  • @JMM629 As my comment above states, it took the Marines 4 days to do it. Peace.

  • Went up there in March 2009. I'd been waiting 30 yrs. So humbling, especially since 8 elderly Marine Vets of the battle were with us

  • Hey Devildogs, next time you post something for the entire world to see, how about being in the proper uniform, or at least roll your damn sleeves down! You look like a bunch of construction workers cleaning up whats only our most revered battle site.

  • 0:08 65 years ago, if you looked at that spot, you'd be seeing a whole different image. Where John Bradley's memorial plaque left by his family?

  • It would take someone about 35 days to get up that mountain back in WWII Takes less than 35 mins to do it now.

  • The battle started on 19 Feb and they planted the flag on 23 Feb. It took us about 20 minutes to walk up. I completely understand your point though. There's a paved road now and it goes up through a series of switchbacks. No one was shooting at us either.

  • Im not much into the Pacific Theater but this is still very cool.

  • omg its so nice!

  • tHIS IS RELLY CHILLING . aLL FILM OF THIS AREA IS BATTLE FOOTAGE . tO SEE IT IN A PEACEFULL SETTING IS UNNERVING . i KEEP seeing IMAGES OF BATTLESHIPS BLAZING AWAY AND WRECKAGE OF WAR ON THE BEACH

  • That was awesome . Its so green ..

  • You're right, at the time of the battle, the Japanese burned the vegetation to give them clear fields of fire. There was no place for the Marines to hide.
