People sent him more than $500, which he kept for himself, because some of the donators said they wanted to give it to him personally. If they wanted to donate the money to charity, they might as well do it by themselves.
i'm not sure if he donated to the hospital, but that doesn't matter... he donated to charity, just like he said he would. he figured out later that he couldn't donate to the hospital because atheists and muslims are after him

On May 14th 2009 you win the Idiot of the day Award. Congratulations! You see its not up to anyone to accept or decline the "agreement". Once you use a charitable donations name to collect money you are obliged to that organization. It is not up to you or the person donating what is to be done with the money. You are contracted to donate the money. Only the organization can decline the money.
if he says he's going to donate all the money over $500 to charity, and puts it on youtube to thousands of viewers, that is effectively equivalent to signing a contract.
If multiple people pay him money, and SOME tell him to keep it, that's not good enough. by keeping it, he's breaking that contract with all the other people who believed part of their money was going to a hospital. It's still dishonest.

Man $500/month? Why is he making a car payment like that? When I was just out of college, I bought a 13 year old Honda Civic that had 260,000 miles on it, but was good enough to get around. I paid $600 for it.

If he used his family's accountant, that accountant still isn't obligated to tell the family, since Shawn is a separate client.

He took one part of the message and I am still skeptical of whether or not that was a quote-mine, since he abridged it and didn't link viewers to the original message.
Finally, it's easy to find out where VenomFangX lives. Even I know where he lives, and his real name. It took me all of five minutes to find him. He gives various information on the appearance of his house, a first name, and he lives in Canada. There's even a video where his full name is mentioned wherein he takes part as one in a group of singers. Finding VenomFangX is extremely easy.
I thank all people on here for their work in exposing venomfangx and i, as a muslim, would like to tell you i doubt very much he had threats from muslims.

If you collect donations here by saying "It will be donated to xxx" you are legally bound to donate it to the named caused or a similar cause
The maximum amount you are allowed to take out of it is the expenses the DONATION needed (like flyers etc)

It's hard to say what's up, but I lean toward VFX being investigated for larceny/embezzlement/fraud and that on his lawyer's advice he deleted his youtube profile and website so that he can erase his self-incriminating vids, statements & logs of same. To save face he made up the death threats as an excuse to wipe all that out.
If his parents had started pushing him out of the nest, I wouldn't be surprised if he wrote a fake threat letter himself, as a way to get more sympathy and $ from them.

VenomFangX didn't steal from anyone. He showed in a video that he donated $500 to charity. People sent him more than $500, which he kept for himself, because some of the donators said they wanted to give it to him personally. If they wanted to donate the money to charity, they might as well do it by themselves.

I think the point was that VFX donated $500 to charity, whereas he initially said that he would keept the first $500 for expenses, and donate *everything above that*.
Apparently, don't ask me how this was found out, he started receiving thousands on is first month - and decided to keep all of it. He then made a big show of donating $500 as if that was his original promise.
He then donated to charity freely - after making people accept an agreement that he could keep the money if he wanted to.

Hi cfytcf, initially he threw out a suggestion to his subscribers. A suggestion. When they took it and ran with it his plan changed too - naturally. It was NEVER in stone. And he later made no one accept any agreement either. He just assumed, correctly, that people giving him a lot more than $1 didn't want most of it just going to charity.
The problem is that many people are cutting and pasting pieces of what he said, and countless other things are left out that would give the truthful picture.

That is outright wrong, and you have now revealled your bias toward VFX, whilst lambasting those who you believe are not being factually correct.
I have SEEN more than one email he has sent to donators EXPLICITLY SAYING that they should agree to give him permission to either select his own charity to donate to or keep the money for his own uses.
His own fans were so shocked at this that they showed the messages in vids. Get your facts in order before decrying that very same failing in others.

Once you use a charitable donations name to collect money you are obliged to that organization. It is not up to you or the person donating what is to be done with the money. You are contracted to donate the money. Only the organization can decline the money.

But it's not that simple.
if he says he's going to donate all the money over $500 to charity, and puts it on youtube to thousands of viewers, that is effectively equivalent to signing a contract.
If multiple people pay him money, and SOME tell him to keep it, that's not good enough. by keeping it, he's breaking that contract with all the other people who believed part of their money was going to a hospital. It's still dishonest.

Man $500/month? Why is he making a car payment like that? When I was just out of college, I bought a 13 year old Honda Civic that had 260,000 miles on it, but was good enough to get around. I paid $600 for it.
Why doesn't he do that? Get a junker for about $1000. That's two months if you are getting $500/month. Then after two months, he could start donating $500/month to the hospital.

The point is that he was not donating to said charities that he promised to donate to.
If he used his family's accountant, that accountant still isn't obligated to tell the family, since Shawn is a separate client.
I can see where you are going with the father thing, that should be clarified/investigated.
He took one part of the message and I am still skeptical of whether or not that was a quote-mine, since he abridged it and didn't link viewers to the original message.

Finally, it's easy to find out where VenomFangX lives. Even I know where he lives, and his real name. It took me all of five minutes to find him. He gives various information on the appearance of his house, a first name, and he lives in Canada. There's even a video where his full name is mentioned wherein he takes part as one in a group of singers. Finding VenomFangX is extremely easy.
