pumkin in it lol just solid fuckin pumkin... but listen man, don't be affraid to drink a beer just under room tempiture(in winter) cuz the warmer your brew is... the more the aroma come out-get your temp just right but play around with it. Not trying to be a snob I'll drink Malt Liquor and PBR if it is availibale but every steakhouse or burger place I go to says this is "the best beer they've ever had" (In my head I think you need to try more beers)". But this is like the beer favorite of beer drinkers who want to be a beer snob. I'm not a beer snob by the way by any stretch of the means. But if I'm spending 10 bucks on a 6 pack I could find much better choices.

Octoberfest is definately one of my favorites, considering sam adams is so far my favorite beer company, but if you're looking for a pumpkin taste you should try Blue Moon's 'Harvest Moon'. It's a fall festival and I think you should enjoy it. You should put in a review for it. But, I actually have a request for you. Sam Adams Winter Lager and their winter seasonals are coming out in November. Would you mind reviewing their 'Old Fezziwig Ale?

Sam Adams Oktoberfest is garbage, I recomment Hacker-Pscorr, Ayinger Oktoberfest, and Paulaner Oktoberfest as alternatives

This beer is great. It's a shame that it's seasonal, though. A good comparison to this beer in my opinion is actually a beer that isn't labeled as a pumpkin ale, which is Newcastle. Similar color, smaller head just like Sam Adams, although it has much more lacing. I am not sure if you've reviewed it or not, but you should try and get the Guinness from the "Take home tap" that they make.

1) Octoberfest: I don't understadn why they don't brew that stuff year around. stuff is better than sex

2) Cherry Wheat: I am not big on fruit beers but thos an exception. the fruity aspect is not over whelming. There is just the right blend

3) Boston Ale: Boston lager is good I think this one is better

and btw i have had a bad sam adams. actually probably the worst beer ive ever drank. ive had some cheap beers like Milwaukee's best light and it was better than sam adams cherry wheat. JUST AWFUL. i mean ive never had problems at least choking down a beer if its bad but this one i was struggling. me and my buddy did finish but it is just horrible. but im glad to find your vids you seem like a good dude, would like to drink some beers with you sometime. btw love sam adams just not that one

hey man i like to drink me some beers. had around 100 different kinds of beers and you need to try schlafly, either, oktoberfest or unfiltered wheat. its brewed out of st louis and thats where i got it when i visited. dont know if you can have access to it but if you can on of the best brews ive ever had. i think its a micro brewery. i live a state a way so cant get it very often but it is this shit. if you can get some do a review you will be impressed. try to see if you can get it shipped!!

Nice review! This is my second favorite Sam Adams seasonal (Winter Lager being my personal favorite). I'm also glad you mentioned the pinky thing. Swirling your beer like that at a bar generates an anti-woman force field around you.  Many men are not aware of this.

I believe the hoppy flavor everyone is crazy about got over ratted. The strong hops in an IPA was by accident. During England's occupancy of India England would send beer to the troops. The beer was spoiling on transport and the remedy was extra hops to preserve the beer. The test of a good beer is if it taste good both cold and room temp. Keep on truckin.

Fun review! Personally, I think Samuel Adams gets a little lazy with their seasonal brews. It just feels like they throw a product together for every season, and the beer doesn't always fit the season. However, Samuel Adams Black Lager is a damn good beer--their best (apart from their fancy limited edition stuff). I would highly recommend the Black Lager if you're a Samuel Adams man! Look forward to more reviews! More from Rogue, Great Lakes, and Three Floyds breweries, please!
