The UK does it itself, it is also the UK that wants to get rid of the Commmon Agricultural Policy and wants to reduce funding all over, except in Banking, retailing and the service economy. Now I think it may wake up that killing domestic industry wa not so good after all (Germany has not). Brussels, on this, is not to blame. The EU comptition policy does come from UK practice by the way.

I found this video just by typing in Hops as I'm a home brewer, and bloody good at it. The EU wants to disassemble the Uk to a country producing absolutely nothing.

The funding was withdrawn by DEFRA. It considered that the hop industry had become too small.
