She looks so bad because she would die just two years later. Very sad. She had an angelic voice. And she seemed so real and down to earth. God rest her soul
I just can't understand how someone looking at her couldn't see she looked absolutely sickly. I understand it was an earlier time and anorexia wasn't really known then. But c'mon!! She looks like a skeleton. This poor woman never stood a chance. This is soo sad to watch
@pajamagirl123 Everyone knew there was something wrong with her. Richard, her parents, and the media often confronted her about her health. Unfortunately, she was in such denial it took a while for her to realize it and seek treatment which wasn't til '81-'82. It is believed the treatment itself is what killed her. Supposedly, she gained weight too fast it strained her weakened heart. If things were a done a bit differently, maybe she would've made it.
@2Kriss2Kross That makes me even more sad :( My friends don't know who the hell the Carpenters are so the only people I find myself talking to about her are my teachers. I feel like her story needs to constantly be told so this generation of girls can hear it. It shouldn't be relegated to rock countdown shows. EVERY girl should know who Karen Carpenter is and what she suffered from! (I'm a child psych major so excuse the rant)
@pajamagirl123 I agree and I know how you feel. My mom is the only one I talk to about them and my younger sister is slowly starting to like them. Karen's story needs to be told more.
I love Karen but this video is painful for me to watch. Her appearence is so distracting. She is frighteningly thin here. Gosh, anorexia is such a terrible disease. She looks like a skeleton here and looks so much older than someone in their early 30's due to the disease. Great song, but it's hard for me to watch this video.
The legacy, lives on to all Carpenter fans all over the world. Karen, looked happy in that video but, I believe that she was going through treatment at the time. Karen, we missed you!
